Wishing I could leave 100 stars. These guys are amazing. I truly had a terrible day and week but these guys turned that around with only 5 minutes of their kindness. My son and I rode our bikes over to get my guitar string fixed and I was prepared to leave it for however long was needed and pay whatever they asked. They asked me for my guitar and asked me to wait 5 min, he comes back with my string fixed and insisted on not charging me. I've known Billie for about 5 years and he gets all my music business now. I've been through almost everybody in So Cal searching for a luthier worth the name. I finally found the Wizard. He is so experienced that I can't even imagine a better guitar tech. I have never asked Billie for an estimate !!! I don't need to. I just ask if he would PLEASE do his thing. I've been working on guitars, mandolins, banjos, tiples, tube amps, and everything related for decades. I thought I was pretty good. But Billie is so far beyond anyone I've met, I wouldn't even consider working on my own now. I'd drive miles to get him to work on my gear; and just to say hello. He's in Sunset Beach and there is no better place to kill a bunch of hours; bring your lady for lunch. If you get lucky, Billie may pull down a bass and start cranking out some of the most awesome bass runs ever. This guy is a Musicologist par excellence. I love the tone he gets. But the best is saved for last. Billie is one hell of a human being. He's got a big heart that shines bright; like a light that illuminates all around it. I brought my 76-key Yamaha keyboard to Beach Music for a repair estimate (yes, they fix more than just guitars!) and I couldn't be more thrilled with having found Billy and this amazing shop! Besides having a repair diagnostic for me in less than an hour, Billy has an impressive array of incredible guitars (including one bad-ass, see-through acrylic beauty!), is an incredible repair tech, musician, and just an overall great guy. After going to a few guitar repair shops now and being recommended by some friends, I'd say Billy is the best guy for the job. He's repaired/set up my amp, guitar pedals, pickup installations with custom wiring requests, and parts that improved my guitars tuning stability/playability and overall acoustic sound etc. What I appreciate about Billy isn't just his versatility in the craft, but mostly his honesty. Always gives back spare parts without having me ask for them and calls to update me on how progress is coming along. There's parking behind his shop, but I prefer the street In front. Took awhile to write this review, but he stood the test of time and earned my trust so it's well deserved imo. read more

I have been going here since Billy had the shop in Huntington beach off Beach Blvd. The new location is sweet! Right off PCH in Sunset beach close to HB Harbor. I have bought a couple guitars from him, he always had good quality and unique guitars there and has guitars for most budgets! So if your looking for something affordable or something to treat yourself with, you can find it here. He is a good guy and does honest, quality, work for repair jobs. I recently brought in an old, dusty, electric guitar with corroded electronics and old strings. He did a complete overhaul on it and changes out all the electronics on it except for pick ups which where in good shape. Then restrung it and polished everything from the frets to the bridge and tuners! It came out looking so good but sounded even better! He charged a very fair price and I know I would have paid more elsewhere and wouldn't have gotten the detail that Billy put into my guitar. So if you need new gear or repair job this is the place to go! read more

Beach Music is an lovely local-run music store. You don't see this kind of shop much anymore and it's a breath of fresh air. My guitar was back to me withing a couple of days..restrung and conditioned and looking and sounding beautiful. I have been going to Beach Music for repairs on my guitars, bass, and amps for a few years. The owner, Billy, is extremely knowledgeable and very friendly. He will take the time to figure out what is best for the customer. He has been able to help me finally resolve issues with fret buzzing, and electrical shorting for which I had gone to other shops previously and spent money "fixing" but having the same issue resurface. With Billy those issues have been permanently fixed. He did the same for my Pevey amp, and a bass head that I recovered from a storage locker that had a 1/2 of dust sitting on the tubes when we opened it up. Great work. I have become so confident in his abilities that he completely built me a bass which has become my favorite to play. Great shop - could not recommend any higher. read more

Honestly I have nothing but positive things to say about this place and Billy. I dropped my GK head off on Thursday and got it back on Saturday. He fully explained to me in detail what he did to fix it and how to prevent it from happening again. In between talking business we talked about music and amps. There's something about a small shop ran by a fellow musician that just makes it such a welcoming experience. Other places quoted me double to triple the amount I paid with zero to little customer service. This will now be my go to shop for any repair from amps to pedals to instruments.
