They also have books on the ADKS, bug spray, trekking poles, raingear, a limited supply of emergency camping gear (like firestarters), t-shirts, fleeces, etc. for sale though I doubt most people are shopping much for them here. This is a great stop for maps/books on the ADK's and they have tons of patches for the various 46 High Peaks (all at 6 dollars each) as well as a Hadley Fire Tower patch and several general ADK Park/Mtns. pins/patches. Of course, you can also donate or sign up to be an ADK Mountain Club member here as well. I inquired as to various course offerings on things like orienteering and was told that those courses are offered through the ADK Center up in Lake Placid, not this location. They will not have much info. for you at this location regarding which High Peaks to hike; their info/knowledge is local centric only. If you're looking for info on the High Peaks region, I'd suggest calling the ADK center in Lake Placid. Tip: they close at 5 pm every day Monday through Friday and are not open on Saturday/Sunday.

Jones V has sadly passed away on the evening of August 18, 2022, as a result of a motorcycle accident. He died doing something he truly enjoyed. Thomas graduated from South Glens Falls in 2006 and continued on to get an Associate's degree from ACC. After graduating from ACC, he worked at Trustco bank in South Glens Falls for a short time until he realized that he had to follow his dreams. Five years ago, he decided he wanted to open his own business and that is when Devocean Watersports was born. He managed to put together a great team of employees that helped him with boat charters and jet-ski tours on Lake George, out of the hotel "Twin Birches." Thomas loved his business and put everything he had into it. His smile and enthusiasm was infectious to everyone he met along his journey in life. He really enjoyed teaching people how to do things that was out of their norm. Thomas also made many friends down in Marathon within the keys were he went every winter, enjoying life to the fullest. He was predeceased by his father Thomas P. Jones IV. The water was a bit calm but there were a few parts that were crazy. I was in the back of the raft with our guide so that made me feel a bit safer (I'm adventurous but this definitely had my heart racing as a newbie). My fiancé and friends (they've gone white water rafting before) thought the water was too calm and mentioned coming back when the snow is melting and there are more white caps. Our guide was fun and was trying to get us to "surf" our raft next to a rock which was cool. He also jokingly led us into a rock and I flew forward (luckily he caught me before I went too far ha). When you do go, they provide all of the gear you need and more. Buses take you to and from the river. You will also have to help lift the raft to the water with your group (I ended up slipping and falling on the rocks going down to the river so that was "fun", there are snacks/lunch provided when there's a break in between rafting. Towards the end, it was so calm, we had to row for a good mile or two to get us back. When you get back, dinner is provided and it was delicious! I had a fun time and I do want to come back when the water is choppier. Summer was a good choice for a first timer. All in all, I loved this company and our guide (I want to say his name was Buzz).
