If you blink you'll miss it. It's across from Trader Joes (formerly Ralph's), and wedged in between a surf shop and a not great car wash. But Beach Smog itself is fantastic, I've gone there for about 15 years. Your experience will be like this, consistently: There is either a very short wait or no wait at all. Then a quick smog test. He then passes your car (every time I've gone there). There is a very reasonable fee. And you are done and out of there, very, very quickly, and painlessly. Another reviewer mentioned that it can be tricky to exit Beach Smog onto Aviation, and that is absolutely true, so be careful when you leave. read more

When our 2002 Volvo S60 initially failed the smog test, Carlos refused payment, suggesting we take it for a drive and retest. After a 60 mile drive or so drive we brought our Volvo back and, lo and behold, it passed! Upon arrival Carlos greeted me, mentioned the smog check would be $50 out the door. My heart jumped with joy $50 for smog check in Hermosa beach 0_0. I thought the $50 price tag was from 2014 when I read the reviews online here, so it was amazing to see the price didn't change because of inflation for this particular shop most other shops quoted me for $80. Pretty fast service was in and out in 15 minutes. Definitely recommended!! read more

This Place Rocks!! I live in Hermosa, and called ahead with a question as my scanner said there was a "pending code" in the system but there was no "check engine" light on. The owner told me to come in, and he'd check it with his scanner and tell me if it was ready. His scanner said we were good to go, the test took about 15 minutes, and I was out the door. Fast, courteous, knowledgeable, service. If I could give Beach Smog 6 stars I would (my scanner....not so much). It's a small shop in between ET surfboards and the Car Wash across from the Trader Joes center. This guy knows his stuff! read more

The service is good and it is a bit cheaper than a lot of the places around. Gives you 1 free retest within 60 days if you fail, and is certified for test-only (which is good for guys like me with really old cars lol). read more

Got the DMV letter in the mail that it was time for a smog check. I remembered coming to this place years ago and was pleased with the service so I decided to come here again. Smog check done very quickly like everyone says. It is a little difficult to find if you are headed west on Aviation towards PCH. It is on your left beside the Rock n Roll car wash and a surf shop. Downside: It is tricky to get out once done if someone is behind you and customers are parked at the surf shop. read more

Terrible experience.. I've never wrote a yelp review but the terrible customer service here has forced me to. I called and requested an appointment but he said I needed to come in, so I did. He informed me there were 2 cars ahead of mine and that it would be 45 minutes. I asked him if I could leave and come back without losing my place in line and he said I could. Well, when I came back he went back on his word. I was on the limited time frame and obviously would not have left if that was the case. He didn't care. As a full time working mom, it's really unfortunate to have someone waste your day and not even get the service done. read more
