Great little sweet shop. When you need that special treat, this is your go to place. The fudge reminds me of the fudge my Grandma would make during Christmas when I was a little kid. Got my candy fix here with so many choices I repeatedly found the best and freshest Charlston chews at the store it is not where you want to go if you're watching your sugar intake but oh well it is open kind a late so it is a good place to hit up for desert exactly what I did. read more

I'm going to keep this short and sweet, it is a candy wonderland. Its just great! So much chocolatey goodness to choose from. They have this stuff...I can't recall it it's name, but its white chocolate, rice crispies, marshmallow and peanut butter melted together in one tasty treat. This place knows what its doing. I haven't actually been here yet, just sent them an email to see if they had certain types of candies and they answered within a day. They sell Ice Cubes chocolate candies here, plus a lot of the hard to find stuff. Clove gum, Fruit Stripe gum, Flicks and other stuff you don't see everywhere. It's not easy to find a good sweet shop and this place is just jam packed to the gills with sweetness...especially, when referring to STEPHANIE, GODDESS of CANDY!!!!!!!!!!!!! She is clearly the sweetest thing in this shop, HANDS DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!! My kids simply adore her and always ask if we can stop in to say "hi" on the weekends...I'm sure the bonus bag of candy we walk out with doesn't sway their decision to visit ;) No matter how busy the shop may get, she's always smiling, super friendly and unbelievablly knowledgable about their products...and she's quick to offer suggestions to tourist on local eateries, etc., without skipping a beat. I've been here a few times and keep coming back for the taffy and fudge. Both are top of the line. I usually get the peanut butter fudge, which is about an inch and a half of chocolate with about half an inch of peanut butter on top. It's SO good!!! This would be a full five stars if staff were a little more personable or just pretended like they were amped up on sugar. Each time that we've visited, the staff weren't enjoyable. Maybe they are on a sugar crash. Or maybe I'm just really excited about sugar and think that everyone else should be too. read more

Came in today for the first time. Spent about $4 on two chocolates. After paying, I picked up the bag of chocolates and the bag was open on the bottom. The cashier watched as both chocolates fell on the floor. I handed them to her and asked if she could throw them away. She did. I asked if they would replace them. She said that the owner said no. Wow! My husband and I stopped in here today just for a small treat, but there was so much to choose from (dozens of different homemade chocolates, and a whole wall of candies by the scoop) and everything looked really good, so we ended up sampling about six or seven different things. My favorite was the hazelnut truffle and his favorite was the wipeout, which had marshmallows and something peanut butter-y. We normally don't eat too many sweets (once I get started I just keep eating and eating..) but this was a really fun way to cheat on my diet, and the perfect end to a fun day at the beach. read more

I initially wrote a bad review for Beach Sweets after receiving some service that was simply no bueno. The owner actually read my review and emailed me to apologize for their poor customer service. I've never had a business owner contact me regarding one of my yelp reviews so I was pretty surprised. She vowed to talk with the girls about the issue to make sure it wouldn't happen again. She even took the time to make my absolute fav truffles and set some aside for me to pick up-on the house!! Delicious chocolates, with a really interesting chocolate covered honeycomb. Great for a sweet snack as you're walking along the beach.

Awesome handmade goodies, and an eclectic selection of packaged candy that you don't see everywhere - they have these disgusting little mints called Violets or something that my girlfriend absolutely loves and can virtually never find elsewhere. But the Wipeout, friends and neighbors, is where it's at - sliced like a loaf of bread, you get sticky slabs of marshmallowy, peanut buttery, white chocolatey crunchity goodness. Until she moved down to OB where she could go walk and get it herself, we'd bribe my girlfriend's mom with this stuff in exchange for babysitting duties - a few sheets for a day, or a pound for a whole weekend. Not a bad deal, but not as good of a deal as just buying a pound of it and cramming it all down your gullet. read more

Love this place I have been coming here regularly for a few years. They have a big selection and they're also one of the few places that sells Frosty's Blue Cream Soda. Their peanut butter cups and chocolate-covered gummy worms are probably my favorite. The staff is always very friendly. read more

Such a cute shop with awesome selections. Bought a bag full of sour belts, a doggie cookie, walnut fudge, a poprocks chocolate, their wipeout, a smiling chocolate dipped oreo, and a peanut butter cup. I've never had poprocks in chocolate and was a little skeptical. It was an interesting experience, but I loved it. Their wipeout is rice crispies cereal, peanut butter, marshmallow, and white chocolate. It was soft, and smooth, and super decadent. The faces on the oreos were super cute, and the peanut butter in the peanut butter cup was super silky. Only slight complaint I have is with the fudge. It had a slight coconut taste and could have been smoother. read more

I honestly cannot go a day without stopping here. I tried it while on vacation in OB (couldn't walk past and NOT stop inside) and was hooked since. I moved to the area shortly after I vacationed OB and now it is a daily addiction. I need my fix :) I love the wipe out, anything they have that is peanut butter or caramel. Tried the choco covered bacon, not a fan -- but I'm sure that's an aquired taste. HIGHLY recommend. Oh, and the staff is amazing there. They are so sweet, and so helpful.. that's always a factor on whether I'll be back or not. read more

I stumbled upon this place while I was in OB, and I like the offerings they have on fresh desserts, candy and taffy. I did buy a pound of salt water taffy, and those were good. I think they get their stock of salt water taffy from some place on the east coast.. the other thing that I got was the peanut butter fudge... that tasted strange, it was very plastic like in texture and I wasn't sure it was soft and buttery (as in ... it's supposed to melt in your mouth?) I know I've gotten fudge at other places, and most of them depending on whether it's well made, will melt in your mouth. Customer service was great, salt water taffy was good, but that peanut butter fudge... was strange. read more

I love Beach Sweets! I've had great, friendly service every time I've visited. The lady behind the counter is always welcoming and chatty - most of the time I see the tall blonde woman, and recently I dealt with a slightly older woman who was happy to help me even though I ran in as she was closing (which goes above and beyond, in my opinion - I did offer to leave and let her close!). The treats, especially the fudge, are delicious and I always stop by when I'm in the neighborhood. read more

Love their chocolate! Definantly, top shelf. The effort to make such fine delectables, is definitely taken for granted. Everytime I come to SD, I make a special trip to feed my inner chocolate monster. I even bought some to send to friends across the U.S. My personal favs are the Sea Foam, Peanut Butter Cups, Wipeout, & the simple chocolate covered marshmallows. Yum, yum! I wanted to take a decent sized box of chocolates on a ski trip recently but didn't want to take out a loan to do so. Step in Beach Sweets. They opened up their 2 lb box and let me fill it up with all sorts of fancy delectable's. I snuck a couple of the pieces up on the mountain for a real sugar high, hit the spot. My real choco-weakness is truffles and they were out of them when I went, oh darn, just have to make another visit. read more

BEACH SWEETS ROXX!!! I have been coming to OB for years and I have finally realized a life long dream of moving here just a month ago. When I live somewhere there are certain things I must have. A good Thai food restaurant...check. Some great places to hear music....check. A yummy fro yo place....check. Some place to get my sweet on....BIG CHECK! Beach Sweets is run by this very cool and accomodating lady named Laura. Laura also realized a long running dream of opening a place in OB and she made that dream come true, just like I did. Besides having the BEST chocolate creations around! That great "stuff" that is made from white chocolate, rice crispies, marshmallows and peanut butter mentioned below is called WIPEOUT...one of my favortie treats there and aptly named for being just half a block from the ocean....YUMMMERS!! She also has a whole section of all the favorite candies from your childhood for you baby boomers. And don't forget the traditional by-the-oceanside candy....salt water taffy...I'll take one of each please. good candy if you are in the area. You can tell things are freshly made here. we had the kona coffee chocolate, the smore marshmallow, and a chocolate dipped gummy worm for my three year old. The smore was really good and I am a sucker for anything like that, but I find often this simple candy has something not good about it...usually stale marshmallows or the crap marshmallows from the super market. not here. Soft, flavorful marshmallow mmmmmmm. Had a nibble of the hubbie's kona coffee chocolate and it was really good. Just the right amount of coffee flavor. And the chocolate covered gummy worm...was a chocolate covered gummy worm. Not good but not bad, three year old's love them apparently. While this shop is cute, the quality of chocolate is less than satisfactory. It's almost like picking out cheap box chocolate. Their chocolate is way too sweet. I was unable to finish the truffles I purchased, and they made me feel sick. I like their concepts and creativity, but would be very surprised to find that they make their own chocolate. It tastes more like cheap, melted down blocks of chocolate, or worse, melted chocolate chips! Which is alright if you don't care. My recommendation though is that you save money and make it at home with items on sale at Walmart. read more

Anywhere with an abundance of candy is my kinda place. This place filled my sweet tooth. Friendly service and reasonable prices. Only complaint is the fudge. I prefer melt in your mouth fudge and their maple fudge had a very chewy, almost glue like taste and consistency. Otherwise, I enjoyed my treats and will be back. read more
