a variety of chocolates in a display case
    Raymond A.

Good variety of chocolates. I asked about ingredients and they showed me them and its a tiny list w/no hydrogenated oils or sea salt or even corn syrup. I picked out many, 8 for $20. Its a bit pricey, for more and more chocolate the price skyrockets. Worker bees are super friendly and professional!!

Photo taken while DRIVING because I literally couldn't WAIT to eat them! The milk toffee is my favorite, so I got two of those. I love really every single item I've gotten here. I don't typically enjoy dark chocolate, but I really enjoy it from here!!! Just get the eight pack - you will not regret it!!! I could eat this entire box in one sitting the owners are amazing people and generous, and all employees are really kind too.

I wanted to like this place, but I couldn't quite get there. Chocolate Haus is a little shop in the Pacific Beach ("PB" if you're a local or a pretender) neighborhood of San Diego. It's within walking distance from various restaurants including the one where I ate lunch, so I gave them a try. They're slightly hidden, so either keep your eyes peeled or just rely on mapping software. The person working there let us sample the ice cream. I tried a couple of flavors - none of them are very unusual - and ended up going for an ice cream sandwich ($3) with Coffee Almond Fudge inside. The freshness and/or storage conditions are questionable because ice had formed inside of the plastic wrapper. The ice cream was fine, but not special in flavor or texture, and the chocolate chip cookie "buns" were of the uncooked ice cream sandwich variety, not something that you'd eat alone. Considering that it's markedly inferior to chain ice cream sandwich establishments, I wouldn't recommend coming here for it. And if you think I shouldn't give weight to the ice cream, it's a big part of the menu and an ice cream cone symbol was the first thing I saw while walking down the sidewalk to this store. It's cheap but forgettable. I also ordered a chocolate truffle, namely the Nirvana ($2.50 per piece). This was more impressive, with a smooth dark chocolate ganache inside of a dark chocolate shell. I might try more chocolates if I should return. Judging by how Chocolate Haus seem to have been stuck around for years despite seeing a sparse number of reviews, I doubt that this will hurt them too much. But I think that they're just OK, not great.

Pete the owner has yummy offerings at this little gem on Turquoise. I had a much needed espresso and a chocolate dipped Oreo. My girls chose these adorable lollipops, and we were all very happy! Can't wait to try the ice cream!

Not dog friendly, but there's plenty of places outside to lock up your pooch! https://www.instagram.com/ollienco

Under the radar awesomeness in north PB. Looking for delicious chocolate treats? Truffles? Ice cream? Keep your eyes open. Blink and you'll miss it, but it's right across from The Bar Key and one of those PB gems you really should check out.

Peanut Butter Fudge and Chocolate Chip Cookie

This chocolatier not only makes decadent chocolate and cookies, but they also make some very good ice cream. After having lunch near by, I stopped in for some dessert and ordered a cup of their peanut butter fudge ice cream and a chocolate chip cookie (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/the-chocolate-haus-san-diego?select=sx2cSaUG8RKG7fv1nhxUDQ#jqyE1W4qu4tZg5YPkjQTpQ). The ice cream had a mild peanut butter flavor, nothing over whelming, which a loud the fudge to stand out and say "hello!" (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/the-chocolate-haus-san-diego?select=sx2cSaUG8RKG7fv1nhxUDQ#tFDGf3sSKkcjwljkt2PDtQ). Now, the ice cream was not as smooth as I have had, a little grainy, but the flavor was there, and paired eating with the chocolate chip cookie, just made my day (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/the-chocolate-haus-san-diego?select=sx2cSaUG8RKG7fv1nhxUDQ#FZMwv2f2aiNtG3gV5W0NKg). The chocolate chip cookie was moist and came with a very good amount of chocolate chip morsels (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/the-chocolate-haus-san-diego?select=sx2cSaUG8RKG7fv1nhxUDQ#ManLFHN5d_aCwXJeTW8t1A). Like I said earlier, they make some good looking chocolate which were being made as I walked in (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/the-chocolate-haus-san-diego?select=sx2cSaUG8RKG7fv1nhxUDQ#sx2cSaUG8RKG7fv1nhxUDQ). I was offered a sampler but I turned it down, given I had my eyes set on some homemade ice cream. The lady who runs and I presume owns the place, is very nice and welcoming.

Stumbled upon this little place in north pb by imputing 'dessert' in an app called..........yelp (surprise, surprise haha) and was not disappointed. We ordered ice cream sandwiches, in which you can choose from a couple of flavors of ice cream and cookies. I chose to use two different cookies, white chocolate macadamia and snicker doodle, to sandwich the brownie chunk ice cream. It was amazing, I promise you. Couldn't pass up picking something from a huge case of truffles...and decided to try the Nirvana (dark chocolate), French Kiss (white chocolate) and a peanut butter flavored one. Very rich in chocolate, no complaints. Surprised this place doesn't get a lot of play or reviews on the internet, but it's definitely a place to try.

I was craving ice cream on my way back from the beach. Not only do they have chocolates, but also they have ice cream. The guy who helped me out was super nice and gave me a couple extra chocolates free! As soon as I bit into my mint chocolate chip ice cream I knew I had to write this review... so good!!

Wow what a fantastic experience my family just had at Chocolate Haus! So, we were about 10 minutes away looking at the sea lions at La Jolla Cove. We were trying to walk off a delicious meal from Phil's Bbq we had an hour earlier. After walking up and down and all around town we were in the mood for chocolate. So what do we do? Use YELP of course! Typed in 'chocolate shop' and current location. Lamentably not much came up where we were BUT 1 town over had a cute little shop named Chocolate Haus with an amazing yelp reputation. So we hopped in the car and headed out to find some of the good stuff. I am lactose intolerant and prefer dark chocolate to milk chocolate. I'm super picky and have a hard time finding desserts in general since 99% of desserts are milk based. Yeah, I never noticed that either until I was diagnosed. Dark chocolate and churros are about my only choices. Wait is this about me or this shop? I digress. Anyway, the dark chocolate almond brittle was AMAZING!! Not hard to bite into at all, I was shocked. Not only was it easy to eat but it had the most amazing flavor. Was my absolute favorite nut brittle ever! Lastly, the service! It could not have been better! They gave my kids 1 free white and chocolate dipped Oreo for their 1 scoop ice cream bowls. Was not expecting that, but it didn't end there! I bought 3 candy pieces to eat and it left a blank corner in the little plastic to go box. Maybe that didn't look Feng Shui to them or something so they filled that empty little spot with a FREE candy of their choice. It was a lemon drop chocolate and it's something I never would have tried on my own and really enjoyed it. What a great way to treat customers! Of all the places I've been to this week (escaping the record 120 degree temps back home) this impeccable service compelled me to write this right away, even without a real keyboard!

I wanted some outstanding hostess gifts for Thanksgiving and found perfection. I'm posting a pic of my precious turkeys--they'll be hard to give away. Pete was personable and helpful. He graciously gave me a truffle to sample then insisted I try the ice cream. Both were extraordinarily delicious. I will definitely be back soon for Christmas treats. Chocolate Haus is just what I was looking for--it was well worth the short drive from La Jolla. Give it a try when you're in North PB.

    Plenty to choose from.
