Stay ANYWHERE else but here. This is a very poorly ran hotel with ZERO sense of customer service. Falsely advertised amenities, no towels/linens are changed out during your stay, management wants to operate the place like a prison. There are so many better options than spending ANY amount of money here. Details of my stay: First, the large travel sites clearly indicate "contact property for late check in", this is not possible. Our flight came in AFTER their stated hours and the manage REFUSED to allow us to check in AFTER the reservation was charged. The following day we were allowed to check in and that's when it got worse. Rooms are tiny (like jail cell tiny). We were in Room 102, the staff sits right outside the door of this room and smoke. The mattress is old and torn, the fridge doesn't sit level. No working fire/smoke detectors (see pics for the old non-working, expired one still hanging in room), there are no towels given during your stay. Pool is very dirty and damaged not maintained at all. Cigarettes and smokers around the pool at all times (see pics) and management never bothers to say anything (but will quickly knock on your door if they "believe" you have more than 2 children or did not inform them of someone in your party, even when they are mistaken.) If you know someone in the Melbourne area and plan on meeting them or having them pick you up from this hotel be forewarned the manager acts like a jail warden. Simply will not even allow someone on the property to pick you up for dinner. (If you look at the terms and conditions from their site you will see that NOTHING regarding visitors is stated. It's not stated because its poor customer service and this place knows it l so they want you to book and not know that they run the motel like a low quality prison until after you arrive.) Their website also states the TV has 200 channels on one page as and it absolutely does not, not even close. It's basic cable TV. Their website also states all rooms have HDTV which is also false (see pics) the television is not high def. Coffee pot and microwave actually block the doorway (that's how small the room is). There's no vending machines, no sun umbrellas around the pool as stated (see pics). Our son came by (he lives in Florida)and the front desk actually knocked on our door asking who he was and that he needed to buy a room. All in all this place is super low quality, ran by a staff that has zero customer service or business sense, false and misleading advertising and has unstated "policies" that are not listed on their site nor publicly and you're only informed once you check in (and they have your money). Read the other reviews of the same issues. My advice is to dispute the charge with your credit card company based on false terms and conditions. BEWARE!!! The hotel has recently changed ownership, the new owners do not care about their guests, they are up partying and drinking and having Extramarital affair's with the contractor right outside of your door. You can hear everything including the fact that he has his wedding band in his pocket...they are up drinking and smoking and partying all over the parking lot. We woke up to construction, chainsaws hammering and two giant dumpsters right outside of our door, which made it impossible to even park. This was a complete nightmare, please do not go there expecting a peaceful stay. Sad they sold it! read more

WHAT A DOG! Holy cow. I am going to keep this short, but it is a review I needed to make and at the time we were visiting I was suffering from a wound that was not healing and ended up needing ER medical treatment. We arrived on a Monday in early August 2015 and this place was recommended (more by price/location than by accommodations). It was noon and we just rolled in from visiting friends in Gainesville. The price was very good (like 60.00 a night I think) and instead of paying by the night, we sadly booked for 4 nights. Right after checking in at the desk and going to our room which was close to the pool, we headed to the local hospital ER to get my foot checked (had it run over 2 weeks earlier and the foot had an internal wound manifesting). We got back to our room around 7 p.m. w/ food we picked up "to go" and wanted to relax in our room. The bed was ok, not great, we could have used a couple extra pillows. The room, besides being outdated, was very small and tight which made using crutches, that I now needed to use, very challenging. The bathroom was super tiny so that posed a problem w/ the crutches. There was no way for me to use the old fashioned tile shower (getting in and out was a serious hazard). But what really annoyed me was the damn internet service....horrible. The wifi was extremely challenging to use...slow and I think not powerful enough to service the whole complex. I kept losing connection. Then the bugs showed up. Yep. I just draw the line in a place that has a roach problem! We were not going to stay while I was stuck in bed or using crutches where the internet sucked. My partner went to the desk the next morning and asked about a refund given my new health situation. He was not happy AT ALL....but after refunding all but an extra night's fee we were glad to get the hell out of there. We ended up SPENDING the extra money on a nice hotel room and hoped to get the bastard who ran over me to reimburse us for the nicer room upgrade. It was worth it. Skip this place! read more

Most horrible experience ever, in fact I got the corrupt police dept involved too. They require you to sign a blank credit card slip that my wife signed not thinking. When I questioned it and asked for a copy they refused to give me a copy. I then requested to talk to the owner as well who was not helpful at all. So before we got done I called the police because they would not give me the receipt of a blank signed credit card slip the girl slid it in the bright drop box and told the police she couldn't get it because it fell behind the desk. I proceeded to take our private info off the desk to leave that they coached the police into getting back from me as the police office threatened to arrest me. I would not stay here or any where in this town it's a bunch of crooks! read more

Horrible stay! Do not book a room here!Room had just been painted and stunk of paint. Handle on hot shower did not work so had to take a cold shower. There was a blood stain on one of the beds so we shared the other bed. Warning: Reserve at your own risk. Credit card is charged immediately and there are no refunds. Then there is a $50 security deposit that we didn't know about until we checked in. The nicest part of the property is the beach and the housekeepers. Leaving the beach and returning to your room is seriously depressing. We'll never scrimp again. The extra $200 would be worth the comfort and peace of mind. Oh, the property is for sale. I hope someone bulldozes this dive and builds a lovely hotel. Then we will be back. read more

At 10pm we were welcomed with open arms! For one night and a morning walk on the beach we enjoyed the simplicity of everything. We slept very well and everything was clean. There are restaurants and bars at a convent distance. read more

We booked this place expecting very little. I thought it was great for the price. It's right on the beach. Our room was clean when we arrived for our three night stay. The room was small but that was expected so no complaint there. The staff was friendly. It was within walking distance of several restaurants and only about an $8.00 Uber ride from downtown Melbourne. Our only complaint was the room wasn't cleaned while we were there. So our floors became very sandy due our beach activities. We also had to ask for fresh towels. Really I think it's a deal for the price. read more

If it is possible to take away stars, this would be a good time for it. I will not be able to write a review of a stay here because my daughter and son in law were escorted off the property by the police. Ah, I get ahead of myself. I booked a room at Beach Tropics for my daughter and son in law who are visiting from out of state. We chose this motel because of it's proximity to my mother's home and the beach. I made the reservation on line and the rate was 70.00 for one night. When my daughter checked in they were charged 180.00 for the room. My daughter refused and when her husband went in to request a refund, they were told no. Why the additional charges? Because there were two children with them, a 2 1/2 and a 1 1/2 year old. Because they refused to check in and demanded a refund, instead of working out a solution, the owners called the police. My son in law is active military who was on a short leave. They came to Florida to spend a few days over the holidays with their families and wanted to bring their girls to the beach for a few hours. Instead they were met with resistance and a police escort. Fortunately, the credit card company denied the charge. This is the second bad experience our family has encountered with this motel, the first being one of my sisters refusing to stay there because of bugs. They too, were denied a refund and resorted to contacting their credit card company. My advice? Pay the extra money and stay at one of the many hotels located in the area. At least you'll get to actually spend some time at the beach. read more

People, you REALLY need to PAY ATTENTION to the NEGATIVE parts of these reviews.. oh my, where to start...We are Local to the area, and use the beach motels as weekend mini vacays as much as twice a month. This was the first time we have stayed here...YES, I read the reviews..ALL of them, the good and the bad...I wish I had put more stock in the bad...Here is how our 4 day stay went. I checked in around 5pm, my 21 year old Daughter was dropping me off so that she could bring my Husband over when he got off of work at 8pm. When I checked in, I explained this to the lady behind the counter..that my daughter would be back that evening to drop him off..Since we were not going to be having to have a car there, i informed her that our spot could be utilized by others, as parking is a scarcity.. The manager had told me that LOCALS had to pay cash for the rooms, I even asked for a total so i knew how much to withdraw. Brian ( a manager) had told me on the telephone, that the total with tax and fees would be $334.35.. ok, so that is really not a biggie to withdraw the cash ..But upon checking in, I was then informed me of a $50 deposit, which under no uncertain terms was I made aware of, either time I had called that day!! This could really have caused an issue if I luckily had not withdrawn extra!! We had the efficiency suite...it was a bit small but to be honest i was quite pleased with it. Air conditioner was a bit loud and didn't cool down the room very well but hey its Florida, we're used to that. Loved the fact that it had a little kitchen with a sink and a stove...However, only 2 of the burners worked!! And the back slider doors, I couldn't open them so I called the front desk...well they DON'T open...what a huge disappointment THAT was...Would have loved to hear the ocean like you can from MOST hotels!!! Ok so onto the WORST part...My husband gets off work at 8pm and our two grown daughters drove our car to bring him over so they could have the car..they were helping to bring in a few things we had forgotten, a couple of small plastic outside tables, a black laptop bag etc...well of course we were showing them the room...Now get this!! Honest to God, they had NOT been there more than FIVE minuted when there was a knock on the door. It was the Lady behind the counter...she said we had UNREGISTERED guests present...We TRIED to explain to her that they were only dropping him off and staying for a few minutes...She INSISTED that they leave IMMEDIATELY...She then proceeded to ACCUSE us of having a DOG!!! a dog?? seriously? I asked if she wanted to look in the room to make sure we didn't.. Apparently the cameras are so crappy that they cannot tell a dog from a LAPTOP case...She then accused my husband of smoking in the room...He had an UNLIT cigarette in his mouth. She offered absolutely NO apologies for ANY of these mistakes...Ok, so this left me with a very unpleasant taste for this place and quite angry to be honest..But first night, We weren't going to let it ruin our stay. Fast forward to that evening on the deck outside of our room, we were lounging in our chairs, enjoying refreshing cocktails..minding our OWN business..All of the sudden...here comes the front desk lady with a long pole and a phone in her hand...She adjusted the cameras..She then asked the person on the phone if that was better...So when she left, feeling slightly uncomfortable, we moved our chairs back a bit closer to our sliders,,,you guessed it...Here she comes again to readjust the cameras!!!! At this point I was fuming...We are 50 years old!!! We are hard working people who are just there to relax and unwind...Yet we felt like we were being treated as criminals!!!! And after all of the accusations from earlier I had almost had enough!! Do NOT accuse people of something unless you are 100% SURE they have done it!!!!! We were not the only ones she came out to adjust the cameras for...Another party informed us this morning that she had done the EXACT same thing to them twice as well.. We did somewhat enjoy the rest of our stay, no one hassled us the rest of the time..I guess they realized we were harmless...However the pool hours were awful...opened at 9:30 AM and closed no later than 8PM, yet it stayed VERY well lit ALL night...Why not open it until 10pm like many hotels do...Too bad :( So my point with all of this is to READ the reviews, don't disregard the negatives as we did because in THIS case the negatives were huge,,,And the negatives were about the EXACT same issues we encountered with the cameras, this mistrustfullness, and the domineering manner in which things were handled...I DO have to say that the ONE bright spot during our stay was one of the onsight personnel named IVY...she was by far the most enjoyable person there to speak with!! She was a joy to meet thats for sure...Can you put HER behind the desk full time please?? We Shall NOT be staying there EVER again!!! read more

DON'T STAY HERE!!!! YOU'LL BE SORRY IF YOU DO!!!! This is without-a-doubt the WORST Hotel/Motel I have ever stayed at!! Checking in was like taking a trip back to the 70's. They even still have that manual slide carbon-type credit card machine and that old time board that you push the letters on to make a sign.But anyway, the first problem happened when we first got there. We wanted to settle in but we couldn't lock the door, the bolt wouldn't lock. We told the person at the desk and she said she would call the owner. I told her that I wouldn't be able to sleep unless I was sure the door was locked. The owner told her to tell us not to worry, nothing will happen and he would be there in the morning to fix it. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! The Room was dirty...hair and sand on the floor, probably because they charge extra for cleaning!!!!! They have a pool and are beachfront and they charge extra for towels!!!! The valance rod was a wooden dowel, and the curtain rod was a rusty spring. There was a plastic vase with ancient plastic flowers in the room....most likely left over from the 70's. The sheets were plaid and the pillows were as flat as pancakes.....again the 70's. When we finally accepted that we didn't have a choice but to stay, we barricaded the door and decided to try to get some sleep. When we turned down the sheets, there was an ant crawling on the bed. We pulled the bed away from the wall and there was an outlet without a cover... a great way for insects to get in!! We decided to walk on the beach, we figured they couldn't fuck that up, and they couldn't even cut back some foliage to clear a path to the beach, we had to climb over a piece of wood...really really terrible. I understand that the rates are lower than the rest, but I would not have cared if it needs updates to the rooms..... The room that I used was filthy!!!! The tile in the bathroom had not been cleaned in a long time.... The table had residue of something and hair all over..... The ladie behind the counter was rude with I asked some simple questions....
