Horror Trivia every 1st Tuesday of the month!! We have gone twice and both times have been super fun-it's definitely super different each time which is exciting. All the pizzas we have tried have been delicious-the most surprising though has to the vegan pizza. I loved the sauce that was on it -it was a chili garlic sauce and packed a great kick. I also love their soda collection they have for any non-alcohol drinkers. Both times we have gone they have had different selections. Awesome bar. I don't want to call it a dive bar because the food is so awesome and everything here is definitely NOT a dive bar. But, I think they go for that aesthetic. You come for the pizza. But you stay for the arcade and pinball setups. And, if you're lucky, you'll come on a random day when a band is playing. The old horror posters on the wall and CRT monitors of old horror movies (Chainsaw Massacre the day I went) are a great touch. Great place for pizza, metal music, and beers. The service was great, friendly and accommodating. Everyone was incredibly sweet and respectful. They play a lot of metal and rock music, and there are several TV's playing horror themed films. We ordered the garlic knots, a slasher pizza, a rosemary's baby pizza, and enjoyed many of their beers and cocktails. My favorite was the Frankenhooker cocktail and Purple Haze beer. Their IPA's were smooth too. After dinner we went back and played some cool retro arcade games. STEPH UPDATE: Better than ever. I don't get down here like I used to, which is a shame because it's still so great! A local band that we like was doing a Sunday matinee so that finally got us off our duff to make our way over. I'm happy to report that since my first review 6 years ago, it's only gotten better. I really miss the Dark Art Emporium, but the expansion into that space, adding more seating, arcade games, and a pool table has been better for the pizza biz, I'm sure. The hubby and I shared the Calzone with vegan sausage, garlic and roasted red peppers and it was SO GOOD and so enormous! Calzones are perfect if you need something that's between a slice and a whole pizza, and we thoroughly enjoyed it, along with a salad and beers (of course). Cool spot! If you're into horror flicks and horror in general, this is the spot for you! We had the Slaughterhouse pizza, it was delicious! I normally don't care for overly greasy pizza, but this one was good. Cool vibe, friendly staff and reasonable prices. Visited a couple weeks ago, and wow, 5/5 stars. Heard many great things about the food, drink, and atmosphere, and confirmed it to be true. This pizza though.... I stumbled upon this restaurant online and had to come try it! The decor is horror themed and really unique. The ambiance is overall really fun! In addition to the decor there are also arcade games throughout the restaurant and they place cult classic films to enjoy with your meal. I came in on a Saturday at noon and they even had a live DJ playing music! The menu is really fun and stays on theme with the names of their pizzas. It was hard to choose which pizza to order because they all sounded so good! I had the night of the chicken dead pizza which was delicious with a thin crust topped with fried chicken. I also had the devils knots, which were garlic knots, although I regret not getting the cheese stuffed knots. If you don't want a whole pizza they also sell pepperoni and cheese pizza by the slice. Had a deliciously evil evening at The 4th Horseman--hands down one of our absolute favorite pizza spots in Southern California. They're always serving up killer pies and epic brews, and last night did not disappoint. I've been here several times now and happy to see that they've expanded the space with what used to be Dark Art Emporium. Instead, they added more tables, a pool table and old arcade games like Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter. Pizzas here are solid, thin crust, loaded with flavorful sauces and toppings. Beware of the Hellfire! I never had pizza so dang spicy! I nearly died. They don't allow refunds and they should have patrons sign a waiver if they order it! For LB Food Scene Week August 2025, they collaborated with Terrible Burger to create the "Terrible Pizza." Seasoned ground beef stuffed into a soft butter-glazed crust topped with mozzarella, cheddar, grilled onions, pickles and Terrible Burger's signature "Doog Sauce." I don't typically go for ground beef but this worked! The pickles gave the pizza a burger feel to it too. Hello! The 4th Horseman was our first new restaurant of the new year, and about time. We've passed by this local spot in DTLB so many times that it's surprising we hadn't tried it sooner. We went mid-day on New Year's, and while the restaurant was fairly slow, they were still blasting metal over the speakers. It's honestly hard to tell what time of day it is inside since all the light is blocked out. The interior is very dark, but it's filled with cool, spooky decor, and there's a back room with more seating and vintage arcade games, which was a fun surprise. To be honest, I'm not the heavy-metal, hardcore type this place is geared toward, so this will probably be a one-and-done for the sit-down experience. That said, if you do enjoy that aesthetic, I think you'd have a great time here. We'll definitely be back for takeout because the food was very delicious. We had two light, crispy beers and a 16-inch Red Horse pizza. The Red Horse is basically a Hawaiian pizza. It comes with mozzarella, bacon, and pineapple, and it was very good and satisfying. The staff was nice overall, though the gentleman at the front door didn't acknowledge us and just stared when we walked in, which was a little awkward. Our waitress however was very kind, helpful and courteous when it came to explaining the menu to us. She asked for our IDs right away haha which reminds me, this is a strictly 21+ establishment. The boy has been wanting to go here for quite some time after he saw it on a YouTube video. The reviews, vibe, pizza and beer all sounded good and it was super close to the Midsummer Scream convention at the Long Beach Convention Center so we headed over after the show. The place itself is super cool inside with death metal playing, reminded me of Phantom Carriage Brewery (RIP) a little and of Three Floyd's Brewing in Munster, Indiana. The boy and I were going to play some video games but we were told that very unfortunately, kids aren't allowed inside. I asked about the age restriction and the fellow behind the bar said it was because of the inappropriate horror movies they play (but kids were allowed into the Phantom Carriage and they showed horror movies too). Bummer! They really should change the rule. After all, my son was the one who found this place in the first place! Still, we settled on eating outside and found a spot and grabbed a couple seats. They could use a larger outside area as they were quite busy. We ordered the "Little Sprouts of Horror" (Brussel sprouts, garlic, chili flakes, bacon, parmesan and balsamic reduction) for $12 and it was crazy good. Like, amazing. For our pizza, we ordered the "Death to Piggy" (tomato sauce, mozzarella, bacon, pepperoni, Canadian bacon & sausage) for $24 and it was excellent and I'm a pizza snob. The cheese pull was great and the toppings were delicious. The crust had a good chew to it and had good flavor. The selection of beers on tap were good and they also had cans and cool sodas in a serve yourself fridge. I've been dyinggg to visit the 4th Horseman for quite some time now and I'm so glad I finally stopped by with a friend. This establishment is a cute "horror/goth" themed bar located near Pine ave downtown. They seem to be generally known for their aesthetic and the fact that they specialize in their own pizzas. My friend and I seated ourselves at a table and were told by one of the staff members to scan the QR code that's on the table. The ordering process was so easy as we were able to effortlessly order our pizza and drinks from the table. I liked the no-contact method of ordering (unless you're sitting at the bar top) and the speediness of service. Our order was impressively brought out to us in less than 5 minutes. The pizza itself was good, it tasted almost similar to Costco or Sam's Club pizza. I had ordered an IPA and I believe my friend got a sangria or some sort of wine. My first time here to meet up with some old friends from high school days and it was the perfect vibe for us. We didn't realize the pizzas were full size so some people ordered a pizza for themselves but ended up sharing since it wasn't a small Personal size. Was staying in downtown Long Beach and decided to take a walk to see what I could find for dinner. Everything looked so boring until I found The 4th Horseman. This is a horror-themed pizza joint that's actually tasty! It's a gimmick, but they have a solid product to back it up. The exterior (and interior) looks like a biker bar, but the heavily pierced and tattooed servers and cooks couldn't have been more welcoming. In other words, you really can't feel out of place here (I also loved that they have tons of gay and trans pride, black lives matter, and other super welcoming and inclusive signs hanging in the window! Hooray for inclusion!!) My husband is a horror nerd, so he had a blast just looking around. The decor is eclectic and messy, but it's all horror-related. Stickers, vintage posters, neon signs, street art: all with a horror theme. There are a lot of tongue-in-cheek nerd jokes too, like the walk-in freezer (you'll know it when you see it). Take your time soaking it all in. The interior vibe feels like a bar, with concrete floors, uncomfortable metal chairs that discourage lingering, a mish-mash of video games, a pool table, and metal music that is far too loud. The music was so loud that it caused the patrons to talk even louder, so we literally could barely hear each other during dinner -- even while scream-talking. Minus a star for that. It was deafening and very unpleasant. I'd actually consider getting a pie to go next time, it was so bad. The casual ordering system has two options: either scan and order and pay at your table (the qr code is on the napkin dispenser) or wait in line at the bar and order and pay. You'll be given a number (ours was a very appropriate 666), and a friendly employee will bring your pizza to the table when it's ready. The names of the pizzas are terrific and creative, all with horror names. It was impossible to resist the "Death to Piggy" pizza, which was topped with pepperoni, sausage, and bacon. Normally I'm a plain Jane cheese girl (they had some vegan options), but I compromised. We didn't order drinks since they had a self-service water dispenser (major kudos to that)! It took a while for our pizza to arrive, but I could watch everyone's order being freshly prepared and baked. Patience is key here. We visited on a very busy Friday night, so maybe it would be faster on a slower day of the week. If you're starving, they have fresh cheese and pepperoni slices that are ready to eat right away. Finally our pizza came out of the oven! It was served HOT. Like, HOT hot. The metal plate it was brought on kept it warm for almost the entire duration of our meal (and we are slow eaters). I LOVED this, because nobody wants cold cheese. We had to wait for it to cool down before taking that first bite. And oh, what a first bite it was! This pizza was incredibly flavorful! The savory pepperoni had the right crispiness to the bite and the spicy sausage added so much legit foodie flair to the entire pie. The bacon was chewy but great quality, and the cheese was just the right amount to cover the crust so you'd get a nice ratio of gooey goodness in every bite. The tomato sauce was probably my favorite part, as you could really taste the tomatoes. The crust was fine, but not my favorite (and I normally eat everyone else's leftover crust at a a pizza joint). There was quite a bit of oil, so I used the napkins to dab some off each slice. I mean, this was a pork-loaded pie, so that was to be expected. Definitely not health food! I didn't like that we had to eat on paper plates. These aren't the nice sturdy kind, but those super flimsy ones that just can't stand up to any kind of food. Even worse, all the grease from the pizza completely soaked through the thin paper. We weren't sure if we had to clean up after ourselves when we were done, so we asked a friendly barkeep. She said they take care of it, which is cool. I told her how much I loved the pizza, and she was so gracious and kind and said how much she hoped to see us back again soon. I realize a place like this may be out of a lot of people's comfort zones, especially if you're a tourist. But if you like to support truly local, and totally rad businesses, go to The 4th Horseman for pizza. If you're sensitive to loud music and don't like to scream through dinner, order it to go. Just wanted to clarify I had a valid, state approved mobile ID from the CA DMV. Not crazy to ask if you accept that. I was also with two other people who had their physical IDs. With spooky season in full effect this place was amazing . The vibes were immaculate ; Halloween movies were playing and some type of metal music maybe. It's like an average size seating area took a little bit of time but not too long. I order cheese knots those were 7 out of 10 . Kind of doughy but the flavors and all that cheese were sooo good . To compare the 4th Horseman to an adult Chuck E. Cheese would be fair, reasonable and accurate. But also limited. I want to describe the 4th Horseman if I were a judge on Project Runway. The casual viewer will see the grandeur of the flowing train or the pop color of a skirt that makes the piece a statement for the Golden Globe Award. But a judge will see more than the present wonderful, they will see the detail that makes the dress reminisce of a Dior cut, they will see that the stitching was perfect for a dense fabric, they will see the minor details that take a garb from fabulous to a piece of carefully constructed art. And thus, I offer this review to not only catalog the obvious wonder of the 4th Horseman but to also detail the minor details (I know what I did there) that makes this place a world made by brushstrokes, not only, splashes of paint. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by the baking odor of pizza. The odor was pleasurable. This was a good signal. My nose knew what was to come and convinced me to try the pizza. I am trying to lose weight so I only took two bites. But the pizza surprised me, it was better than I expected. It was New York style- large thin slices that you can fold a bit to hold better. And what I remember most about it, was the deep flavor of oregano. I wanted to enjoy more, but I took two big bites, and I restrained myself. When I first ordered I was supported by Emma. I did not have my glasses. She explained that they only serve single slices for their cheese and pepperoni. I wanted something better, something not basic. I asked for suggestions by way of this question-- What is your most popular pizza? She said something that I cannot remember, it was basically their meat lovers pizza. I reviewed their menu for this Yelp, and the official pizza I ordered was their Death to Piggy. The menu is creative not only because they have pizza names that are on brand for the joint like the Angel of Death or Rosemary's Baby, but also because they have a pizza with Tater Tots. I will try that pizza eventually, I owe it to the kid I was. Many of their pizza's can be converted into Vegan food. I applaud their attempt at culinary inclusivity but for me eating a pizza that is vegan is the real scarce- I think that I would be depriving myself. The place has a pool table and a section with arcade. The wonderful part of the arcade is that it had staples like Street Fighter and first person shooter games but it also had games that I had never played or heard before like Altered Beast. Thus, this place has offers the opportunity for discovery. I also enjoyed the multiple decorations. Like they had this skeleton that was pink with a scythe. And I wondered if Death, with its black cloak, is hiding a skeleton that mortals would be charmed by, like one that was hot pink? And thus decided to garb itself in ominous dress to command respect, like young surfers, who tend to wear puka shells and beach shorts, and dress with suit and ties for their summer internships. There is a lot of big things that can help you smile or wonder. The one that hit my funny bone the hardest was the poster of gremlin or goblin coming out of the toilet. The tag line said, "they will get you in the end." Ha. But the small details were the true charm of the joint Like I saw a bathroom sign that did not say gender neutral, but instead, explained that monsters, aliens and humans can enter as long as they was their hands. It does not matter, we all have need for a toilet (ultimate equalizer) but we all must be considerate, and a way we do that, is by washing our hands for ourselves and others. There was also a fridge with beers. There was a sign that asked patrons to check the price of the top tier beers because they were fancy s**t. The sign spoke in a way that was considerate but accessible. Mario was carrying a shell with a tortoise inside. The eyes of the tortoise were a bit hazed, I am sure you know why. The details built the world, the larger items supported it. My friend Conrad and I played pool. We were surprised that a lot of people were not waiting, until they were. We played a pair of guys. I sunk the black ball winning the game. The surrounding humans oohhed slightly when the ball sank in. Moments like this are what makes going out more than pleasurable, they make them affirming for a second. One of the guys, in the opposing team taught me how to hold my pool better. Do not put the pool table in the middle of your fingers. Put the weight of your body, into the stick, and put the stick somehow atop of your fingers. There is no specific way, just feel comfortable. So I learned in this bar too. I add this section to remind all of us what happens when one goes to a place that invites communion and play. So in a lot of ways this place is like an adult Chuck. The atmosphere is great if you're familiar with punk or metal shows. Ordering from your table is pretty easy if you want to, but always easier to do it in person if it's not busy. The pizza has been hit or miss. When it's good, it's great. But I've had some pretty meh slices on their slower days. But honestly, I was still having a good time. Upon arriving, I immediately liked the fact that they still have the courage to embrace diversity (a Pride Flag, BLM/Say Their Names posters...). Inside, the decor embraces metal, punk and horror movies, with eclectic decor and prominent, heavy music. The menu reflects the decor, and I had a hard time deciding, but eventually settled on the "Hellfire" -- a pizza spicy enough to come with a warning. Owner is always defensive and deflects any bad service feedback without accepting responsibility or trying to get better. I've been here many times, and it's always a great spot to grab some pizza. I usually go for the Death to Piggy and some garlic knots, but you really can't go wrong with a classic pepperoni either. The service is consistently solid. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, which just adds to the overall experience. The vibes are on point. There's usually a campy horror movie playing on the projector and great music filling the space. They clearly know their audience, and I'm absolutely here for it. Food: The pizza was great here. We got the Large pepperoni which IMO serves about 2-3 people since the slices are pretty wide. A little greasy but it's still good regardless. I recommend the canned IPA from the fridge, Mosaic Mamba as a great IPA to enjoy all night. Service: Staff there are very nice, friendly and attentive. Just go up and order your beer or grab a can from the fridge and pay up front. Our pizza came out in like 25 mins on a crowded Saturday night which wasn't too bad. Ambiance: This spot is really cool. They have inside and outside dining areas, a small bar to sit at, a gaming area with retro arcade games & a pool table, 2 bathrooms, a couple of TV's playing old school horror movies and lots of cool stuff all around while playing heavy metal music. Definitely one of my favorite spots to go to in LBC now. Tips: DO NOT park in the parking lot next door as they will tow you. There are 2 parking buildings a block over on 4th and Pine, park there for a few hours ($12-18, give or take). This place is 21+ and over, no kids. No pets, only service animals. Expect a small wait time outside as does get packed. Other than that, enjoy! read more

This is one of my personal top five pizza places to dine in. The pizza is delicious, the drinks are great, and the venue has a unique spooky ambiance that adds to the dining experience. They also have arcade games and a pool table, making it a great place to have fun. The customer service has always been good, I've never encountered any issues. However, when ordering extra toppings, be aware that the portions may be smaller than expected, despite the additional cost. So yes I've been here a thousand times, and I love it .... BUT the last couple times I have been for hangover brunch the bartender or whatever he is who has the mullet has been absolutely horrible to me. I don't know what I did to him lol. I don't ask for much I bring my drink to the counter and get some ice in a cup and I feel like o am putting him out. There is never a hi or a how ya doing it's just is that all?
