I've been going here for the past few summers and it is the best ice cream i've had EVER!!! It's Janes all natural ice cream it's so delicious and creamy. My favorite is salty pretzel or mocha crunch. They have a large selection of ice cream and it always takes me forever to choose! The ladies who work there are so wonderful and friendly, I can tell they like what they do and make my experience so much better. I definitely recommend stopping by if you are in the area prices are not bad and don't even get me started in the tipsy shakes (a shake with a shot) the black Russian is super good. I went there 3 days ago with my wife because I had heard good reviews about this place. I decided to go with the lavender ice cream which was to die for. I would have never thought lavender would be an ice cream flavor but it was absolutely delicious. I also like the fact that the ice cream is locally made. Also tried some of my wife's Beacon brownie ice cream with came with two scoops of double chocolat , on top of a homemade brownie with whipped cream. The chocolate ice cream with Rich just as you would expect and the brownie was light but very flavorful. The only thing they need is more places to sit otherwise it is a little gem in the town of Beacon. I will be going back to try the wine flavored ice cream which seems like an interesting concept. read more

Ice cream here was expensive but it was so good. They make it in the store and have many different flavors to choose from such as lavender and green tea. They also charge for any toppings. This place has delicious ice cream and unique flavors. They also have wine flavored ice creams which are tempting. We had fantastic toasted coconut and mocha ice creams, also grapefruit sorbet and salted pretzel ice cream which tasted like butter pecan somewhat saltier and even more yummy when offset with the grapefruit. The Beacon Creamery is a hidden Gem! It is located right at the beginning of Main Street in Beacon. The ice cream is so smooth! Pricey...but smooth! I would recommend this for anyone who is tired and hot after climbing Mount Beacon ;) read more

Got here just as the store was closing - the woman scooping was nice enough to stay open a few more minutes to let us walk down to the ATM and back before ordering ice cream. Good selection, impossible to miss (about the first place you run into on Main Street), cheery servers. No credit cards accepted - for a cheaper ATM don't go to the cafe across the street, but rather to the bank a little down the way. After a full day at Dia, it was nice to relax with ice cream and take the ferry across the Hudson. read more

This ice cream parlor is ADORRRRR-able!! We stopped here on a nice spring Saturday and during the dog parade, they allowed dogs in :D SUPER THUMBS UP. Their ice cream is homemade as well. Their parlor has a beautiful ice cream parlor feel especially with the colorful stools. I loved swiveling while enjoying my ice cream. They have the usual flavors but also someone unique ones like ginger, green tea---I noticed one called midsummer night's dream or something like that. I had the lemon sorbet, which was very refreshing and had bits of lemon in it! I could taste how homemade it was! I loved how friendly everyone was at the creamery on a cold, March day after a snow storm. Selection is going to look a little lacking if you're used to the Perry's resellers, but the quality and freshness easily cancel out the lack of selection. Yum! Mint summer night and cappuccino kailua

This must be the summer of tiny scoops for Beacon Creamery. The first time I went there this season, I ordered a small cup ($4) and the guy gave us a very small scoop but then saw his co-worker give a regular size portion to another customer and took back our cups and said, "Compared to her scoops mine are really small", and gave us what you would expect from your average ice cream shop. The second time I went there the same guy gave us tiny scoops again. The girl who gave us normal scoops was no longer working there. Maybe she got fired for giving people normal portions? What a shame. They serve Jane's which is a pretty good local brand and have a decent selection. I guess this is the way they have decided to do business. Charge more, give less. Needless to say, I'm not going back. read more

I would give this place a solid 3.5 the owner was friendly but a little hard of hearing. It was a cold night so the place was mostly empty. He did not have a lot flavors out. I had to ask him 2-3 times for a tasting and my boyfriend asked for a two scoops and he ended up with one. There were seasonal ornaments around the shop which was cute but the place is small which made it more crowded and I guess since its winter there was no seating. The ice cream is delicious there is no argument with this. I am very picky when it comes to ice cream and this was perfectly rich and hit the spot. After hiking Mt. Beacon, we came to Main Street for lunch and ice cream. We stopped here after reading the reviews for the best ice cream. It's a little shop, not really any room for eating inside, but that worked for us. We took our ice cream around the corner and ate it under a tree in the shade. They do have a little patio w/ covered tables, but it was too hot for that. My husband and I split two scoops - cappuccino and coconut almond joy. I really couldn't decide between getting a latte across the street or ice cream, so the suggestion to get the cappuccino ice cream was perfect, and it went so well with the coconut almond joy flavor. Our kids got the deep chocolate (intense, delicious) and the butternut crunch (also delicious). No pics for this review since we all dove into the ice cream so fast there was no time :) read more

Great place! They are very honest and have amazing flavors. The people are really friendly and are informed with their products. Their ice cream is natural so you won't find those food dyes/coloring. They happily explained to me the difference between mint chip you find at other places that have a green color versus theirs which is a vanilla color because they use natural ingredients without using chemicals. My friend had one scoop of mocha ice cream and it had a strong but not overpowering taste of coffee and she absolutely loved it, being a coffee-lover. I always return to my all-time favorite, chocolate ice cream and had a chocolate malted milk shake, absolutely loving the dark, rich chocolate in a malted milk shake! They do not make their own ice cream here but serve Jane's ice cream, which is home made in Kingston, one hour's drive north of Beacon. To be forewarned, there are only two tables inside and there is seating outside. The parking lot to the side of the store is small and difficult to get in and out of. Better to park on the street or use the free public parking lot up the street behind the bus stop. The staff made us and the family who came in at the same time feel welcome, offered samples and gave us plenty of time to make up our minds. Definitely we'll be coming back! read more

Stopped by this little gem of a place with my sister after reading some great reviews on here. I'm so glad we did! The two employees working were so welcoming and friendly! They let us try a lot of the flavors before we committed to two each, and the ice cream was so thick and creamy, just delicious!!! The shiraz ice cream totally blew my mind! It really tasted like Shiraz! As a pregnant woman, that goes a LONG WAY! My only sadness was that I couldn't mix the Shiraz ice cream with the Killer Chocolate- they told me the two interact badly and make a sour taste, and I trust them. So I went with Killer Chocolate, which was so rich and wonderful, and Peanut Butter Fudge, which tasted to fresh and amazing! Perfect combo! I'll be coming back up to this place with a huge freezer bag so I can bring home a whole bunch! read more

If you haven't stopped at the Beacon Creamery you are missing out! The ice cream is amazing and the staff is super friendly. As far as the few negative reviews on here I would have to disagree with them all 100%. First of all Jane's ice cream is home made in Kingston with no artificial flavoring and all natural ingredients. There is no fake mint taste. If you want to compare it to McDonald's you are eating chemically enhanced ice cream. Oh wait, there is your fake flavoring. As far as the bathrooms go, not every store on main street has a public bathroom. There is one located across the street at the welcome center or even at the coffee house. When I went to the creamery with my nephew and they were more than happy to let him use their sink to wash his hands. I've also witnessed one of the owners give out wet paper towels to mothers to clean their kids up. If you want to know about this place, go check it out for yourself.
