It would take several pages to tell you how amazing this facility truly is! My husband, who had…read morejust gotten home from work as a mechanic, had a stroke in Oct 2024. When he was released from the hospital he needed intense physical therapy. He was in RIO for 8 days. When he got there he couldn't walk or stand by himself. When he left after 8 days he could do both with the help of a walker. His speech also improved greatly. The staff here is amazing! They take the time to get to know their patients and their families. They work one on one with each patient. They cheer them on with every milestone. You couldn't ask for a better place to help your loved one get the care they need. We didn't think he would be able to go to RIO as it wasn't covered by the crappy insurance we had at the time. But the doctors and staff at Providence worked their magic and by the grace of God he was able to get the best care I've ever seen! They also had 2 family "update days" while he was there. The staff and my family all got together around a very large table while they told us of his progress and what to expect next. If you ever need great Physical Therapy, fight for this great place! Update: 4-24-25 My husband is doing great! He can walk without his walker but with occasional use of a cane. His speech is near normal unless he's very tired. He's driving again and baking (favorite past time) up a storm. Going back to work is still a few months off but he'll get there. Our family and I are forever grateful!

I cannot say enough good things about the experience we had with RIO. My 89 year old father had a…read morestroke and was in ICU for nearly a week. His doctor over at Tualatin Meridian Hospital really wanted my dad to go to RIO but it was out of network. Some kind of miracle came through between the hospitals, doctors and insurance and he was approved and moved to RIO. Their reputation is the among the best with the hospital staff and doctors, so we were quite eager to have him go there. My sister is a retired PT with a doctorate and she really wanted him there too. My dad had to undergo 3 weeks of intensive therapy, from PT, OT to speech therapy. The improvements gained during his stay were nothing short of miraculous. He relearned to walk, swallow and gain use of his right hand while there, among many other small miracles. They trained him how to get out of bed and use the walker safely so he could go home instead of to the a nursing home or assisted care. He is happily home again with my mom. He has home health care and is seeing improvements every day. I think that every minute counts when it comes to strokes and the fact that he got in at the right time with the right care meant everything for his progress. My sister, who has a degree in PT and knows her stuff was super impressed with all the care and treatment. Hospital food it terrible, but we were allowed to bring in food so my dad could regain his strength, so that helped a lot. While dad was in ICU, no visitors were allowed because of Covid, but RIO allowed 3 visitors to come and go which meant my mom, sister and I, who live closest, were able to visit, which lifted his spirits. But, there's no place like home and he is home safe and sound and luckily on his way to recovery. The best part was when he got to ring a bell 3 times for graduating and the staff gathered and applauded. Still makes me very emotional. It is the most important graduation of our lives. My sister will be writing a Google review so you can read the more technical side of his experience. If you have a choice, I give RIO my highest recommendation. I think the staff are angels.

My first week was great. Calmness and a feeling of extreme safety. It was going really well because…read morethe clients were easier clients to handle. Then week 2 happened. The house had a lot of turnover, with half the house discharging and a new batch of 6-7 clients coming in within 2-3 days. One client who arrived has severe bipolar, and it was immediately clear that she was living in a manic episode due to being untreated for her bipolar. She passed the company's "assessments", was put in detox, and like all other clients was encouraged during detox to attend groups if she felt up to it. From the first hour of her arrival, the house turned from a peaceful place to a very chaotic place, with this lady screaming, crying, shaking, and drowning out clients with her voice. Every day for 4 days, I reported to a new staff member (to protect myself and the group) that this person was incredibly unwell, triggering clients, affecting my mental health/recovery and that of others, and incapable of understanding what she did. The onus to handle this was put unfairly on clients, and by day 6 it was clear that none of the staff really understood how chaotic those first 4 days with her were. What wasn't clear at all was why a person with a severe, untreated mental health disorder was handled so lackadaisically by staff, as if a lion was released on us with no questions asked and slowly eating a group of sensitive addicts apart. None of the staff did anything about each of my reports nor any of the reports by other clients who were experiencing the same thing. Not even a quick email that our mental safety was at risk because this untreated individual was let loose on all of us. Just lip service and a serious problem that went in one ear and out the other. By day 3 I was entering a depression episode because handling this individual was exhausting and regularly triggering me. By day 5 I was curled up in a ball in bed, only capable of leaving my room for the bare necessities. By this point the lady was finally on medication that was somewhat helping her. Unfortunately for me, it was too late, my depression was getting worse, and I was realizing the staff's complete lack of response was shattering my sense of safety at the facility. After all, if this was a regular occurrence, how would I be able to heal? It would be chaos on top of chaos, and that rips safety and trust apart. The only staff member who genuinely understood me was Monica (a nurse). She apologized for the staff because she saw they did something really wrong. I was given a medical reason to take the time I needed to heal. All hell broke loose on day 6. I was still very depressed, so I was only able to attend part of the first group. I went downstairs to distract myself, and a rude staff member named Stacy told me I can't watch TV and had to be in group no matter what (this is false and she did not care to know my medical reason). Given Stacy never cared the reason, I made it clear my mind was going through hell and watching tv was keeping my mind from "feeling like I want to die". She takes this to the clinical director (Julia) saying I said I want to die (I did not), and Julia just assumed this was true. Julia yelled directly at me saying I'm either going to a hospital for suicide watch or I'm in every group with no exceptions. Again, false because many clients skip group for many reasons that are perfectly acceptable. I was then told by my substance abuse counselor that I was making all of this up because my brain was putting me through withdrawal. I was done with the excuses and knew I had to leave for my safety. Now the crazy part: they kicked me out and lied to my family, saying I was the problem, punching/kicking walls, wasn't taking my meds, never going to group, and that the lady in question was sent to the hospital 3 days before. Not a single word of this was true. I now have no options. This place has possibly ruined my life to protect their pride at all costs. I do not recommend.

The connections between my counselors and staff will always hold a special place in my heart. Countless memories will stick with me from my 30 day stay. I originally went in for alcohol and depression and had the owner calling me daily to check on me in a time when I felt like I had no one else. I highly highly recommend this recovery center. It's truly a A+ experience and I hope anyone going through the similar problems gives this place a try! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping me become the best version of myself!

I suffer from PTSD. When I went to this facility, they advertised they were 'dual diagnosis' and…read morePROMISED me they would help me through therapy. We discussed EMDR, and I was promised they had a therapist who was excellent. They did a lot of talking to get me to go. It was not nearby, rather 4 hours away. I got zero therapy in 5 weeks. They kept saying I "wasn't ready". I've been ready for years! The 'shrink' was on video - for about a half hour. He was from Guyana or somewhere, I don't know. He was not diving deep into anything that was on my mind. He actually agitated me. I saw him 2 times on video, then he managed to show up for one short session to toss a med my way. No therapy in my opinion. The office was extremely disorganized. You can tell who is in recovery and those who aren't. Many were obviously better than me. They listen in on phone calls. There is no privacy, and if you need to get on their laptop for Amazon to order essentials, your time will be limited. They had control of my phone. It got dropped and front cracked. It then wouldn't ring but once. No one took responsibility. Groups were just that, if they weren't cancelled, which they often were. If no one was leading the group, they would put on TED talks, and we would watch for an hour. One time in group with a dozen of us the 'counselor' had us write things about each other. Who, in our minds, was the most adventurous, artistic, kept the most secrets, etc. Then we read them aloud. What did that accomplish? Just an example. Busy work. However, there is much boredom there, with many empty hours. The dispensary is ridiculous. There are people behind the door who are handing out meds who shouldn't be. Someone should know what they are doing at all times. If you put yourself in this environment, count and check your meds and vitamins. Seriously. There were many mistakes. There is ageism at this facility. I thought it was my imagination, but two of the residents apologized for the way I was being treated. They were treated completely different when I was w them. Another resident told her husband on visiting day that I was the 'scapegoat' because I was the oldest. The food left something to be desired if you don't eat meat because you don't get much protein. My protein consisted of sauteed mushrooms, yogurt, milk, hard boiled egg. The kitchen staff was kind and caring enough. I believe budgeting came into play and they couldn't fit vegetarian patties or whatever into the menu. I ate salads the entire time, with a boiled egg. It got really tired, but they did their best, I'm sure. So many things were sideways. I walked on eggshells because I wanted treatment. I had planned on staying 90 days, even after I found their hidden charge I hadn't been informed about, paying rent for the next levels of treatment. Interestingly, they charged my insurance $85,000 for that 35 day stay. Get ready to hand your card for paying prescriptions. The pharmacies in that little town overcharge, and do not work with insurance. In other words, you need to deal with all of that to get reimbursed after you've left. I didn't get all my papers, receipts, and they failed to give me all my meds and personal vitamins from the dispensary when I left. They had to send them. I highly recommend staying away from this toxic environment. Especially if you are older, have any disabilities, or need a special diet. What was promised to me was not delivered. They fell short in so many ways, and it is still affecting me to this day. There is a lot hidden behind the beautiful photoshopped scenery on the website. That old Great Western hotel is dilapidated in many ways. The sliders wouldn't shut all the way, so there was very cold wind that would come in the rooms, and this was January-February months. The ADA unit was rather isolated and was the room time forgot. It had the same everything from carpeting, old broken kitchen appliances that for whatever reason they hadn't bothered to move out. The drapes were shredded from the outside, and one sorry hanging wicker lamp was dismally left from the early 70's over a small corner over a little table. It was so depressing.
