We ordered during covid so only delivery available. Considering the time spent in a styrofoam container in a vehicle the food was amazing. Niagara area leaves something to be desired in the area of restaurants so for pub food these guys really delivered. Great atmosphere. Opted to sit inside although the patio looked awesome (great view). The staff were awesome. Very friendly and polite. I asked what was the most ordered thing on the menu and the immediate response was "The Upper Deck Burger". Cheddar and bacon on what seemed like a home made patty. I am a huge burger guy so I went for it. My fiancee asked about the sweet and spicy stir fry and was told it was very good and not really spicy at all. My burger was definately charbroiled. Just the right amount of crispy. The chef must have been generous with the spicy tonight for my fiancee's stir fry though as her lips were burning after one bite. I tried it and felt the heat after a couple of bites. Saw something that looked like pepper or something in the bottom of a glass after drinking most of the pop which brought the rating down to 3 stars. Overall a good spot. Noticed an awesome looking dish at another table and was told it was crab cakes. Ordered some to take home for later. read more

Although we have visited several times before and had good food and service, this time we weren't so lucky. The service was good but my wife had the boneless chicken and brie sandwich that had tiny bones in it and I had the steak sandwich that was about 60% grizzle and inedible. We typically do not complain but we brought this to the waitress's attention. She asked if we would like anything else but we kinda lost our appetite. After a couple of drinks and a dessert we received the bill and to our disappointment we received no discount, or any sort of effort to rectify these poor meals. Although it is not entirely the waitress's fault, we tipped our usually 20% but agreed we may never return. This is a good lesson for the management team, if you plan to be a long standing establishment like many others in the city, you need to keep your customers happy so they return. read more

Not that St. Catharines needs another sports bar, but this place is great regardless. Its chic and shiny without the attitude, with friendly and welcoming staff. The food is good, the quality is hit or miss.. For example the salad that I had on the side was actual mixed greens (not just your typical, cheap iceberg lettuce), which I was impressed with, but the cucumber slice on top was dried out. The food I ordered had a side of vegetables that you could tell were frozen vegetables. The prices and portions are decent. Beer is a little pricey. Presentation is really well done, with beautiful plates and bowls. Service is fairly attentive, last time I went on a slow night, the server was so attentive that i felt like she wanted me to leave. I had the grown-up grilled cheese with brie and pear. it was GREAT and included a side salad for 10.50$ My friend had poutine of the day (!) which was good and enormous, but unfortunately the fries are frozen, not fresh-cut. I really enjoyed my experience at this restaurant and will likely go back again. I just hope that with time, they will transition to using fresh vegetables and fresh-cut fries rather than frozen. The patio and view from the deck in the summer is worth going to check out this new restaurant! read more

We have been to The Upper Deck three times in the past few months and have loved it every time. All three visits were right after they opened, so while I can't speak to how they handle peak times, we have been very pleased with our visits. The staff have been professional and polite and the food has been hot and delicious. This previous visit they switched over one of the tv screens to the Olympic sport we wanted to watch instead of the other programming that was on. The view towards the water is nice and relaxing as well. We try to hit up a different venue each weekend, but I have grown a little partial to their jalepeno popper dip and my husband is a big fan of the Upper Deck burger! read more

Very cold, felt like no heat. (Washrooms were even colder) I looked around and everyone had their winter jackets on. First and only time here. I Ordered a Sandwich and Caesar salad. Salad arrived with no bacon. Chicken was bland boiled dried out and cold. All toppings were on the other half of my sandwich. Very disappointed. Was over 60$ for lunch. read more

I want to like this place. Its in a part of town that need a spot like this. The neighborhood is desperate for a good restaurant/pub. Its in a beautiful location (why are so few places in St. Catharines not on the water?) The decor and atmosphere are both good. All the pieces are in place for the spot to be very successful. We have been here once a month since last Fall and have tried and tried to like it. Yet, no matter how many times we return with the best of intentions, we just can't like the Upper Deck. Here is why: The menu looks and sounds good, but the food is mediocre on the best of nights, and on the worst of nights its just bad. Quality here is suspect. Quantity and price is fair, so the value is good - if the food were at least decent, but its not. Drinks are over priced relative to other spots in the area The waitstaff is OK, though for the most part they are high school kids that know very little about the menu. They have lots of big screen TV's though they are all tuned to the same odd channel and you are forced to watch obscure sports that no one would ever care about. The last 3 times we've been here, I've had orders mixed up, drinks made incorrectly and have had to send back a meal because it was just plain ole bad. In every case there was no adjustment made to the bill nor did the staff do anything to correct the problems, just a shoulder shrug and smile. I would have to say the honeymoon for the Upper Deck is over. We've given it a fair shake and they've lost our business despite out best efforts to like the place.....we just can't. The really bad news is, when I talk to other locals about the place, I hear people tell me exactly the same things. Just take a look in the place, its much more quite than it was a few months ago. Word of mouth is a killer.... Great idea, great location, bad execution. Here's hoping they take things to heart and create a more inspired menu, with higher quality ingredients, do a better job of preparing food and train the staff to look after customers. We really, really, want to like this place, we really do. If I start to hear a better buzz I'd definitely return but for now my business will be going to other spots in the area. . read more

If i could choose a ZERO rating i would. Made the MISTAKE of going back to this place after having 3 bad experiences with hair in the food. Today after waiting 25 minutes to order our food, followed by a 50 minute wait for the food to come out there was a nice long hair wrapped around my fish taco. I will never go back again. read more

Sat Bar side; good atmosphere, turned on the Jays game for us. Great server; awesome attitude and attentive. Owner was a butthead but the serve made up for it. Had a potato chip dip thing; AWESOME, loved the dip. Both of us had steak(surf and turf); asked for medium rare both were over cooked, got new ones. Not the best place for steak but it was acceptable. Steaks were discounted 50%. Overall, great place to chill. I'd go again. read more
