    Halibut and chips
    Patrick F.

Been coming here for years, always a great experience. Had a family birthday dinner here recently - after not having visited for about 7~8 years - and was pleased to find Olde Yorke is maintaining their high standards. We were a multi-generational group consisting of my wife and I, our young son, and an elderly aunt, and all of us felt welcome and well served. The food was as good as I remembered, the halibut and chips I had craved all week did not disappoint.

Olde Yorke Fish & Chips Parking: Extremely difficult, I arrived at their parking lot before the restaurant open. Atmosphere: [[HIGHLIGHT]]Old school pub interior from the 60's and space between each table are reasonable.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service: Family style restaurant welcoming service. Presentation: Most authentic and appetizing presented Fish and Chip I had in the GTA. Comparable to the ones I had in England countryside (please refer to my photos). Taste: CHOWDER Homemade: Good balance of clam and seafood flavour (not too strong or mild). Very smooth and creamy traditional English chowder. HADDOCK & CHIPS: Light thin crispy on the outside and moist fish filet inside. It is not overcook nor too salty. I really like the salad option instead of fries. HOMEMADE APPLE CRISP served with ice cream: Not too sweet and I really like the cold / hot feeling. Perfect dessert to end this meal. Overall: The best Fish and Chip I had in the GTA, period.

Is it safe to say this is the best fish and chips in Toronto? It's definitely better than the ones back in Bay Area. I did get a bit of that UK vibes here. Food was pretty good although I'd prefer a bit lighter batter. Tried their halibut and chips this time. I love how meaty it was. The flavors was a lot better than the cod too in my option. Highly recommend this spot! The staff was also very friendly and attentive.

Fisherman's platter with Haddock, 3 scallops, 3 shrimp. Amazingly crispy and fresh.

OMG!!! At first I was going to do just a check in here But This visit deserves a full 5 star review. First the service was awesome. But, mainly the fisherman's platter with a huge piece of haddock and 3 shrimp and 3 scallops was beyond fantastic!!! I had dined in here instead of getting my fish and chips fix as a takeout order. So, maybe that is why....... The food was awesome. The fries and all the seafood was hot and crispy as it should be. The scallops and shrimp were nice and tender and had a sweet taste to them and they were obviously fresh. The fish (haddock) was amazing even though I always recommend halibut. This haddock lived up to the fish and chips brand. I can't say enough, food, service and the Olde York has done it again. Humongous 5 stars again.

Hands-down the best fish & chips in Toronto. The batter is crispy and golden without being too heavy on the breading. The fish is flakey and soft inside. We ordered at the take out window and were given packaged tartar sauce, ketchup, salt/pepper. Make sure to opt in for the salt as the fries do not come pre-seasoned. Although the price comes at $20 a portion for fish & chips, the piece of fish is quite large and the thick pub-style fries were great.

I've been here a few times over the years and the haddock and chips this visit was amazing! Crispy, tasty batter and the fish was nice size. The onion rings were fantastic! They were so huge and super crispy! Only disappointment was the tartar sauce which tasted strange and served in these super tiny containers. It's difficult to describe but the taste and texture didn't compliment the fish. I'm told it's made in-house but it tasted more like those little takeout packets. Tartar sauce is important to me so l was surprised this was a let down. Services was good and fast but our waitress screwed up someone's order that affected mine and almost handed me a plate with just the haddock fish without fries etc. Stood my ground and asked for full plate which made me happy. See photo! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance was warm and cozy though it was crowded on a Saturday and a bit of a wait at the entrance.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We were expecting a lunchtime crowd anyways. Definitely one of the best traditional British fish n chips places in Toronto!

We love fish and chips especially my kid. Came here based on Yelp reco's and really enjoyed their halibut and haddock fish. They give you a large single piece with hand cut home made french fries that are fried to perfection-crispy on the outside with a golden color. Catsup is home made as well. Cole slaw was a little on the sweeter side. In California, we don't usually have fried halibut so this was a little different as well as the haddock. Both were firm and flaky and the batter was perfectly seasoned and crispy using their own family recipe. Service was excellent with a very attentive staff. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance was English pub style with tables surrounding the bar.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I'd come back next time I'm visiting Toronto.

Best fish and chips in the city. Halibut seems to be the go to fish here and worth paying a bit extra for but the light and flakey cod was excellent as well. Hand-cut fries, sorry, chips are as good as expected. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Old time British decor adds to the experience.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service is as friendly as can be. Prices are reasonable. No reservations so be prepared to wait a bit if coming on a busy Friday night. Definitely worth the wait.

I waited 6 years to go back here and have their halibut fish and chips. I am from California and we don't have such amazing fish and chips there . At least I haven't come across. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is a little cozy place and has its own typical customers.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The fish was super fresh and flaky . The batter was just as crunchy and onion rings were huge like I never had before. I will be patiently waiting for my next visit to Toronto to go here again ! Cheers

This is one of a select few places where you get traditional British fish & chips . The fish batter is light and crispy , fries are hand cut and well made , tasty coleslaw and tartar sauce ( although that is away from traditional ! ). The restaurant has 2 sections - the first room has the bar as well as booths and then there is the Solarium. Definitely a must visit for great fish & chips with welcoming, professional and friendly service. There is also a full bar and excellent selection of beers.

I was invited for lunch by a friend that I used to work with years ago. He is one of the nicest guys I've met and very generous. He suggested we go to Olde Yorke for fish and chips. I had heard about this place but have never been. We had their Halibut & Chips, with a side of Mushy Peas, a British tradition. The fish was perfectly cooked and was delicious! The Mushy Peas were also quite good. This was a good meal! Dessert was a deep fried Mars bar with ice cream. Yummy! This family owned restaurant is located in the Leaside neighbourhood, near Bayview and Eglinton. The decor is a reflection of a British Pub, with the owners having roots in England, going back generations. It works! If you like Fish & Chips, check out this place! Thank you for lunch, Tony!

Still our fave Fish and chips location. Really hard to beat. We go for the traditional (cod and chips). If you go on Monday to Wednesday, they have a special where you can get a pint with a meal for +$5. This place is always busy and the food speaks for itself. If you want you can add on Mushy Peas. They also have deep fried Mars Bars.

A cup of English Breakfast tea and I was right back at my Nana's breakfast table! In addition to the crumpets, we ordered beef & onion pies, steak pies, chicken korma pies and slices; even Cornish pasties. They were all delicious and just as I imagined they would be. The pies had buttery, flakey puff pastry crusts with rich, flavorful fillings. (if I have any complaint at all, it's that the heating instructions are quite small and sometimes hard to read, especially if the ink blurs due to moisture when frozen.) As soon as I ordered, I realized, no one would be home on the dates it would arrive so I sent Parker's an email. Within an hour or two, I heard back from Jessica who had already rescheduled our shipment for a week later as requested. The package arrived right on time in perfect condition, packed in dry chill packs. Great customer service! You have to try these folks. We will be placing a new order soon.

As a guest at a family celebration, I didn't catch the exact price of our menu, but judging from similar ones online, I'd estimate it around $798. Before committing to a $1,000+ spread, it's worth visiting to explore the more accessible offerings. The roasted suckling pig with jellyfish is a dish of contrasts: warm, rich pork paired with cool, crunchy jellyfish. It may have been my portion, but the pork leaned slightly fatty. Still, it was moist with a delicate, crispy skin. Instead of the usual deep-fried crab claw, Queen's serves a scallop with shrimp paste. It's easier to eat with a knife and fork, and while the sauce softens the crisp exterior, it adds a savoury depth without overwhelming the seafood. The crispy salted egg yolk prawns were impressively large and well cooked. I don't usually gravitate towards salted egg yolk, finding it heavy, but here it added a pleasant richness. Since the coating sits on the shell, it's easy to control how much you get. I also appreciated the inclusion of vegetables throughout the meal. The scallops came with gai lan, while the prawns were paired with broccoli, helping balance out the richness. Swapping out the usual shark fin soup, the bird's nest soup with minced chicken and egg white was a welcomed change. The broth was thick and silky, but the minced chicken added some much-needed texture. This is a long review for the rest go to Gastro World.
