Cool industrial coffee shop in the middle of Chinatown. A lot of locals use this place to work and the atmosphere is nice with lots of industrial decor. Coffee was good but the lemonade was overly sour and watery. The employees were "meh". I mean, would it kill you to smile or say thank you? The bathrooms in the back are clean, private, and well stocked if you need a place to go. There is no air conditioning so it can swelter on a hot Summer day. read more

Specifically walked from our hotel to try this place out, passing a "certain coffee chain". I got a soy vanilla latte and my husband got an iced mocha (extra sweet). We always get the same thing, so it should taste similar anywhere. Pretty decent cup of coffee. The latte art on mine was lovely, not too hot and the foam nice and creamy. read more

This place is in Chinatown. If you walk into the Chinatown arch its on your left. I really like the ambiance and decore of this coffeeshop. It has that industrial feel with red bricks and old decorations. It has a lot of wood and earth tones. Im a big fan of wood and rustic design. On one wall, they have old vehicle license plates from different states and cities in North America, New York, Alberta, BC, Maine, Illinois, etc. It's a nice touch. There's plenty of tables inside but there are tables outside by the side walk as well. The crowd comes and goes by batches. It will be busy then it will die down. They serve pastries and grilled sandwiches. I tried the tuna with hot peppers panini. It's a huge serving, rare these days. Hot off the grill and fresh! They bring it to your table. Good value for your money. Staff is wonderful and friendly. One time the barista remembered what coffee I like, the size, the roast, and how I like it black. I was pleasantly surprised that they can remember as they are mostly busy. Good customer service, and memory! And because it's busy they hustle, and keep vacated tables clean as soon as people leave. Only complain I have is they close early, 4:00pm. They said it was due to the pandemic but eventually might open late. My request is to have later hours as typically I can only come after work hours during week days. After having coffee at this place, one can stroll thru Chinatown stopping at the countless shops lining the street. Don't miss Fan Tan Alley as it's easy to overlook it. It's a small alley lined with more stores. Oh, and its better to walk as Victoria is a city designed for walking and cycling. There's parking but you have to pay for it. Check this coffee place out! Whimsical location within Victoria's Chinatown. The business has loads of character. Variety of pastries and paninis. Coffee was tasty, seemed to be a bit of a lighter roast when we went. Appears to be a popular spot as the place was pretty packed at 0800 on a Friday. There is street parking and a paid parking lot close by. They offer milk alternatives. I don't have any comparisons of coffee shops in the Victoria area, but I would recommend this place as it is a solid choice for coffee and a bite to eat. read more

Bean around the world are one good coffee spot in victoria, located in chinatown you're always sure to have a good coffee there as they roast their coffee themselves. The place is nice and even if they have food it's not really the reason peoples go there. Was in Chinatown in Victoria for a bit and was craving a pick me up caffeine boost and this place hit the spot! It seemed to be one of the only coffee places among all the Asian stores and restaurants. This place was quaint, clean, and cute. It was very busy for a Monday early afternoon, but we got what we ordered in a timely manner..... I've only Bean Around The World once, but that's more than most can say. Recently, I moved downtown or (Low Town as some are calling it), just outside of China Town. My aunt and grandma decided to come over, check the place out and go for brunch. We were going to go to a cafe down the street but the line up was out the door. Can anyone guess which cafe it was? 5 stars for you if you do. So we ended up going to Bean Around The World... I must say, it was awesome. I enjoyed the layout of the place, the atmosphere, the food/drinks. The staff was friendly and I want to go back! It may not be local to Victoria, as I think it MIGHT BE a British Columbia chain or a Vancouver/Victoria thing but it may just be Victoria. I just feel as though someone told me there is one over in Vancouver- but do not take my word for it. Nonetheless, it's super cute, very cozy and I will definitely be going back. For 3 drinks and 2 pastries it was about $17.00 which is not bad at all. I highly recommend! read more

I so love this place. I don't know if it's just Victoria, but everything in this town is extra special. But what's not to love? Bean Around the World could be your own oasis and have a cup of coffee all by yourself or gather a few friends to have a few laughs​ over lattes and cafe americanos. Mind you though, the place isn't big, so it would be hard to fit in a group of 6 especially during a busy time. It sounds funny, but this coffee shop has truly one of the best beans - their coffee taste great. Move over Starbucks. I last time I went to Bean Around the World with some associates, the customer service was very attentive and it was a business place. That means others find the establishment to be good too. The service and product is suspect if any business is dead quiet with almost no other customers. That would be a sign of various problems in the business. The only complaint I have with this business is that it closes too early at around 4:30 pm on weekends. Weekends are when most of the people are work free and want to spend money and hang out. This coffee shop does not want more money? The food item selection for the coffee shop is not a lot, but what they have is tasty. They have cakes, soups, sandwiches, sausage rolls, etc. read more

We always have an Americano to start and will then later have a panini with soup when we can no longer resist the urge to bite into the delicious sandwich. Bean has always been our go-to coffee shop downtown as it is a quaint little place with so much character. The brick walls and antique objects throughout the cafe create an atmospheric tone. We usually walk all the way from our home near Gonzales beach, and will stay until we have to walk back and pick our kids up from school, so we treasure every minute we're there. read more

BATW roasts most of their own coffee and gets some from Cowboy Coffee. The Black Dragon mixture (a secret blend apparently) is the best tasting espresso I have had in Victoria. The service is fast and the funky cafe at the end of China town is a great place to relax. I get my whole beans here and save 10% when I bring back the bag or use my own container. BATW's headquarters is in North Vancouver so I guess that makes them more local than the corporate coffee shops on every other corner, you know the one with the staff with grande attitudes and not so good coffee. read more
