This coffee shop was one of the recommendations from our hotel! They definitely came through with it because this place was soo good!! My boyfriend was obsessed! This coffee shop is pretty decent sized so thankfully by the time we got our order in we got a place to sit down. And this place was very very busy for afternoon coffee, I can't imagine how busy they get when they open. Being a coffee lover I was so happy with the coffee! My boyfriend got a cinnamon dulce latte and loved it, no expired espresso shots in either of drinks and the latte looked so good-everyone knows we eat with our eyes too and I was so glad we got our order for here and got the whole experience. **12/1/10 Update: I found out why I got stares when ordering the regular sized Americano with an extra shot -- it already comes with 4 tall shots (6-8 regular sized shots) in it** Ran across the street on a dreary (and very wet) mid-November day in Victoria. Ended up getting the small-sized Americano with an extra shot. Flavor of espresso is excellent here. Can you say BA-ZING -- I am wide awake right now. Co-worker picked up a tea off of their unique tea "menu". Display of sandwiches and cold salads is very appealing as well meriting a future visit for lunch. Nice little area with minimalist decor to sit and enjoy an otherwise gloomy day. read more

I took the ferry from Port Angeles, WA over this morning & was quite early to check-into my hotel, so I asked the hotel staff where to go for some great coffee. I'm glad they pointed me here & even more fortunate I got here when I did. The place isn't that big, & has like 5 tables & a window bench with like 4 or 5 seats. They have a great looking deli case & prices for the food & coffee are reasonable (well take in account that USA currency isn't valued as much these days, so you're prob paying more). I came in here for a coffee meeting the other day and it was absolutely lovely! I am notorious for making bad jokes and interacting with staff more than most people wherever I go, so when I get quips and jokes right back? Love it! I had an iced americano and their pecan tart (mmmm) which were both super good. I had my americano black and I must say, it doesn't need anything else! A strong, bitter taste from the first sip but after that, the little bit of ice that melts throughout makes it plenty smooth and gets rid of the need for milk. The tart? Ohhh boy, was that ever good. I love tarts of any kind and pecan is my favourite, so I was really excited to see some gourmet ones in the shop. Just the right amount of buttery and flaky, with whole pecans in it, it was a splendid little bite to punctuate my many meals of the day. It was a bit pricey, coming out to $8 and some change, but I DID order a fancy drink and gourmet baked good, so no surprises on that one. I haven't tried their normal coffee but I'm guessing I'll be back, since it's a lovely spot for a meeting; downtown but on a little side road, so it's central but not too loud. Also, I didn't try it but apparently the apple crumble is made with a shortcake base! You sure heckin' bet I'm getting that next time around! read more

Hands down best Green Tea Matcha Latté I've ever EVER tried. Insanely rich and delicious, enhanced only by the skilled baristas and not by any fake syrups or unnecessary add-ins. Cool, contemporary shop with the only downfall being the sparse seating around the perimeter. Customers were definitely eyeing for any available tables but as soon as you get one, you're golden! Expensive lattés ($4.75 for the matcha, most others ring in at $4.25), but for a great bevy and a good atmosphere, I'm happy to pay! Unfortunately no stevia available (only Splenda as a sugar alternative), but that's fine as it's always a big bonus anyways when local shops have their own stevia on hand). Very excited to come back here to try some of their other drinks out! read more

Located across from a public parking structure and a block from the Bay Centre, this sophisticated but casual neighborhood cafe serves up some strong espresso and tasty baked snacks. Free password protected wifi, small indoor and outdoor sitting areas, and reasonably-priced drinks relative to the quality. Their premium callebaut mocha was strong and enjoyable, as was their date bar. If there were more places like this, there would be no reason to visit franchised generic coffee shops. read more

Our first impression concerning customer service was pretty poor. Ordered a drink with sugar free caramel but the taste was horrible. Asked the two girls at the register if possible to get a different one with regular caramel, they both made me feel bad for asking. The asian Barista guy was very nice and re-made my drink. Your employees could learn some quality customer service skills from our people in Vancouver WA and Portland OR area, they are very accomadating and dont make you feel bad for changes. After all, we are the customers who pay your wages, without us you wouldn't get paid. read more

I had the premium mocha which uses real chocolate instead of syrup. It was excellent. It could have been a bit hotter but otherwise it was delicious. I'd highly recommend trying this place for coffee lovers. They also have wifi. read more

We enjoyed visiting this coffee shop as they have a little bit of everything. The food was very good, London fog latte was delicious and regular latte was great as well. We were a very happy and well fed family of four that was able to sit and have a quick bite before moving on to our next activity for the day. The staff was very nice too! Overpriced coffee is normal in Canada, so I'm completely used to that. But if you want great overpriced coffee, this is a great place to go. The people here are friendly, and they have a nice selection of coffee and pastries. This coffee shop wasn't on a busy street, but it was easy enough to find. Their vanilla lattes are amazing and creamy, just like they should be. The only thing I didn't like was the ambiance of this place was lacking. It felt more like a deli than a coffee shop, and the seating isn't super comfy, BUT their coffee is good. read more

There are plenty of cafes in Victoria, and this one is more on the modern side. Brews didn't seem as strong as Seattle, but we only got lattes and not real espresso (should've tried a macchiato, their namesake). Baristas were very friendly in pointing out some holiday flavors. They also have a decent selection of tea lattes, and very appealing sandwiches. Place is pretty small (like all cafes), fits about 15 people inside. I have heard many great things about this place so tried it for myself a few weeks ago. I found the staff unfriendly and condescending, and the food mediocre. I thought perhaps it was just a bad day, and I like to give the benefit of the doubt, so I tried them again. This time I was helped by the owner, so I assumed I would have a great experience. Wrong. I found him to be the most arrogant and pretentious little man I have come across in a long time. I have some food intolerances so was asking about the ingredients. He was clearly irritated with me and rushed me along. To add insult to injury, he assured me that the item I chose was not made with nuts and when I ate it, it clearly was. Luckily mine is just an intolerance, not an allergy, as this could have caused someone major harm. All in all I was extremely unimpressed and WILL NOT be returning. read more

I know that they definitely didn't mix up my order, they told me it was a latte, but it was so incredibly bitter that I returned the whole cup, even after the teaspoons of liquid sugar and cream. The sandwiches were mediocre at best. Definitely not worth my 20$. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. read more

It gets really busy (because local people love it), but the staff never take very long. Try the cortada condensata, bernard callebeau hot chocolate, silk road tea, americano or regular old coffee- all great. read more
