Today, the cafe charged me over twelve dollars for one plain bagel with butter and one Udi's gluten free bagel with butter. The staff acknowledged that the Udi's was "quite an upcharge", which is an understatement. A 5-pack of Udi's gf bagels in Shaws (a Maine supermarket) is about $7.50. For $12, I could have bought a pack of Udi's, a stick of butter, and at least one fresh bakery bagel from a grocery store or local baker... and not been asked to tip the counter staff 20%
