Came here after grabbing some donuts nearby in lookout for some coffee. Great rustic welcoming vibes and they aren't trying to be a fancy over the top spot. I will say we only grabbed coffee so cannot speak to the food. I would return to try it though. They appeared to have all the drinks you'd expect a coffee shop/cafe to have. The worker was friendly and greeted us right away. I asked if they had any seasonal drinks as I didn't see any specials/seasonal menu and he mentioned a pumpkin drink. Both my wife and I figured we would have that iced. It ended up being a fantastic drink, well made with tons of flavor. A very nice cafe. Nothing fancy about the place but it's a moody vibe! I love the concept of it. It also has a hidden bookstore which was extremely cool! I can't say much because I only got a cappuccino and it was a normal cup of coffee. I think the price of my coffee was $6 but will say I had it in a mug. I particularly loved watching the two artists quietly creating at separate tables. The Ambrosia is a signature item. Imagine, if you will, a brevet cappuccino topped with chocolate powder. This is pure heaven in a cup. A variety of breakfast burritos are available on plain, spinach, and tomato tortillas. Over the week we were in town, we ordered each one and found them all to have generous portions of scrambled eggs. My favorites were the Mexicali and the Reuben. Stopped in here to fuel before our trip down to the coast! This was a cute and roomy cafe with a variety of seating. They offered dine in and take out. If you dined in, they gave you a little number and brought out drinks and food. We did not have a long wait before getting helped, we did take a moment to look at the expansive menu that was on the wall. My partner and I both got a drink and breakfast wrap which came out to be about $32 before tip. Our drinks were brought out shortly after we sat down. The iced chai latte was on the sweeter side but very yummy. The iced matcha was also good but I asked for some vanilla flavoring, not sure if it was added since it didn't taste too sweet. However, I think they may have a table to add more flavoring and sugars to make it just right! Lastly, the wraps were AMAZING! We got the Mexacali and the Lee's special wraps. It's safe to say that they were devoured. I'll be dreaming of these wraps for a long time. If we find ourselves in Rockland again, we will most definitely be coming back! read more

We love this coffee shop, specially for breakfast. Menu is huge, coffee delicious. They brew about a 1/2 dozen coffees each day. Baked goods all look so good (and are) that it's hard to choose. My favorite breakfast is the cup of eggs with a pastry and coffee but the breakfast sandwiches are good too. Everything is made to order and brought to your table. All the workers, and I mean all, are friendly, helpful, patient and nice. Having eaten here dozens of times I was tempted to write this review because another cafe opened nearby. It seemed we should try it due to the good reviews. We walked in and right out again and drove back to our favorite Rock City Cafe. We visited Rockland for a couple of days in August. We loved the town. The Rock City Cafe is a terrific cafe/coffee shop. Great food, great coffee, great vibes. To be totally honest we stopped here super briefly to get a couple of large cold brews. And they were really good. Not watered down, not super bitter, just really solid iced coffees. Also the person behind the cash register was super thoughtful about adding a splash of oat milk to our drinks (no charge). A coop cafe on Main Street in Rockland. Dark roast coffee with beans roasted here was superb. A perfect accompaniment to the morning glory muffin that was very good! Rockland Cafe appears to celebrate diversity and I found hair that represented every color of the rainbow at this place. It is a collective which means the employees have ownership over some Big Co so I was happy to support it. Normally, I like big things to bite down on but the egg scramble which was perhaps the worlds largest English muffin and was a challenge even for me. The cheddar was nicely melted and the Cafe had decent coffee to wash it all down. Since I was in transit, I did not have a chance to experience other parts of the town, but the Cafe was a good stopping place and I loved the rainbow support. read more

You wait in line 6 feet apart and while you wait you can look at the menu. When it's time to order you place it, use a credit card (ideally) and then you go around to the side to pick up your order on a table when it's ready. The English muffin is like a cross between a biscuit and English muffin and I am a fan! The flat white was lovely as well. Last year we waited 20 minutes for an espresso drink here, which was OK when they finally got around to us. I gave this place the benefit of the doubt and 4 stars then. So this year, on a return visit to Rockland, we decided to try again. At 9:00 am the door, with its sign saying "open at 7:00), was locked! Inside there were just several people around one table. They never even looked up at us. Maybe a staff meeting, but there was no sign on the door explaining what was going on. So we went on up to Camden where we found an excellent coffee shop with management and staff who actually knew their business. I suggest that you jsut keep going past this place, too. read more

I visit Knox County almost every summer and I have since I was a kid. I get so happy coming here, and I don't think its just because I have a set of nostalgia goggles on. The interior is incredibly cute, cool and cozy simultaneously. The staff are friendly and lively, I've had nothing but positive experience with them. The bookstore is cute and the selection is clearly well taken care of! I'm not a huge reader admittedly, but people I know who are rave about their bookstore. Their coffee is incredible. Each blend has its own powerful flavor profile. My personal favorites are Darkstar and Fire On The Mountain. I enjoy their baked goods too. The cinnamon roll is very big, and offers the sticky sweetness every good sticky bun should offer. Their ambrosia drink is amazing. The honey and coffee flavor profiles compliment eachother better than I expected, and if you're into more unique takes on coffee, its worth a try. When I came over the summer of 2020, I was met with the same great food, drinks and service despite not being able to enter. The space is large, and they could probably have seated a few people inside if they wanted, but its possible legal reasons prevented that from being viable, and outside seating was available for those who wanted it, so it isn't a big concern either way, I still enjoyed my experience. I like this place and have had good burgers and fries in the past. Unfortunately I ordered haddock chowder, figuring they are close to the ocean, fresh fish etc. shouldn't have worried about that because what I got was potato soup. The broth was excellent but if there were 2 tablespoons of tiny pieces of fish, that would be a surprise. I was a quarter into it before I stopped looking for the fish. Breakfast at the Rock City Cafe was a surprising treat. My wife and I parked our car on Main Street in Rockland right in front of the Rock City Cafe. The funny thing was that we were looking for another place and we were intrigued by the sign on the front window that stated the cafe was 100% employee owned. We entered and checked the breakfast menu out. The choices were egg wraps with several unique selections to add. They also had a plethora of pastry items that all looked devine. My wife choice a Krengla which is Danish dessert with a delicate amount of almond. We both ordered different egg wraps. I would give this place 5 stars for atmosphere and books. They sell tons of used and new stuff from all genres. And all of the book shelves are sort of haphazardly placed around the store which gives it the feeling like your in a favorite eccentric uncles home library. Very cool vibe indeed. However, I'd give their coffee drink I had only 1 star. It was bad enough that we threw it away - an almost sacrilegious move for a caffeinator like me. Perhaps I chose a bad drink.
