Strongly disagree with posts on here! wow talk about disappointment. We were looking for a good coffee place and bookmarked this place. There is currently terrible construction in front of this business making access aweful. We finally make it in and encountered the slowest and most inefficient people EVER. The cashier didn't know how to punch items into their iPad; didn't know how to place orders, nor run the cash register; and also was not knowledgeable of basic drinks (ie. what a large americano was and how many espresso shots). The guy making the drinks was constantly helping; causing a crazy backlog; and also a lack of focus on the drinks/recipes. Took 20 mins for 2 SIMPLE coffee drinks and we left extremely unsatisfied. I saw the cashier reach into my iced drink and pull out ice WITH HER DIRTY HANDS THAT SHE WAS HANDLING MONEY!!! Ugh. Never again. She was trying to put a lid on my drink; what the... Do yourself a favor and find a Starbucks. This place is not worth your time or money. read more

Picked up a pound of Indian Malabar while in the midcoast this weekend. Clean space with on street parking. All of Rock Cities roasting is done here (their larger cafe with food, music and a bookstore is down the street). I want to double down on my previous review by saying that despite the departure of the charming owner Susanne Ward who signed the place over to her employees who now run it as a cooperative, the skill and service continue under the direction of Kevin and David assisted ably by Jared and Meredith. These are serious coffee people who can expertly deliver a broad range of caffeinated plasma to the desperate customer from early morning to late afternoon. The setting is friendly., Great WiFi. Dog and cat friendly, casual, not stuffy but friendly and easygoing and once they know how you like your drink they will deliver it as ordered. They run on a 7-day a week summer schedule which makes me profoundly happy and grateful; it is my first stop in the morning. read more

Pretty good coffee. Had a cup there and took home some fresh roasted ground coffee (they grind it for you). Not much going on here. A couple of baked goods and some coffee accessories are available but mostly it's the coffee itself that you would come here for. Pricing was fine. In line with similar places. While on a trip, I had some coffee made from Rock City beans, loved the flavor, and ordered some packages of beans when I got home. The beans were fine, but I was shorted .7 oz of beans on an 8 oz. bag. I wrote to them about the issue, but didn't receive a response, or even an acknowledgment that my communication had been received. I had been hoping to initiate a subscription, and was especially happy that the company is employee-owned, but quality/quantity control and customer service are at least as important as the quality of beans and roast, so, no thanks. read more

If I could I would do 4.5 because it's not the absolute best coffee I've had, but I was very impressed to find a local coffee roaster on the East coast with such a big selection of delicious coffee and expresso drinks. If you are a West coast coffee junkie that just happens to be in Rockland, go here. The baristas were very friendly and took their time on making my fancy drinks. My dad and I also came here for lunch which hit the spot. They have a latte with maple and bacon flavours which was surprisingly good. Chill place to hang out too. This is a local gem! read more

Whenever I am headed to Rockland, I deliberately do a coffee fast so that I'm primed and palate-ably ready for the best coffee experience in the area! I love coffee! So much so, that I roast my own beans and only French press my coffee, (the way that God intended). Rock City always has a wonderful selection of fresh roasts that even the pickiest coffee snob would approve of and secretly enjoy. They don't over-roast their beans, which is my personal pet peeve. They obviously know the nature of the bean that they are using and roast accordingly. I tend to prefer a full city roast which can be tricky, but I always find one there. Additionally, they allow a bit of personality to show through at the counter. It is cerebral, nerdy,(redundant?) and charming. Huge plus!!! They have honey! I hate artificial sweeteners and I love honey in my coffee. They've got it all. Pick up a Lb of the roast of your choosing while you're there. Enjoy! read more

What the heck? I'm not understanding how these people are qualified to be a coffee roastery.. they don't even know basic latte 101. So a 12 oz, 16 oz, and a 20 oz latte ALL come with just one shot. Your basically paying for milk. I don't know who in there right mind would want 20oz of milk with one espresso shot. How it goes at EVERY other coffee shop in America small 1 shot, med 2, large 3. Stupid I paid 8.50 for a regular latte. I don't know if they are being cheap or what but I still ended up with a 20oz sugary latte where you couldn't taste the espresso. Ya I'd say pass. read more
