I love local places and this one is perfect. Good coffee selections even though I don't drink coffee. My hubby got mocha and said it's really yummy. We each got bagel with scrambled eggs (onions, tomato and sausage for the hubs and just onions and tomato for me and nothing more than eggs for the kid). This is a very small coffee shop in Frederick. Not much to look at on the inside. I orders my usual latte but it was just not good. First, the barista used old coffee grinds from the grinder and didn't grind fresh. That is always a bad sign and I wish I could have cancelled my order at that point. I watched him froth the milk and he did not do a good job. There was basically no texture to it and was just hot milk. The end product was too hot and bitter. Undrinkable. Top notch breakfast in downtown Frederick, I chose the Greek omelet with home fries and toast. What I got was a very tasty omelet decently loaded with stuff and a good portion of diced and grilled potatoes. Very yummy and good service. Coffee was great too. I am a bagel snob and I admit it. I have enrolled in the ten step program to become fair and equitable to bagels everywhere, but it is a process. The hard crunchy exterior of a supreme bagel makes it crunchy and the perfect texture in your mouth! But, beware the inside needs to be soft and tasty. There has to be enough topping on the bagel to be rated supreme, no skimping on those poppy seeds or sesame toppings. This is just the tip of the iceberg on how I strictly judge my bagels. Bean and bagel passed my tests with flying colors. I tasted the cheddar cheese bagel, the pumpernickel bagel, and drum roll please, my favorite, the ET bagel. Crunchy exteriors, warm, soft, and dough filled interiors. Just summed up in one word" Scrumptious ". No time for spreads, we just popped open the bag and ate those delicious bagels all by themselves. I hope to buy some spreads next time. The coffee brews were as numerous as the stars in the sky. So, many to chose from. I settled on the New Orlean's style latte with chocolate and praline syrup. I thought I died and went to heaven. It was that good!! Like a chicken salad type of lox mix; changed my life. The scallion gave it so much flavor and it was inexpensive. My boyfriend wanted pancakes as a side and those things were discs! So fresh and fluffy! Potatoes were more like baked potatoe style not home fries but that's just me. We split the spam bagel and i inhaled mine. I was never aware this place was even in downtown. Let me set the tone - it was a Sunday. As always, most restaurants are extremely busy on Sunday around brunch time. Walking in to this place is a bit overwhelming - there is a big sign for drinks and a smaller sign on the side for the food. I ordered the iced chai latte with almond milk and my boyfriend ordered the orange creamsicle. For brunch, I ordered the veggie omelette with a sesame bagel and he ordered the egg salad sandwich. He liked the sandwich - he said it tasted fresh. My omelette was good, pretty basic, but I was impressed by the bagel - it was crunchy and soft at the same time. It was delicious! Very cute mom and pop shop. They seem to get pretty busy. We waited a little when it came to ordering. I ordered an iced caramel mocha latte and it did not disappoint. I drank it pretty quickly and tried to hold off until i got my bagel. I also ordered a French toast bagel with cream cheese and it was tasty! I would definitely go again. There were many people who ordered their sandwiches from what I saw and instantly regretted not getting one. I wish I didn't have to take a whole star off. Cute spot, absolutely terrible service and professionalism. I should've spoken to the manager, but I was tired of dealing, waiting, and it was clear the staff was overwhelmed and all over the place. A shame because traveling from out of town and walking into such an eclectic and artistic space is very exciting, but receiving attitudes from the staff and total disregard for customer care and service, just destroys the experience regardless of the interior design. We ordered several items from the menu. Some cooked, and some from the glass display. We waited about 20min and wondered why we at least didn't receive the fruit cup that is clearly sitting in the display. I walked up to the tall, male staff member who took my order and was looking at me like I was being annoying for asking about the estimated time we would get our order. I asked for the fruit and bagel which was for my father because he had to leave early. Thankfully, he gives me the fruit and bagel. A few min later we were served our plates but missing two items. When I asked the female server about the missing items she said, "I just got here so I don't know". I said "ok, that's fine can you please find out about the missing items?" she repeated again that she just arrived and was basically removing herself from the situation. I'm thinking to myself, that has nothing to do with us. YOU served the food so you're here working now right? She took no care in HELPING HER TEAM TO RESOLVE THE SITUATION. She Literally tossed her hands up. Great staff! (Sarcastic). She obviously could care less. So, I went to the counter myself and told her to forget about it, I will take care of it. As I approached the counter, I saw her telling the staff about our missing items. I saw a few confused looks and shrugging shoulders so I called over the shorter male staff member to handle it. This guy was so flustered and clueless on what to do, I literally had to spoon feed him instructions. I asked for him to first pull up the receipt that I was never given, so I could prove there were missing items from the order. He said, "we can make it for you but it will take a while now to make them". I said "we are not able to stay and wait again, so can we have a refund for the items?" He told me I'd have to speak to the manager. A long line was forming, and the staff seemed stressed so I said I would eat and then come back to the counter for the refund. This wasn't resolved. I let it go with knowing I'm not returning. **Not once did I hear an apology, reassurance of receiving a refund, an offer of something else that was quick and for the same cost, a small gift certificate, nothing. Just attitudes, confusion, and not taking responsibility for their mistake. A simple and sincere apology goes a long way and is so appreciated. If you go here, speak very slow, and repeat your order about 3 times. Absolutely ask for the receipt immediately to make sure the order is correct. They don't give you a receipt unless you ask for it which is strange. And get ready to wait 30min for anything. read more

Waited 10 minutes on line today before I asked him in a polite tone if someone was going to take our order soon (myself and the other 4 people waiting) he replied in a rather aggressive tone from his expresso machine "I'll be right there,I'll be right there". I've been making a habit of trying local coffee shops, and this was next on my list. The one pro was that my sandwich (a gyro) was excellent. I'd definitely become a regular morning patron just for the gyro if I worked in the area. But unfortunately, the rest of the experience was severely marred by some major flaws, listed below: - I was charged an extra 75 cents to add feta cheese to my gyro. Seriously, charging extra for a dish that pretty much demands this item? That's like charging extra for lettuce and tomatoes on a chicken club. - Drink orders for "here" apparently still come in paper to-go cups rather than actual mugs that you'd hope for at a sit down experience. - Wait staff was generally inattentive, and they never told me if I was to wait for my order or if they'd bring it outside to me. So I stood at the counter for a few minutes looking like a jackass before I hedged my bets and just sat outside. Fortunately they brought my sandwich to me. Like I said, my gyro tasted great and I'd stop by for that if I was in the area regularly, but I definitely wouldn't make this a regular place for a sit down experience. 2.5/5 read more

Service is fast and friendly but their hours are kinda limited. Probably not the best choice for broke college students. The Perfect Blend on Patrick Street is less expensive than Beans and Bagels, and Frederick Coffee on East Street has more higher end items for the same price range (or a little less!) than beans and bagels. read more
