I was happy to stumble across the very unassuming Food Cart Heaven near Glisan and 157th (yes... you're still in Portland!) If you're looking for the hipster foodie vibe with corn hole and fire pits you won't find it at Food Cart Heaven. Instead, guests are treated to a very diverse and... um, functional setting complete with a household appliance vendor and lingerie modeling booth. Don't worry, this place is family-friendly, but you may be asked, "mommy, what is lingerie?" There are a variety of carts offering a broad selection of international cuisine. I've sampled Woody's Tacos (Delicious!) and both of the Mexican carts. Try the Aguas Frescas for only $2... the cantaloupe carrot is my favorite! Parking isn't great, in fact the configuration is a little awkward. The lingerie modeling spots are only valid for 15 minutes, so don't park in one of those clearly labeled spots mistakenly. There are several side streets where you might find additional parking as well. I'm very excited to try more carts here, so I'll definitely be coming back.

We got ours at the now recently defunct Labrynth Forge Brewing but a few months ago. We purchased the Canadian Style Pilsner and were simply blown away on how much we liked it. I loved it and when it was all gone I longed for more. With this pilsner there is a great crisp, clean flavors as well as a naturally sweet flavor. Not sugary when I say sweet. This was such a wonderful pilsner I could easily have had more than one in a single sitting and I will look where else to buy their beer on my next trip to Portland. Hopefully (and probably will be) we will be as highly impressed with the other beers as we have with this pilsner!

Today I had cherry jubilee, lemon something and a third that I can't remember the name. But all I do know is they were all super good. The ladies that were behind the counter today were super friendly and helpful. As I said in the restaurant enjoying my ice cream, I got to hear them pantry back-and-forth and they seem to really enjoy working with each other. These guys also sell ice cream cakes and sandwiches. I read my Mobility Scooter pass their front door each time I go to Albertsons. I'll have to stop in more often as the temperatures in the next couple days are supposed to reach 100. I get my produce all your long here. I get my plants and flowers in the spring and summer. I get my Christmas trees here in the winter as well as Halloween hay corn stocks. They just keep me here all year long. I come at least twice a week on my Mobility Scooter since it's close to the house.

Unlike supermarket checkouts designed to push impulse purchases, Growers Outlet has surprises in every corner. They don't sell meat, but we usually end up with multiple items that were not on our shopping list. There are a couple of times a year, when we want strawberries for canning, or a tree for Christmasing, when no place else will do. I wouldn't be at all surprised if there are many other Portlanders that have their own times of year when they simply have to come here.
