I was excited to try out this Thai coffee shop and I really wanted to try all of the Thai menu items! I ended up with the Soft Thai Tea From their new soft cream series. When it first came out, it looked like it was just whipped cream, but once I tasted it, it was so much more. I liked how it added extra creaminess to the strong Thai tea. I was really happy with that drink, but my rating is a little bit lower because of the mango drink that we had. If you are a cold brew or americano fan, then the Mango Drip is probably the one for you, but it was just way too bitter for me and the artificial mango didn't really add much. I always love seeing mango drinks on a coffee menu, but unfortunately, this one just didn't work for me. The interior is really nicely decorated and feels very much like you walked into a café in Bangkok. Despite not liking one of the drinks, I'd still recommend checking this place out because there is such a great variety on the menu that you are bound to find the one for you. read more

This was one of the best matchas I've had. When I order matcha I order it without flavorings/syrups. This one did have a little sweetness from the coconut water but regardless the matcha was stellar. Tldr interior is cute, service is kind, and hours are great especially for a coffee or matcha early on the weekends! Kaleido coffee had been on my list for LITERAL weeks before I had a chance to swing by before work on a Saturday morning. I will say I was the first human through the door at 7:05 am and it looked like some of the setup was still happening, but nothing to fret about. The timing also worked out amazingly well in terms of the street parking cause I was able to get a spot immediately out front. Drinkwise, I got 3 of the es-yen and 1 of the matcha mango latte. Can confirm the es-yen was great! Actually not too sweet with a great coffee flavor. My colleague mentioned that the match mango latte was good as well! I definitely need to keep my eyes peeled for their seasonal specials because drats I just missed their sesame matcha! Prices are fair for the quality and like I said, 7 am open on weekends? So convenient before work. All in all, a good experience and tasty treats. The es-yen and matcha mango were both delicious. The coconut drip was just alright and the pieces of coconut were too big to go through the straw so that was a disappointing. The mango purer was a bit thicker than what I like, but flavor was delicious. The Es-yen was good hot or iced, you can really taste the sweet, creamy condensed milk in this. I appreciated that the menu was clean and organized. The matcha was a bit too light and subtle, the taro did add a nice texture throughout the drink; however, the overall taste profile felt a bit too sweet for me. After we got our coffees, and we were walking out , I said to my wife, this is my favorite coffee shop in PDX (the interior layout design, style, vibe and open feeling). You will see in the pic's, how open it is. This compared to others is such a difference. I guess this might be a perfect summer spot, with a nice cool breeze. Winter might be a different story. I will have to test it out. This is like those very nice modern homes with the outside brought inside, where the walls slide and the whole rooms is open to the fresh air. Ok, about the coffee. I got a ES-YEN, with oatmilk and still the sweetened condensed. It's a nice option, you can even do it full vegan. The barista said she does it the way I ordered and it's very good. She was right. It was different than I have had for Thai coffee but in a good way. Usually, even though it's so delicious, it is was too strong and really hurts my stomach, and can also be way too sweet. This was not like that. My stomach was just fine, and the sweetness was much more subtle but delicious. When I finished, I wanted more. My wife got a soda, lime and passion fruit I think. I got a taste, it was really good. Refreshing and tart. She also finished much too soon. I think the take away from this is order 4 drinks, so you can enjoy it for longer. The employees were very nice, explaining the drinks and the differences. I got to take a few pic's of drinks made for others. We will be back. I really want to check the vibe out again, and make sure everyone is enjoying themselves including the employees. read more

I was bummed when Queue closed, so I was excited to see Kaleido move into the space! The shop got a makeover with bright, vibrant colors and the same airy, breezy feel, making it an inviting spot to hang out and read or catch up with friends. I had a craving for a giant, half-caf coffee (I mostly drink decaf these days) and wanted to treat myself, so I was perplexed to learn that the largest size they offer is 12oz for hot drinks and 16oz for iced drinks. A strange limitation, but that's their choice, I suppose. Bummed, I pivoted to my backup option, a matcha latte. The biggest one I could get (hot) was only 12oz... and it was $7. I didn't even add any flavoring or alternative milks. Just matcha powder and plain milk was $7 for a 12oz drink. That's some new Portland prices! Granted, the matcha was good - I asked them to make it heavy on the matcha and they did; they even asked me whether I wanted it sweetened or unsweetened, which was very thoughtful. It was a strong and tasty drink. I wish these folks well and hope they succeed in their new spot, but it's unlikely that I'll be back given the drink size limitations and prices. read more
