Pulled our boat right up to the dock.

We stopped by Bear Creek marina on a weekend camping trip to Lake James State Park. The staff was friendly and inviting the food was delicious. We had the buffalo chicken pizza which I highly recommend. Our server Alexis did an awesome job and checked in on us regularly. At one point the manager came over with a smile to make sure everything was great - and it was. We were able to pull our boat up to the dock behind the restaurant, and there was plenty of space. Even though there was a decent crowd we did not have to wait to get a table, and our food came right out. I think a lot of reviews on this restaurant are old because there were servers buzzing around all over and smiles on faces everywhere. I highly recommend stopping by Bear Creek Marina and Restaurant if you are in the local area , it was a five-star experience.

Really wanted to give ten 5 Stars. First, the entertainment (Red Dirt Revelators) were outstanding! The server, Autumn was also awesome. My chief complaints are the food was not the best and the service was slow until Autumn came over. My first impression is that they did not have enough servers for the people watching the band. Overall, not a bad experience.

A beautiful night at the Bear Creek Marina

We recently popped in yesterday after securing a reservation via Resy to celebrate our anniversary. We were seated at our table with a thoughtful handwritten card thanking us for celebrating with them! Our waitress was fantastic, and they even provided us with complimentary bubbly half pours to commemorate the milestone. Between the two of us, we split the cheeseboard, Brussels sprouts (which are so unique, and one of our favs!), and the poutine. The cheeseboard really is a nice way to kick off the meal, and highly recommend it--so many goodies to choose from. I love how Resy also allows you to specify where in the restaurant you'd like to sit depending on availability--we went with the high top nook spot, which is really special/cozy for two people. Parking is a breeze--even if their lot is full, the post office lot/tyson lot is just a short walk (and it's still not paid parking anywhere downtown).

My daughter used to manage a German Restaurant, the owners being German immigrants, so she's pretty discerning when it comes to German food - let me tell you, she was absolutely blown away! She said hands down, all 3 items were the very best she's ever had. I opted for the Rueben, which, I was equally impressed with - the corned beef was tender, hardly any fat, and the dressing was to die for. Desert was equally as delicious, their Cheese cakes are nothing less than phenomenal - and lets just say their pasta salad and pimento cheese found its way home with us to enjoy with dinner that evening - amazing! I'd give them 100 starts if I could, a must stop if you're nearby - or worth driving if you're not. Can't wait until next year to come back!

We chose to split the Reuben since we have early dinner reservations and each got a side. Even at 1/2 the sandwich and side it was very filling. The sandwich was hot and delicious. The pasta salad was also very good. The desserts today was Banana Cake and Hawaiian Cake. I got a slice to go. Go for the good food and warm hospitality!

I found Chestnut on Yelp and decided to wander in. The space has this elevated modern rustic vibe with a southern twist and a little bit of sass. They even sell shirts that say neither hoity nor toity, which cracked me up. Honestly, the atmosphere was great, but our waitress was the real star. She was absolutely phenomenal and looked after us perfectly. My palate was pretty fried, so I started with a Bloody Mary to wake up. Truth be told, it was just okay. The house mix had an odd flavor that nobody at the table could quite identify, and it seriously lacked spice. It was just kinda bland. I noticed a bottle of Firewalker hot sauce on the table, and splashing that in helped a little bit. After that, I transitioned to a mimosa. You really cannot mess up a mimosa too much, and it was a solid, reliable second drink. For the main event, I ordered the southern chicken and waffles. This came with a fried chicken breast sitting on golden malted waffles, smothered in sausage gravy, and drizzled with chipotle honey. It was a really great dish. The kitchen did a solid job with the fry on the chicken, and the gravy had a nice flavor. It leaned a little on the sweet side because of the honey, but it was not totally overdone. The real sleeper hit of the morning, though, was the side of cheesy grits. Those grits were absolute heaven. They were incredibly creamy and perfectly seasoned. If you go, you have to order them. Chestnut is in a great location, and despite the weak Bloody Mary, it was a stellar visit.

This restaurant was a mile away and we decided to stop there first. It's a bit of a drive from the N Rigby entrance to the the cookhouse but a beautiful ride with green fields and a stunning view of Mt. Pisgah. We were greeted by a hostess who brought us to the porch in the rear. The first thing I noticed was the sound of many voices to both sides. It was more obvious upon entering that there were multiple groups seated at both sides along community tables. We were seated in the middle of the table to the right and chose to sit across from each other. Our server, Kara, was pleasant and helpful. We ordered from the brunch menu we were given by the hostess. I ordered the scrambled egg bowl and enjoyed the best tasting egg flavor I've had in a long time. The greens, pickled onions, feta cheese and other vegetables complimented the dish perfectly. My partner wasn't sure about ground lamb ( since there are several renditions of it) but took a chance with the lamb burger and was glad she did. The fries that came with it we shared; they were crispy as we like them. She ordered a virgin bloody Mary and enjoyed it. That said the Worcestershire sauce flavor was quite pronounced and it might not be to everyone's liking. We have had several lunches and brunches over the last several days and this was the least $. I think we adjusted to the sound level after a few minutes and did strike up a conversation with some folks who came in after we did and sat nearby.
