    Oatmeal Cookie cheesecake
    Sandra B.

I decided to have lunch out on my own today. It is a flex day so I wanted to try something new. I found Bruce's Fabulous Food on the map, looked up the menu and drove down. Since I was alone I sat at the bar. I can't say I enjoyed that decision. You get to watch them make the food but after a few minutes I felt like I was spending too much time watching. Also you have your back to the dinning area, which I don't love, and the servers come from behind you. The servers look like they work as a team, which is great. I spent time with the menu and decided on the Philly hoagie with no mushrooms (don't judge me, I just don't like them) and some tangy baked beans. The selection comes with a dessert or you can upgrade your dessert to one of their famous cheesecakes. I had no idea they were famous for cheesecake. The lady told me to look up Halloween Hangover Cheesecake on YouTube. Sure enough there is Bruce on a food contest show! The food was great. The bun of the hoagie was nice and soft. The meat of the sandwich was cooked well and not too greasy, so the sandwich held its shape and the bread did not get soppy (which I hate). The tangy beans had some kick to them. I did wish I could have gotten two smaller portioned sides so I could balance the beans. It was a good size portion, I only ate half. Had to save room for dessert. I did feel like I waited a long time for someone to notice I was done and ask me about dessert, but that is probably just me feeling self conscious. They were very nice. She explained the dessert, a cookie comes with the meal and she presented me with the day's cheesecake flavors and dessert of the day was banana cake. I upgraded to the oatmeal cookie cheesecake. It was good! It was a small piece compared to what you would get at a chain restaurant, I thought it was the perfect size for one. I had just been saying the other day that I wanted to find a place where the desserts were not sharing size and I found it! I will be going back. I would like to sit at a table next. Maybe bring a friend. Try the hummus of the day and I did see some vegetarian friendly options. Maybe another cheesecake!

Stopped through on way through town. I had the Monty Brucesto which was incredible. They have a dozen sides. A few free deserts and a dozen types of cheesecake.

The Greek chicken salad was fresh and tasty. All entrees comes with a dessert. They only had one cheesecake option due to the cream cheese shortage but they had tons of cake flavors. I wasn't sure what to get, so the owner (?) recommended the Cinnamon Oatmeal Cake. She definitely did not steer me wrong. It was fabulous indeed.

Hummus of the day! Three-in-one, cilantro lime, roasted beet, and lemon pepper, INCREDIBLY good, best ever hummus.

The amazing Bruce's, complexly and subtly fabulous, as the name states. We try to coordinate our trips to, or through Marion, so we an lunch @ Bruce's. The specials are original and so creative! Today's specials include Hamaiian Melt and a Porkapalioza quiche (see photo). 166+ cheesecakes, usually 2 or three to try, plus cake or cookies. They also have their own special blend of coffee, from the ingenious coffee roaster, a block away. There's a great story behind that.

Sweet potato walnut cheesecake!!! Literally the best cheesecake I have ever had.

The atmosphere is cozy, low-lit, and perfect for date night, a celebration, or honestly just when you want a really good meal with phenomenal service. It's not huge, and judging by how packed it was when we arrived, I'd definitely recommend reservations. We had one of the later seating times near closing, but the place was still buzzing. There's even a second room with a gorgeous long bar that gives off upscale neighborhood hangout vibes. Service was flawless from the start. We were seated immediately and had water in our glasses within minutes. Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and somehow had us in and out in about 40 minutes without ever making us feel rushed. That's an art form. Drink-wise, my boyfriend was happy to find some local beers after our brewery-hopping adventure earlier in the day. I ordered a cocktail that sounded good and asked if they could make it spicy... maybe throw in some jalapeños or something. They didn't just accommodate, they elevated. They swapped in a spicy-infused spirit, and it paired perfectly with my wood-fired roasted corn pizza topped with cilantro and jalapeño crema. Absolute flavor bomb that paired perfectly! My boyfriend's meatloaf with mushrooms and mashed potatoes was equally impressive. No notes, just clean plates. We started with the ceviche, and it was outstanding. Fresh, bright, and so flavorful that we started dipping our homemade pita into it. Speaking of the pita, that was honestly my only minor miss (and it wasn't even a miss lol). As a carb enthusiast, I wanted a little more salt and flavor, but that's nitpicking in what was otherwise an exceptional meal. Hearth & Herron is the kind of place every small town wishes it had. Thoughtful food, top-notch service, and an atmosphere that punches way above its weight class. We'll absolutely be back the next time we're in Hendersonville and recommend you do the same!

It is simply decorated on the inside and outside of the space. They have an upstairs and downstairs outdoor seating area. They also have indoor seating upstairs and downstairs. It looked like they have a little grab and go bakery / coffee spot inside. Service: The service was great. All the people we met were so friendly and helpful. The place was very clean and well maintained. Food: We were blown away by the food. I was amazed by what we ordered. My husband had their 'Monte Cristo' sandwich and LOVED it. He said it was the best sandwich he's ever had. I had their 'Catfish & Grits' which were delicious. It was packed with so much flavor. I loved the pickled onions that came on top of the dish. The catfish and grits dish hit all the tasting notes. It was sweet, savory, and a little sour with the pickled onions. I LOVED it. We will definitely be back during our trip in North Carolina. We recently popped in yesterday after securing a reservation via Resy to celebrate our anniversary. We were seated at our table with a thoughtful handwritten card thanking us for celebrating with them! Our waitress was fantastic, and they even provided us with complimentary bubbly half pours to commemorate the milestone. Between the two of us, we split the cheeseboard, Brussels sprouts (which are so unique, and one of our favs!), and the poutine. The cheeseboard really is a nice way to kick off the meal, and highly recommend it--so many goodies to choose from. I love how Resy also allows you to specify where in the restaurant you'd like to sit depending on availability--we went with the high top nook spot, which is really special/cozy for two people. Parking is a breeze--even if their lot is full, the post office lot/tyson lot is just a short walk (and it's still not paid parking anywhere downtown).
