We went out to Marble Falls to Bear King. I'd had previously picked up their beer at HEB and it was excellent so it was no surprise that the beer at the brewery was also excellent . The only issue is that I knew I would have to drive TX71 back to Lakeway so I stopped at one. The Black Rye IPA. It was exceptional. The food was very good too. I had the Brisket One burger. The fries were crispy and hot, loved them. My wife had the Little Jumbo shrimp tacos. She loved every bite. Finally, we had read that people had problems with the ordering system. First of all, I love love love Marble Falls. Hadn't been in about 5 years but after this trip I see it's only gotten more amazing, beautiful and fun! My boyfriend and I are both commercial brewers in Corpus so we make it a point to visit the local breweries where ever we find them. Marble Falls appeared to have three at the time of our visit. We visited Bear King Brewing and were NOT disappointed. We were greeted by friendly staff. Everything was clean and the staff all wore gloves and masks. Their patio was large and the perfect place on a sunny winter day. Their beer selection was also filled with variety and very tasty. As far as taste profiles go all the beers we tasted hit their description mark. The porters were smoky and malty, the IPAs were hoppy, and the fruited beers definitely tasted fruity haha. Nothing sour, off, or cringe worthy being poured. We left with two growlers filled (which they let us fill our personal growlers after sanitizing them- very appreciated considering some breweries are not and I think that's a money thing as Sani Star has already said their sanitizer is effective against COVID 19, but hey don't take my word for it...) We will definitely be happy to visit Bear King again next time we are in Marble Falls. Looks like it's a place that the whole family, including the doggos, can enjoy. And would love to extend the hospitality should any of them like to come to Corpus and visit Lazy Beach Brewing. read more

The food is always good here but the hospitality and service have definitely suffered since we were here last time. Of course everyone blames Covid-19 but we've been to restaurants all over the place and this place seems to have gone a little overboard. They're so concerned with social distancing that their manners went to the wayside. The flies around the outside seating area provable carry more germs than anything else but they're not too concerned with that. You should bring a fly swatter rather than a mask here. One last thing, I'm glad they feel entitled to a 20% gratuity that's automatically added to the bill even though they haven't earned it. Gratuity is something that the consumer adds accordingly. Neither the owner nor the server should take it upon themselves to add this. Definitely won't be coming back to this place until this COVID crap is over. We'll maybe give it a try then. read more

We had a birthday party for my husband at Bear King with 15 people, and it was so much fun! The atmosphere, service, food, and beer was all perfect! I contacted Chris through the website to see about reserving a table, and he was very helpful and got us the perfect spot! Our server was quick, friendly, and made our experience great. At one point several servers were helping to make sure we got our food and drinks quickly. They made it easy for us to buy a round for all our guests and still split the check for our food. Really nice upscale sports bar & restaurant with a big outdoor patio/picnic tables. The food is delicious! I think the tortilla chips served with the spinach dip are the best chips I've ever had! Giving this place five stars for the friendly, fast service and their social distancing/COVID practices. There's minimal contact with anyone outside of your party since you order and pay online, the staff were all wearing masks, and we watched them clean a few tables around us and they're thoroughly cleaning the tables and all of the chairs. My husband and I have been here many times and the food was always great but not today! My Hamburger "The Legendary One" was over cooked and tasteless. Very disappointing! And the truffle fries were always excellent but again not today. Not at all the same truffle salt used in the past. It was not good and had a weird taste. They cleaned quite frequently and the tables were spaced well enough that I didn't have a panic attack my second time in a restaurant in six months. The food looked so good and the only way I held off on not ordering was knowing pie sat 50 feet away from me at BlueBonnet Cafe. The growler was legit and I would use it for a water bottle for sure. Bear King is proof positive that Marble Falls is coming up in the world. If you were magically transported inside Bear King, you'd be forgiven for thinking you were in the hippest new brewery in Austin. The interior is big, airy, industrial chic. Anywhere you care to look, there are at least two large flat screens. The admittedly cool logo is everywhere, burned into the glossy finish of picnic tables, on growlers and stickers. The marketing team must have spent a fortune, and it was worth every penny. Speaking of the growlers, they're rad. If I had a critique, it's this: If you're charging $60 for a growler, at the very least give us a discount on beer the first time we fill it up. Hell, maybe the first 10 times we fill it up. The truffle fries are sublime. Earthy and crispy, so good we devoured these immediately after having a proper lunch across the street. Worth it. Oddly enough, the beer is the least impressive part of the experience. Don't get me wrong, it's above average, but comparatively, it's a little underwhelming if I'm honest. 7 of the 10 taps are some form of ale or IPA, so if you don't care for those two styles, you're short on options. The "Empty Promise" raspberry ale was the best of the bunch, followed by the -almost-an-electric-jellyfish "Swiggy." If there's an upside, there were quite a few empty spaces on that beer billboard, so here's to hoping for a more diverse selection. Bear King is incredibly dog friendly, and on a beautiful, 75 degree March day, it's sublime. read more

After checking out Sweet Berry we took to Yelp to find a place to lunch. Our first choice was closed and we felt like we'd be ok to give this place a try. Upon arrival around 230 PM there were tons of empty tables. We figured we had missed the lunch rush but apparently we were wrong. We immediately placed our order and having frequented many breweries across the state and country we knew there would be a bit of a wait. After about 20 minutes we got 1 appetizer and 1 meal (burger) for someone in our party. The food runner assured us the remaining appetizer and 3/4 of our meals (also burgers) would be out shortly. Time went by and at 20 minutes since the first food came out we stopped a food runner to check to see how much longer the remainder of our food would be. She said,"Our kitchen is backed up and it'll be out soon." 10 more minutes goes by and we stopped another food runner to see if they could check for us. Again nothing. Finally a 3rd food runner see's that we've been sitting there awhile (mind you were watching people who ordered after us get their food) and comes to ask if we're still waiting on food. We said yes and while we weren't upset there was a wait we were upset 1/4 of our party got their food 40 minutes ago. She went and checked and 5 minutes later the remainder of our food came out. One item was requested without onion yet their were onions right on top. The food runner had offered to take it back and fix it but after waiting 1.5 hrs and 40 minutes after the first person in our party received their food we told her not to worry about it we'd just pick them off. I'm not sure what was going on in the kitchen but I'm not sure how the cooks/chefs can make 1 burger and yet it the other 3 at once. As far as the food it was mediocre at best. We had 4 different burgers and they were ok. We also had the Tx poutine and Buffalo wings. I'd save your money on those. The gravy on the poutine was the best part but fries were soggy due to super wet brisket and pico on top. Wings again were ok. I believe they're smoked but the skin was not crispy at all. Can't comment on the beers as we didn't order any. Maybe that's their money maker and the food is an after thought. read more

Had dinner here on our way to Burnet. The beer was good and we liked be patio area. My husband liked his burger and fries, however my southwest style El Oso salad was marginal. It was mostly lettuce and some chicken but not much else as the menu described it. The dressing wasn't a dressing but more like a dipping sauce. It didn't pour out of the container at all. Visiting the area and I try to visit breweries all over the country. That being said I rate breweries on beer, have to say they had some really good varieties. IPAs in this area of Texas we're top notch to my surprise. Overall pretty happy with Texas microbrews. It takes quite a lot for me to give 5 stars to anything, so for me 4 is top 90%.
