Tried an IPA beer and hamburger on Thursday. Beer was delicious and the hamburger was literally the best I have ever had. It had me wondering what kind of meat they were using. Was so good I went back again on Friday and again had the burger and IPA. The IPA was still delicious but the Burger just tasted OK. Not that it was bad just whoever had made the burger from Thursday must not of been there again. I would definitely recommend. If you go you will need to know that you ordered your food at the bar and sit wherever you want to eat it. read more

If you're visiting Marble Falls add this to your MUST DO list! THE TEXAS POUTINE IS UNBELIEVABLE! My girlfriend and I made our first trip to Marble falls this past weekend and are very happy to say we stopped into Bear King. The Swiggy and the blood orange Swiggy were so good! We can't wait to come back to marble falls and visit for more! Hopefully they keep the Blood Orange variation on the menu cause it was excellent! read more

Saw your review in a AAA magazine and decided to give you a try. We sat outside because we had our dog with us. Patio is very spacious and was cool enough with the fans going. The water and cups is a nice touch so you don't have to wait on someone bringing you some. They did bring us out a bowl of water for the dog, which was very nice. We tried several different beers and enjoyed them all. I like that you offer a 10oz size because it's enough to give you a taste without filling up. For food, I had the shrimp tacos and hubby had the burger, both of which were very good and came out in a timely manner. I am going to have to delete a star because, like some others, I don't like the ordering system. I would prefer to order at a counter instead of using an app or website. Overall, good experience, good food and good beer so we'll see you next time. read more

I tried the Beyond Burger here for the first time and I was definitely not disappointed! It tasted like regular beef and it was tender and delicious. We came here for my cousin's birthday since it was a close drive from Horseshoe Bay Resort where we were staying. The ambiance and decor were really nice, the beer was solid, and the food was good. I would give it one more star if I had been wowed by the poutine fries, but honestly, they were just okay. They should stick to traditional poutine instead of changing up the gravy to that crazy cheese sauce. Lol read more

If this review was solely based on the food, they'd get 5 stars. The food was great, burgers were delicious, my kids loved the fries, and the brisket was pretty good. HOWEVER...their current ordering process is not easy and kind of confusing. You have to go to their website to order even while dining in. The website was different for the people in my group - weird, right?! The best example is my daughter wanted Dr. Pepper - I didn't see it, but she could. Anyways, you have to order online while dining in, the website is ok, but I would have to select meals 2-3 times before it was actually loaded into my cart, which was annoying after I discovered that when I went to check out and only 3 drinks and one entree for a party of 5 was in the cart. Then, the drinks are expensive. I know some organizations elected to serve canned drinks in lieu of fountain drinks, but $1.75 for a 12oz can of soda is ridiculous. Other restaurants I've been to decreased the price of soda if they offered cans over unlimited fountain drinks. No option to order just a water. The wait staff was nowhere to be found when we had questions and need to order just water...which in 8oz bottles. To sum it all up, the food was great, but the current policies and processes bring this rating down. read more

My family and I stopped in early on a Saturday evening. Beer menu had several good options, and I tried their porter--so good! Cindy was our server, and she took great care of us. My wife has some food sensitivities, and Cindy helped her find several viable options. Three of us ordered burgers and one ordered the chicken strips. Very generous portions of the main dish AND the fries! My kids said, "Dad, you definitely have to give this place 5 stars!"We will definitely be back again when we're in town. read more

I always make it a point to stop by here as my halfway point pitstop when driving to San Antonio. It's my go-to spot to surprise roadtrip co-pilots with amazing food and drafts, and for the first time this week I decided to make Bear King the *only* destination. It was absolutely not a mistake. With cancelled weekend plans and additional time to kill I made the two hour trek out to Bear King to have what I knew would be an awesome time even if I was going solo. Although it was a busier hour the service was fast and my server was legitimately one of the nicest and most attentive I've ever had. As far as the food goes you absolutely cannot skip out on the parmesan fries with truffle aioli, the burgers that taste unique and thoughtful, or the brisket nachos. The conversations with the people who work here were so genuine that my trip didn't feel like a solo trip anymore. I'll definitely be making more of these just-for-Bear King visits in the future! read more

The burger and fries and the ranch tasted good, but I still can't get the bad taste out of my mouth. Gourmet burgers, fries, and tacos served in a rush, ordered online, at your table. Once seated, you can either get back up and stand in line at the bar to order, or use your phone to order. We opted to use the phone. Having gotten to the end of this cumbersome and tedious process, we discovered that adding jalapeños to my "legendary" burger was not an option, so my wife hopped up to find a solution. That's when she met Kevin for the first time. He was hurrying to run orders, but paused long enough to answer a question, much to his dismay. Apparently, you're supposed to know to add that in the comments section at the end. He gruffly said he would tell the kitchen to put jalapeños on ALL the burgers. Once my wife straightened all that out, she figured we would be okay. About five minutes later, the drinks showed up. Mind you, they serve it in cans and bottles. The lady who brought them estimated it would take another 20 minutes for us to receive our food. Kevin finally showed up with the food, except the jalapeños. It was then I realized that a little ranch would be good on my fries. Kevin hastily explained as he was briskly walking away that I would have to go to the bar and order ranch, it's 50 cents, you can use your credit card. I said, "Wait a minute." "You really want me to get up and go order at the bar when our food has just arrived?" He said it's homemade, so it's not free. I told him I don't care if it costs $100. I don't want to have to get up from my meal to go order it. I asked to speak to the manager. Kevin said he's the GM, and walked away in a huff. He rushed back with a 1-oz container of ranch and the jalapeños, and sarcastically told me to enjoy my meal. One bite in, my 12-year-old son discovered that his burger was undercooked. It was raw. I hopped up to show the problem to Kevin. One of his staff apologized and said they would take it off the ticket. You're probably thinking they must have been slammed. Actually, it was a very light lunch crowd on a sunny Sunday after 1pm. The whole point is this, Kevin. You seem to think you're in the food business. You're not. You're in the people business. The food was good (the stuff that wasn't raw, anyway), but the whole ordering process is cold and unfriendly. To make things worse, you put 50 cents ahead of a good customer experience. I imagine you were put out, because this situation comes up quite frequently. Customers who just want a little ranch, surprised that you're asking them to get up and go buy some at the bar, probably object and/or question you about your process all shift long. I was explaining this to the nice guy at the front counter when you came up and asked HIM if there was a problem. There is a problem, Kevin, and the problem is you! That's why I asked if you had a problem with me. Don't worry. You won't have to bother with a question from me or my wife ever again. P.S. A 20% gratuity is automatically added way back when you've just finished punching in your order. It's adjustable, but nonetheless it's nonsense. There is no service involved in their process, whatsoever. Now this burger is sitting in my stomach like a rock. How I wish we would have never set eyes on this place. read more

Bear King is a great addition to the Hill Country! As any new business, there are kinks to work through. The tacos are good, beer cheese is excellent... I am still working my way through the menu. The atmosphere is spot on with the outdoor seating and games. I would love to see a half pour option (on the pints) and/or a purchase option for the tasting size -- just for those moments when you want more to drink but a full beer is too much. The menu was unclear so FYI, burgers come with fries! Sodas should automatically be served with a glass of ice. read more

Wouldn't recommend this place at all!! Staff was not friendly at all. Was honestly shocked at this place. I have never experienced this ever. Went to walk inside to tell them that I forgot to put a modification on the menu and the server backed away from me and acted like I was an animal. Wouldn't let me talk and just kept walking backwards away from me. I even had my mask on. Then I asked for a cup of ice for my baby and the server replied "sorry can't do that" and kept walking and didn't say anything else. Will never ever come here again. Don't know where to start. Yesterday was my birthday and up to this point it had been a great day with my family. My wife and I wanted a late night dinner and a couple of drinks. We had been excited to try Bear king and it wouldn't have been hard to meet my expectations, as I had already had a few and was feeling awesome. We walked in the door around 8:15 Tuesday night. First it was a confusing and uncomfortable couple of minutes of employees staring at us because the process isn't clear... at all. Is someone going to seat us? Are we supposed to just sit? Will someone wait on us? What the hell is going on here? There's five employees just watching us stand there confused on what to do. Finally someone asked, " Have you been here before ?" The answer to this question was pretty obvious.... so she explained their process, or lack there of... "place food orders here, drink orders there, and just sit anywhere." Great. Okay, got it. So we ordered. First, after a short wait our Fudruckers style buzzer went off. I went to the front and our beer cheese appetizer was ready. I was told to keep my buzzer as our food would be ready soon. Btw there were multiple employees there bullshitting together... I mean they were literally doing nothing, and the restaurant was close to empty. Could you maybe walk my overpriced queso over ? Or at least pretend you are happy I am there... Some employee went above and beyond and actually walked our meals to us when it was ready. At this point we realized we didn't order a drink for my wife, there wasn't water offered at the tables. So, I went and asked for a tea, to be told it's bottled tea. YOU BREW BEER, and are attempting to be a restaurant too. You can't brew tea? So, knowing my wife doesn't want crap bottled tea I asked for a dr.pepper. You guessed it, the lady went and grabbed me a can. No glass, just a can of soda. My wife got the nachos, and I had a burger topped with brisket. I also had their IPA. The beer was great. My wife asked for no cilantro or tomatoes on her nachos, and it seemed someone took extra time to add copious amounts of both. My wife picked thru it, as she hates cilantro ( I know, it's weird...), and is also disturbingly prejudice against tomatoes. She didn't like the green sauce on the nachos as the flavor of it overpowered the entire dish. So, she picked through the pile of soggy flavors. My burger was good. Over cooked to the point of almost burnt, but a step above edible. The frys were excellent. It was not a 13.00 burger, but had the rest of the experience not sucked I wouldn't have been bothered by its subpar-ness. As I said I was feeling good and didn't need much to be satisfied. Guys... you haven't a process. It's not clear to your customer what to do. Your employees were obviously completely focused at going home as soon as possible, as they were more concerned with spot mopping and stocking then checking on customers satisfaction. It's a cool venue and I walked in wanting to like it because of such limited options in Marble Falls... but the fact is a taco truck with canned beer and good service would have been a superior experience. Finally, a employee came over to our table and asked if everything was "okay"? I responded, " yes, it was OK." This secret code I used seemingly went directly over her head. Either that or she didn't care. I believe it to be the latter, as it felt she was just attempting to judge when we were going to get out of their way so they can do more closing prep. Once again, unsure of the process, I went to try and figure out how to pay. I found a bartender practically laying on the bar, and I asked if I settle up here? She asked my name and ran my card they had taken ransom earlier. I went thru the prompts of the payment process when it asked for gratuity... "For what?! ", I wondered. Now, I am a fat tipper. Always have been, even with marginal service. I understand there are lots of assholes and I always try to take care of servers... but I didn't have a server! I had to go get most of our order, including anytime I wanted another beer. No one checked on us, no water, okayish food, no thanks when leaving, uncomfortable lack of process, and beer brewers who can't brew Lipton tea.... still Because I am soft, I put down a small tip and we left. Sadly, because of limited options we will probably, eventually try it again, but with far less optimism. Then again, Jonestown isn't to far of a drive and the dive bar, Rounders Pizza kicks the hell out of you. Sorry guys. This is my honest opinion. I hope you take it well. read more

Gotta say, after raving about the brunch, I have to add that the fried chicken sandwich is perfect. The wife and I agree it hit the spot. I've been trying different chicken sandwiches in other restaurants recently, and this one ranks way up there. Perfectly cooked with cheddar cheese and, our preference, the gluten-free bun makes it a winner. Even though the burgers are great, we may just lean towards the chicken for a while :-) Gotta try the tacos next, as our helpful waiter was going on about them. read more

Giving this review after visiting both Double Horn and Bear King, which are across the street from each other. Bear King wins and it's not even close. Service from Double Horn is fine. Service at Bear King is exceptional. Craft beer here is very good with a nice variety of choices and food we had was very good. I had the Greenhouse burger (no bun) and truffle fries. The truffle fries are amazing - crisp with just the right amount of truffle and parmesean - plus a beautiful presentation. My husband had the Texas poutine. The gravy on that is phenomenal. He, also, had a chocolate marshmallow stout while I had Austin Eastciders. He loved the stout. read more

What a gorgeous facility. Huge patio with TVs and fans. Big inside area when it is too hot. Someone invested a ton of money into this. It's a brewery so it would be common knowledge that they would not have wine. We had the Swiggy. Very good IPA. Would drink again. We did not eat as we just had lunch.
