The food was just okay, and the service was bad and annoying. Maybe the french toast is worth it, but I can't eat bread and I don't like sugar. Mediocre food that was served cold and took way too long (45 minutes for a French dip sub and a slice of premade quiche?!) The au jus tasted like a bowl of saltwater and the quiche would have been pretty good but it was unevenly warmed up. I ordered soup and the server didn't even know it was on the menu. She went and supposedly asked someone, then came back and said yes they did have it. Then when she brought my sandwich she said no we don't have soup anymore. No apology, no offer of a substitution, and why did it take 45 minutes to ask someone? When it was time to pay, she ignored my card sitting on the edge of the table, so I went up to the register to pay. Four people standing around doing nothing, all ignored me. Our server finally saw me and came to ring me up, then stood there awkwardly while I filled out the slip. I regret overtipping at almost 18%. read more

Our motel recommended this place. Food pictures looked good so we pulled the trigger. Based on reviews we expected a wait. We walked in and I noticed it was packed. Hostess gave us a 10-15 wait time. I've eaten at this place for years, but today may have been my last straw. Don't get me wrong, the food is incredible, but the service here as gone down hill (think of the biggest hill you've ever seen and Bear Paw,s service is down there at the bottom). It took 35 Minutes for our waitress to inform my family that they "lost our order" and another 20 min to get our food (even though they claim they would "rush the order"). My coffee took over 15 minutes to hit the table. Just terrible service, and that always leads to a bad experience, which you can't overcome no matter how good the food. Now permit me to add the following: the manager (younger guy) was very apologetic and professional and did what he could after the issue was brought to his attention. I hope he keeps his word that his family is making changes to better the service. Word to the wise, get rid of the problem(s) - our server will cause this place to tank. read more

Called and was told we would be seated as soon as we got there. Family of 8. 6 small hungry kids. Got there and told it would be 30 minutes because they got suddenly really busy. We were told to go out and they would call us. An hour and fifteen minutes later, still nothing. they said the owners daughter had come so they gave her our table and to go back and wait. Waited another fifteen minutes and then told we would have been seated If we had waited at the door and not left around the corner to occupy 6 hungry kids- but they told us to and that they told us they would call! After an hour and a half we were finally seated. We've waited another hour and still no food. Got here at 8:30 and it's 11 and we still haven't eaten. The service is the absolute worst I've ever encountered. No matter how good the food is- if we ever get to eat- it can't be worth the horrible rude service and the ridiculously long wait. Very good breakfast spot. This place gets very busy on the weekends, so prepare to wait. And the service is average, at best. But, once seated the food & drinks make up for the mediocre service. Coffee and tea choices are awesome for Utah. They feature five coffee blends and many teas - black, green and Oolong (in St. George!) We had the apple oatmeal pecan pancakes, very good & unique dish and the veggie omelet with home fries. Very fresh and tasty. The portions were quite large and coffee was delicious. Actually the coffee was amazing. We stayed at the Dixie Palms motel and had a 10% off coupon. Great place for kids to eat. The breakfast is where it is at. The pancakes are very good. My kids like the chocolate chip pancakes (surprise!). We always eat here for breakfast if we are in town. I always get eggs with some type of veggies. It does not taste too greasy. There are also shops on this street you can visit while you are waiting to be seated. Not a big place so it is hard for big groups to get seated. There will be a wait if you go for breakfast. The last time we were there the service was not good. The only thing more shocking than the absolutely terrible, largely inedible mess presented to us as 'breakfast' is the quantity of positive reviews for this dive. Perhaps St. George diners are big fans of raw potatoes, bathwater coffee and heaps of dubious oil, or perhaps their cook was just hitting the oxycontin today, but h o l y shit was it bad. This is literally my first negative review of a restaurant, ever. While I'd rather spend this time curled up in the fetal position as my intestinal tract is slowly destroyed, I feel a responsibility to convey to the general public the horror I just experienced. It began well enough-- nice big glass windows, clean-ish, decor that leaned heavily on southwestern kitsch. We were promptly seated, in chairs which, to my delight, had wheels on them. Neat. The menu was expansive, with all the breakfast classics on offer. We perused as we awaited our coffee. This is where things started to fall apart. First off, we were never brought water. Perhaps they figured with coffee so watered-down, it would have been redundant. It was sorely missed, however, because, had it been provided, it would have been the highlight of the meal. I ordered the eggs benedict-- I'll admit, it's a challenging dish, and at first glance it seemed alright. The eggs were poached appropriately, the hollandaise was recognizable as hollandaise. When I took a bite, however, I was greeted with an overpowering chlorine blast as my tongue hit the the ham. Concerning. I am a trooper, though, and I rarely complain about food, as it's always a blessing, in my view. That view, however, was shaken today. Beyond the chemical bouquet of the ham, the dish was largely flavourless. It was as though someone with no sense of taste or smell had re-imagined the recipe into a salty, confused puddle of gross. Seeking respite, I dug in to the hashbrowns, only to receive a mouthful of cold, slimy, raw potato worms that quite possibly still had ice crystals on them. And we aren't talking like, fancy truffle oil or even a passable olive, clearly the kitchen was getting creative and had locally sourced their cooking oil from the gutters out back. At this point, I wanted to simply leave, but the most diplomatic of our table had a very polite chat, and we were assured that the situation would be remedied. All good. We waited. After 15, 20 minutes, out came..... three plates of hashbrowns, all even *more* undercooked than before. Like, for real, I'm doubtful they even hit the pan. I guess the thinking was that oil and heat were interchangable, so in lieu of actually cooking the potatoes, they just gave it another gallon of gutter grease and called it good. We were over it at this point, and asked for the check. Recognizing that they had delivered us a breakfast of inedible crimes against food, and clearly trying to head off a lawsuit for the culinary trauma they had inflicted, the staff graciously offered to discount our order by a whole six dollars. I would have paid them an extra six dollars to pump my stomach and wipe my memory. BEWARE. Food this bad changes a person forever. My insides will heal, my love of hashbrowns will return, I probably won't get a foodborn illness (chlorine tastes like safety, mmm)-- but my faith in humanity will never recover. read more

I had Judd's Avocado Sandwich (avocados, mushrooms, tomatoes, lettuce, really creamy mayo) on wonderful artisan wheat bread..perfection. atmosphere was great with very comfortable seating. The French toast is 3" thick and you have your choice of brûlée fillings. Another great dish is Grandma's Oatmeal. It's a large portion of oatmeal in a giant sundae dish. It's topped with granola, pecans and other delicious toppings. The home fries are small potato slices seasoned, baked, and are a perfect addition to a sweet entree. Whether you're seeking something savory or sweet for breakfast you can't go wrong. Sometimes the wait can be long so go early. read more

This is good eating, especially if you enjoy breakfast foods. I've come here several times and have always left satisfied. My only two complaints is that it is pretty small, so you often have to wait to get in (but it is worth the wait). I don't bother coming at noon anymore, if there is a line I'm probably not getting in during my lunch hour. My other complaint is that it isn't open for dinner. I mean, it's a good thing to say that I wish I could eat there more often. But having it open for dinner would be awesome! If you can get in and grab a seat, you'll be happy you did. read more

I've loved the restaurant for over 20 years. It's the best place to eat breakfast in St. George. Hands down. The servers are always nice, as long as you are nice to them. Waited an hour for food on a Monday morning. Ignored after being seated. Many people ordered, received food and ate before ours was served. Freezing cold in the restaurant, servers were wearing jackets. All the food was cold within minutes due to the air conditioning. Eggs Benedict was awful - hard cooked eggs, soggy English muffin and flavorless hollandaise. The omelet was a thin pancake type egg with fillings - fine, nothing special. Really great breakfast, good service and nice atmosphere. Accommodated for my friend with a toddler and baby, even brought out a coloring book and crayons. Small cafe, but not too crowded at 9am on a weekday. Loved the stuffed French toast, and the portion sizes were huge! Hot chocolate was fantastic, and comes in a small or large. My friend loves her chocolate chip pancakes, and even said that even though she doesn't usually like syrup she liked it there. I will compare every breakfast I will ever have in my life to Bear Paw. I will stay one extra day of every vacation just to have an extra breakfast at Bear Paw. I will never complain about the 6 hour drive to Utah because I will delight in some Bear Paw. We had breakfast here 3 times while we were on vacation. I am so fortunate to have chosen an apple waffle (plain) on our first visit because it was SO delicious that I had it again every time thereafter. They also have some amazing home fries. I love home fries, house potatoes, whatever each place decides to call them but these are extra special because they're like round french fries covered in seasoning salt. The best I've ever had. We also had some stuffed french toast, bacon, eggs and eggs Benedict. The apple waffle though...my favorite all around. If you go during their peak hours you can wait up to 45 minutes. The restaurant is pretty small. They have great coffee too though. If you ask for some coffee to go after your meal you're all set for your drive back home. read more

First off, LONG WAIT. Always. I am writing a review based off 3 visits there. The food is very good. I have ordered smoothies, french toast, bacon, eggs, pancakes, toast, quiche and omelettes over the 3 visits I have had there and none of it has disappointed. I wouldn't say that any of it was exceptionally unique but it was good and I would recommend any of those items if you were to visit there. My family members have never been disappointed by the things they have ordered there either. I gave 4 stars because it is not very clean and the service was lacking a bit. They obviously need a bigger place to service the amount of business they get but I have just come to expect a long wait if I am going to go there. If you are looking for breakfast in St. George, it is the place to go and in my opinion, worth the wait. read more
