Sunday brunch. Monthly meeting up with friends. Different place each month. Bishops is busy so a wait maybe necessary. Food is plentiful "diner food". Salads are huge. Burgers are decent, and breakfast items are what Sundays are meant to be Eggs are "eggzactly" the way you want. Don't forget the over the top pancakes, French toast, homefries or hashbrowns, did I mention scones or the to die for cinnamon bun. Bishop has no theme, no gimmick. Just good food, sassy waitresses, and a damn good cook and grill person. Plus it's still affordable. This is the Washington/ St George location. Not Sunset. read more

We visited Bishops on Sunset Tuesday around 8:30 am. Not busy at all. With all the tables open we were sat in the very very back where it was a bit cramped. The server approached pretty quickly. We placed our order of an omelet with an english muffin, 1 piece of french toast and a side of bacon. The food arrived pretty quickly-except the dish the bacon was on was cold and so was the bacon. It felt like they just took it out of the fridge-it was not freshly cooked. She said "the muffin has to go down twice" and walked away. I knew what she meant. We finished our meal without the english muffin. the bacon sat untouched on the cold dish. She never came back to check on us. She got another table and stood there talking and joking with them, ignoring the table she already had. We had to walk towards the front to get our check. I told her to take the bacon off because it was served cold on a cold dish....crickets...nothing, no apology, nothing. She cashed us out without an apology of the service or cold food. Unpretentious and welcoming atmosphere. Excellent service. Prices were decent. I ordered the French Dip sandwich with fries and thought it was very good. Fries were perfectly crisped and hot. Super friendly staff. So, yeah, it is only open until 3:00pm, but I arrived after 2pm and did not feel rushed to get out. Enjoyed a leisurely meal in a good vibe place. Will be back. read more

My review is for the location in St. George at Dixie and Sunset Blvd (in the Albertsons center) This is your typical American diner and the menu/food meets that benchmark. It's exactly what you want on a Sunday morning. Lately, however, the staff at this particular location has made it a regrettable experience for me. The hostess (young lady, with very long hair)) absolutely, positively does not want to be there and she does not care if I like my table or my meal. That's the very first experience you have when you go to a restaurant - the person who greets you and seats you. Some of the wait staff is just over the top friendly and hilarious and great and then the other half also doesn't care if you're there. I have actually chosen to cook breakfast at home instead of going to Bishop's for these very reasons. I hope management has a chat with staff. read more

As far as diners go, this place is top shelf! Inside it's got the typical breakfast counter and all the feel of a classic diner. The menu goes on forever (9 pages). Portions sizes are large!!! I had the steak and eggs with hash browns. My boy had the corned beef hash. Both were good excellent! The service was excellent and food came quick. The place is a hidden gem! I will be back! You know that episode of Parks and Rec, when the Ben character is absolutely bewildered that the entire town is obsessed with a mini horse? There's nothing special about the horse but everyone treats it like it's some incredible animal. That's how I feel about Bishop's. My wife and I went yesterday because of the reviews, we're visiting from Vegas. It was cramped, although the service was fast. The food however, was terrible. The biscuits and gravy: the biscuits were mushy and flavorless. The gravy tasted like watered down butter and a dash of black pepper. The chocolate chip pancake: large, but dry. The ham steak: had a weird, chemically taste. Slightly peppery, hard to explain. Bacon: good. Scrambled eggs: rubbery and tasted like boxed eggs. The hash browns: gross, with of course no flavor. My wife asked for them to be extra crispy, but the waitress said that wouldn't be possible. Really? Overall, the food was so bland that it was literally depressing. It all tasted like frozen/boxed food. It's astonishing that is has so many good reviews. Vegas is full of restaurants of the same price or lower, not on the Strip, that has infinitely better food. read more

I ordered the 2 egg breakfast with sausage and a scone. The food was prepared well and I enjoyed my breakfast. The restaurant is clean, and very much a locals spot so you may want to show up early. I ordered a scone, it was not what I expected, this was a fluffy fry bread. It was delicious with a little bit of powdered sugar and I am sure I could have eaten 5 of them if I had a large enough stomach. If you plan on ordering the scone this is not a traditional quick bread biscuit type scone. It is more of an Indian fry bread you may find at a fair. Delicious all the same. read more

The absolute go to for a home town diner feel and taste. The cinnamon rolls are out of this world (a lot of their food is). My ONLY complaint is their generic Folgers coffee is terrible! They need to drop Folgers' and find a local brewer. read more

Three menu items you need to try: BREADED FRIES: I'm typically not a big French fry fan but I couldn't stop eating these! Well-fried and we'll seasoned. Fry-sauce comes on the side! SCONES: Wow. Wow. Wow. Amazing texture and the perfect amount of powdered sugar. And the honey butter?!! The cherry on top. Dangerously good!! SWEET ROLL: Holy hell that thing is huge. I was worried taste and texture would be compromised due to the size, but I was VERY wrong. Have you ever tried King Cake? That's exactly what it tasted like to me. It may be the best cinnamon roll I've ever had. The only negative was that they forgot a couple things with our order and didn't provide any cutlery. Had breakfast on a Tuesday. The food was fine. My wife had a classic 2 egg breakfast. My Western Omelet was good but the sauce kinda dominated. The real oddity was the cinnamon roll. It absolutely filled a 12" plate and had enough icing for a whole extra one! Honestly, I am not sure why you would make a pastry like this. It would be plenty for 6 generous servings. Disappointing visit this past weekend. We were there around one in the afternoon-not quite the middle of lunch rush. We noticed there were several empty tables and 2-3 that were ready to be cleaned up. (Still had plates, etc, but nobody eating at them.) Our server was friendly, but slow to come greet us and even slower to deliver drinks and food. We waited for what felt like an eternity for our food to be brought out, and when it did, it was cold. The gravy on the potatoes had coagulated and the potatoes underneath had the temperature and consistency of one that had been sitting on a warmer for awhile. I'm not sure if our server forgot our food or what, but by the time we got it, we were so starving that we went ahead and ate it. But it was not great. I noticed similar experiences for folks sitting around us. Maybe it was just a bad day all around, but I'll likely head elsewhere when looking for a small town diner to enjoy. read more

We love going to Bishop's as you get a lot of good food for your money. This visit my hubby had a veggie omelet. It was very fluffy and delicious. Came with hash browns. I like that they have a menu for smaller appetites. I had a blueberry pancake that came with bacon. The menu contains many items to choose from and we've never been disappointed. Astonishingly mediocre. The service, the ambiance, the food. All disappointing. It wasn't that busy yet they clearly seemed overwhelmed. You could tell there is a lot of potential with the menu but the execution was inferior across the board. In hindsight I should have sent my "country breakfast" back as it was served at near room temperature, but, after waiting so long for the food to arrive and the general lack of confidence instilled in me by every interaction with the establishment up to that point I opted not to say anything and just deal with a lukewarm meal. The coffee was watered down and the servers attention to refills non-existent. All in all, will not return. I hear the location in Washington actually lives up to the hype. When we first got to the restaurant, everything went well. They got us seated pretty quickly & our waitress, Liz, came to grab our orders. Everything went down hill from there. Our food came out quickly, but didn't seem like it was freshly made. It was almost as if it just came out of a microwave instead of fresh off the grill. Liz forgot to bring our drinks to the table & then failed to check in with us. The only other time she came by the table was to ask if she gave us our ticket. We won't be eating here anymore. I came here to pick up a cinnamon roll to go, and they heated it up in the microwave for me. It was quite sweet, and it was gigantic! The consistency was pretty much like eating bread, which wasn't a bad thing. The icing was just sugar and nothing too special, and I scraped a lot of it off because it was a bit too sweet. It was $4.31 which is very awesome price for how big it was! I appreciated how they asked whether I wanted butter on top and takeaway utensils too. Wow!!! We moved to the St George area a few months ago and it's been a struggle to find good restaurants here. This place is a GEM! The service was top notch and the food was amazing. We asked our server what she recommended and she told us the breakfast burrito and southwest omelet were her favorites because of the sauce. She was right. The sauce is homemade and was soooo good! We also ordered their scone with honey butter. It was so big and so tasty! Their soft drinks are even a solid size and cheaper than most places.
