Unbelievable service! I took several of their business cards when they left, because I would recommend them to anyone and everyone. Felt like I was treated exactly as I would be treated if I were a member of their family. After a very negative experience with another co. that AHS sent out, Bear was sent as a 2nd opinion. Not only did they spend an hour diagnosing the problem, they also helped me drain my hot water heater, cleaning all the sediment out that was blocking the release drain and preventing me from being able to drain it myself. AND they successfully diagnosed a rust issue without insisting that we break the wall behind the shower, which the 1st co. had said was necessary. They also replaced a faulty intake pipe to a copper one at no extra charge. They even replaced the bathtub galvanized metal pipe to a copper one in case it would help the rust issue even a little, and to make sure I was completely satisfied. Needless to say I was, above and beyond. All of this at no charge! IOW, they did not bill out for any of the extra time, labor or parts beyond the regular service call fee that is charged per AHS ($60.00) just for them to show up, this almost unheard of. The 1st co. left me frustrated with absolutely no resolution. That other co. also gave me the feeling that they didn't want to be here, all my questions were annoying, and they were doing me a favor-completely unacceptable in business. When I called to speak with a supervisor over my concerns, I found out I had been dealing with an area supervisor so that was the best service I could hope to receive from them. Bear Plumbing was like the day to the other co.'s night. I was treated with patience, kindness, professionalism and the utmost attention. Again, they did not charge the owner (I am the renter) any additional fees for this, even though none of these services were covered under the AHS contract. They said all they wanted to do was make sure I was satisfied and they truly felt bad for me for the experience I had had the day before with the other co. In addition, I live in a remote area several miles from their home office location and another co. had mentioned charging a fee to cover gas for the extra miles driven. Thank you again John and Bear Plumbing! I am so relieved to know their is a co. out there like you. Honestly, I cannot say enough good things about Bear Plumbing. This was my 1st experience with them and it won't be my last. I will insist on using them for all future plumbing needs. I returned home at 7pm to find my family room carpeting soaked. Obviously the first person I blamed was my 15 year-old son. Well, I wish it was his fault, but it turned out that a copper pipe in my wall was leaking. Dealing with my home warranty company only made the evening and situation worse as they could not find a plumber in their "network" available to come out until morning. Since I had to turn the water off to reduce more damage, I must say I wasn't a happy camper. I called back in a few hours and spoke to a supervisor to deal with my situation immediately. Within 15 minutes of that call, which I hope they taped for training purposes, Bear Plumbing & Rooter Inc. said they would send a team out as soon as possible to deal with my situation. Although they were very busy, they heard in my voice that taking care of the problem immediately was very important. My evening got much better after their arrival. John and his partner arrived around 11:30pm and they had a wonderful attitude (they should train those customer service reps at my home warranty company). The first thing they did was put on shoe covers before they entered my home. Within a few minutes after turning back on the water, they found the leak and repaired it within 10 - 15 minutes. This job required the removal of dry wall and all of it was collected leaving the area spotless. I forgot to mention they needed to move a very large and heavy TV to get to the problem. I would definitely recommend Bear Plumbing for ANY plumbing needs and their emergency service was just fantastic. The answered every question professionally and also added a little humor which I needed this evening. Finally, I'm not a Yelp member, but I became one right after they left because they deserved this recognition. I posted on 10/29/2013 (see below). After everything I went through with Bear I called to make a complaint. Not about the service provided or lack of knowledge from the technician, but the customer service I received from the tech. I was told that I would receive a call back that day from the business owner to hear and further handle my complaint. I was told that Bear takes these complaints serious. More than 24 hours has gone by and I have yet to hear from the business owner regarding my complaint. It is obvious that Bear does not care about customer service. It is obvious that Bear employs unprofessional people that do not have the knowledge base to do their job. For example.... As I explained in my last post Bear denied that there was a problem with my toilet. Even after explaining what the problem was over and over again, I was denied. At first I thought maybe I was wrong. Maybe there was nothing wrong with my toilet. Well hear you have it. Another plumber has inspected my toilet and confirmed that it does need to be replaced and that Bear did not properly diagnose the problem, and has installed a new toilet. Point blank....... Bear is an unprofessional and untrained company. Stay away!! I am a do it yourselfer and knew more about my toilet than this "licensed?" plumber. Not to mention the customer service was horrible, and it is obvious that the owner could careless about employing unprofessional employees. read more

Forgot to mention that they also billed me for a Water Heater Disposal Fee but NEVER TOOK MY WATER HEATER! My water restoration company took it for me complimentary!!! OOPS...forgot to take that off the bill too! Spoke with John over the weekend and he wouldn't even listen to me when I asked for an explanation of how he could sleep at night knowing he charge me nearly a $1000 for 30 minutes and $50 in parts.....he just said he didn't need to explain anything and that if I disputed his charges with my credit card company, he would file a lien on my home and TAKE MY HOME AWAY FROM ME! Hahaha....for a $500 dispute on my credit card.....Does he really think I am that dumb that I would think he could take my home away from me? What a class act this guy John is. Told me we were talking on a recorded line which turned out to be another lie....it was his cell phone number. I am just upset with myself that I let him get to me. I have filed a contractors board complaint and will be fighting his bogus charges both with my credit card and with the board of licensed contractors. I offered him a fair deal to split the charges with me and charge me what the other 3 plumbers I later spoke to said would have been fair. Now he's gonna have to fight me for every penny. My experience with Bear's tactics was an outright criminal con game. They will do ANYTHING in order to create a reason a component is not covered under whichever warranty company they contract with. They will and did plant false evidence in order to justify their denial of a claim. I was told a "penny" found in the garbage disposal was causing it to leak, voiding the warranty. Unknowingly of what exactly what was leaking underneath my sink......but in preparation for this appointment, I ran some lemon peel through the disposal just prior to their arrival and the motor operation worked just fine, no clacking metal heard. However the Bear's technician showed me this poor mangled penny as the "supposed" for culprit for the leak, which by the way he took with him when he left.........because it was his penny to begin with!!!!! The saddest part of all is I'm a renter, with my lease up next month. Bear's plumbing could have possibly given my landlord a reason doubt how I care for her property and choose not to resign me, leaving me homeless. Luckily I have a fair and reasonable landlord who had another company do the repair and all is well but it is painful know what Bear's is willing to do to another human being......... all for $$$$$$$ and ￠￠￠￠￠￠ read more

Today our home warranty company (American Home Shield) referred Bear Plumbing to our house to clear a very difficult clogged drain pipe of about 80 feet that was causing both our kitchen sink and washing machine to back up - both unusable. The first technicians to arrive and attempt to clear the pipe were Armani and Alex, both very courteous and professional. After almost an hour of battling with the pipe and their power snake tool, the drain pipe was simply not clearing. As it was getting dark and a Saturday night, we figured that they would give up, collect their money and report that they couldn't complete the job at this time. Wrong! Rather than leaving us hanging for another day or longer, they phoned a supervisor named John who was not far from our house and he came to assist them with additional tools and support. After another long hour of battling the pipe, they cleared the problem and ran several tests to ensure that everything was working properly. John, Armani and Alex were very friendly, professional, informative and courteous. We felt very comfortable with all three gentleman and appreciate their assistance a great deal. I was referred by one of my neighbors to this company. I had a leak on water heater, so I decided to call them. First of all I called 3 times, which finally some one picked up the phone and with attitude gave me an appointment date one week later with 5 HOURS time frame (9 am to 2 pm)!! at the appointment day I got day off from work but they showed up 2 hours later than their time frame and finally at 4 pm a person Named Alex showed up and asked me for $75 upfront for service fee without any other question!!After he check the water heater which took 2 minutes, he said main tank has leak and there is no way to fix and recommended to change the water heater to tank less and quoted me $1500 and said if you sign the service order right now I'll use $75 towards the service agreement. I decided to get a second opinion from another company, it appeared that it wasn't a major problem which requires to change the whole water heater and it was a simple valve leak that cost me $45. So be aware of this company ! they are trying to fool you at the time to get your signature and rip you off! read more

I am a subscriber to American Home Shield insurance and really don't have much to say about who they send out for a repair. Most of the time I am OK with the job if not entirely pleased. This time for a plumbing repair I hit gold. The dispatcher heard the desperation in my voice and tried, though booked for the day, to successfully to get a team out before nightfall. The team, Armani and Arp, showed up within the promised time frame, quickly went about diagnosing the problems, and found solutions even though there was a slight hiccup with the toilet stoppage problem. They were experts at their game and worked quickly, but carefully, as a team, to resolve the plumbing problems. They cleaned up after themselves and left me with suggestions on how to avoid some problems in the future. Whether you are an AHS subscriber or not I can strongly recommend Bear Plumbing for your plumbing needs. Certainly, in the future, should the need arise, I will request Bear Plumbing, and in particular, the team of Armani and Arp. read more

Not recommended. Avoid if you can. If you have a home warranty ask for a different vender. Visit call placed through FNHW and they showed up for diagnosis (I think it was the business owner but not sure). There were four issues to diagnosis and approve. Bear tech lied in his diagnosis and got all four repairs denied. I found later that he knew exactly what he was doing. I have to place a second opinion call (and pay again) and the repairs got approved. One of the repairs where a loose screw handle needs to be tightened only. Bear Pluming lied in their report so they don't have to come back. Correcting the false report took a lot of time and effort beside the visit charges. It appears Bear plumbing do not want to get work away from home in north Hollywood (to Hawthorne) and they were happy to collect visit charge and lie so they don't have to come back. In summary, I don't know how good of Plummers they are. if you have home warranty stay away from Bear Pluming. If you are paying cash you're by own. read more

We were very fortunate that our home warranty company referred us to Bear Plumbing, as they expertly and easily resolved issues that the previously assigned plumbers couldn't fix. John and his assistant were as gracious as they were knowledgable - they listened carefully to me describe the problems we were experiencing, examined the specific areas in great detail and immediately diagnosed the culprits that were either ignored or overlooked by the prior company that came out. His assessments were not only spot on, but he had the replacement parts in his truck so no waiting for new equipment, all in stock; and he also respectfully explains in layperson terms so that customers clearly understand the repairs involved. He even asked if everything else was working ok. I will advise my home warranty company that they should absolutely make Bear Plumbing their go-to service provider, and I even asked John for extra business cards so I could recommend Bear Plumbing to others. I called Bear Plumbing and Rooter this morning to set up a service call. Within 30 minutes I had a call back to come out the same day. They gave me a four hour window, and came at the beginning of that window. The service technision by the name of John Tiratsuyan was very friendly and saw what my problem was in an instant. I had problems with one of out toilets and John fixed the problem within a few minutes. I never saw someone figure out a probem so fast and repair the problem in a very quick manor. I would highly recommened John Tiratsuyan for all your plumbing needs. In fact they called me to let me know that John would be at my place in 20 minutes. How many times have you used a plumbing service and they called to let you know they will be at your residence within 20 minutes. I was washing pots and pans Thursday evening (12/19/13) and after a few the kitchen sink got backed up. I tried using a plunger several times but I couldn't get it unclogged. Finally, after a couple of Liquid Plumbers and more plungering, I got the drain to flow. Well, my wife insisted to call the plumbers out just to trouble shoot any future problems. Bear Plumbing came out on Saturday afternoon (12/21/13) and to my pleasant surprise it was, again, Armani and his coworker who came out for our $16,000 job in July 2013. They were all smiles and promptly went upstairs to take a look. Everything was still free flowing. They then went downstairs to snake the pipes. After only 10 to 15 minutes, they were done. If you ever need any plumbing work, regardless of where you live, I strongly recommend Bear Plumbing!!!
