Not sure what happened but being our first time there, not sure we'll be back. They overcharged a smidge for the tree too, my husband measured it to be 6 ft they said 7, I guess wouldn't have bothered us if the check out issue didn't occur. $90 for 7 foot. But the tree is gorgeous and holding up great. I recommend it for the selection and location. They have a small store and hot cocoa. They have some farm animals in the back too.

None of the places we've gone to in previous years (Sears parking lot, Main Street in Milltown, etc.) were set up. I know it was raining, and rain can deter tree shoppers, but Thanksgiving was late this year, so not only is it quite common for people to get their tree sometime during the holiday weekend, but Christmas is only about 3 weeks away -- so where were all the trees?!? We decided to drive around and see if we could find any place that was selling trees. We almost drove right past the sign for Harris Farm, but, boy oh boy, am I glad we didn't! What a great selection of super fresh trees! And despite the fact that it was cold and raining cats and dogs, the young men who greeted and helped us were warm and sunny. The tree prices are reasonable ($49) and actually less than what I thought a "farm tree" would cost. I still can't explain why there were no Christmas trees to be found the weekend after Thanksgiving, but this bizarre day led us to the farm we'll definitely go to for our tree from now on.

There was a huge pile of them in the back waiting to fill empty spots. The trees were harvested very young. This tree was about 1/3 the weight of a tree that you would cut yourself, and yet the same height. They were thin as well. And then the price. They were the most expensive trees I've ever seen. They cost more than cutting one yourself. The only good thing about the place was that the guys working put the skinny trees on your car and tied them down. And how are you gonna charge $5 for hot chocolate when you're gouging on all the trees. First and last time I ever go here.

So we googled and came across Wolgast. Here is how it works..... You arrive and park off the gravel road, cross the road on foot over to the giant field of trees. Once you choose one you can either opt to cut it down yourself with a hack saw or wave for an employee who will cut it down with a chainsaw. All trees are $45 from little baby ones to the 15 footers. They definitely have a better selection compared to the place down the road which had only a Charlie Brown selection and this place appears to be planting replacements. Some of the largest trees were a bit bare on top but we found a good one despite it being much smaller than the 14 footer we had from the past couple of years. The staff was very nice and I was able to get a tree garbage bag to put over the tree to minimize the fall out spreading across the house when we toss it. This was my first experience getting a real Christmas tree and I was super excited and ready to chop down my own tree and haul it back home. That would have been $65. We drove an hour to get there. But when I got there, I was a bit disappointed with their selection on the actual farm. They were all like 4 feet tall and very rounded out on the bottom. They had cut down all the nice looking trees and put them out for sale for $90. We walked around and decided to just buy the nice looking one that was pre-cut for $90. The tree was 8 feet tall Frazier fir and they were able to trim it down to around 7 for me. The staff wrapped it all up and placed it in my car and helped my friend tie hers to the rack of her car. Staff were all super nice and helpful with the tree. They sell tree stands but I would highly recommend investing in the Genie Christmas tree stand that you can buy online so you don't have to worry about screwing the tree in properly. Otherwise they were selling tree stands for $40/45 I think. Bring cash! I would have given 4 stars if I found nicer looking trees on the actual farm. Overall, I was super happy with the tree it made my apartment smell so nicer

They had everything from pies and wine to fruits and flowers, bags of soil and local honey to cacti and jams. I was in heaven. Their herbs were all healthy and very reasonably priced and I ended up getting a giant bag of potting soil for like $5. There was only one woman manning the stand when we stopped by but she was friendly and quick and answered all of our questions. We were on the hunt for a lilac bush and, although they didn't have the particular one we were hoping for, they had a few beauties we were tempted by. This was my first time here (in May) but this might just be our next Christmas tree stop next year! Happy to have found the Country Gentleman!
