My 9 y/o was punched in the face by two bullies and not one of the four life guards standing at opposite ends of the pool saw a thing. The manager, Sarah Swanlund allowed the perpetrators to continue swimming while my son sat crying on the bench. After speaking to the boys who claimed no fault of their own and in fact blamed my much smaller, younger son of assaulting them, didn't bother asking my son for his side of the story. My son complained to me of difficulties moving his jaw and headache. I ended up taking my son to urgent care and filing a complaint with law enforcement. Mary Swanlund did nothing to protect my child and when asked to do the very least by escorting the kids off the premises, she decided to smirk and smile condescendingly, blinking her eyes without saying a word. As we were leaving, I did see the two boys laughing at my son still crying and talking about how annoyed they were that my son wanted to play with them.

I think it's great because it gets so hot in Bakersfield in the summer time and it's a great family place for everyone. With the swimming pools and the waterslides, it's just a blast to be there. Recently, the playground got a revamp. While I do miss the nostalgic charm of the old sand, I can't deny that the new design is sleek, clean, and inviting. Not the most impressive little park, but I'm so happy it exists! I just wish it were better maintained. The two tennis courts were empty on a Saturday afternoon when I went for my visit. Because of the proximity to the duck pond, despite the gates, there were some droppings inside the court (minimal, but couldn't help but cringe a little if a tennis ball bounced close) There are also some cracks on the court that can alter your play a bit, but I'm not a pro or even that picky and it didn't bother me that much! I still had a lot of fun playing tennis at this little park!

This park is usually pretty clean. It has a playground, picnic tables with bbq grills, basketball…read morecourt and tennis court. No bathrooms, so I've seen men urinating behind bushes a few times. The disc golf baskets are placed very close to the kids playground and picnic tables. It's very common for discs to hit the playground while very young children are playing. I've had a few close calls, almost being hit with a disc even when I was nowhere near the baskets. And I've seen other children and adults almost get hit with discs. They'll throw discs even while there are groups of people hanging in the area. It's just not a good idea to have disc golf at this park.
