Getting a cream puff at Beard Papa's Bellaire was honestly my ritual, unfortunately that location closed down. I was excited to find another Beard Papa's that was actually closer to where I live, but I'm so sad to say this location lacks in service and quality. The employees were just unhelpful and disinterest in being there. Not a single greeting upon walking in, not a single attempt to sell to us. We were the only customer on a Saturday afternoon and with service that poorly, it doesn't surprise me. I've had plenty of Beard Papa's cream puffs in the past that oozes with rich and tasty filling. Napkins were constantly needed with every bite. I work in the area and I've always been so intrigued by this place!! Finally came with a friend last night for a quick sweet treat. The storefront is easy to find and there is a decent amount of parking outside. Inside is pretty clean, I will say though that there are a couple of arm chairs that have definitely seen better days. A good amount of stains on them kept me from wanting to sit in them. :/ But otherwise, the place was nice inside. We split the Oreo e-clair/creme puff with vanilla filling. After purchasing a Latte at a nearby coffee shop I was craving a pastry to go with it. However, since I am not a big sweets fan I did not want something major and decided to stop here. To my surprise, they had assorted flavored eclairs with filings. I thought it would be the usual filing known, but they had much more than that. The filings that stuck out to me were Strawberry Cheese Cake and Green tea. Since, I chose the Coconut eclair I paired it with green tea. From the moment I tried it I feel in love! It was the perfect pastry with crispiness, flavor and the pastry feel without the overbearing sweetness of a normal pastry.The young lady who took the order was very kind. I'm not going to lie, usually when I walk into this place the aroma is phenomenal. I don't know what is going on tonight, but it smells horrible in here. We're taking our stuff to go and hopefully our cream puffs do not take on the smell that is going on in here right now. It is really bad. If this is how it normally smells in here, I will not ever be back to this location. So bad, I can't even wait in here while we wait for our items. But it is definitely inside the building that smells, the minute I walk outside the odor is gone. So I didn't post that review initially because it was pretty brutal because of the smell. We did go back a few weeks later and the odor was gone. The cream puffs are really good and unique. Definitely worth trying a few different flavors out. I'm not much for the out of the norm unusual flavors, but my son is and he really enjoys some of the oddities here. I am more a plain cream puff with the plain vanilla filling. I typically order ahead, but even in person the cream puffs come out quickly and the cream does not compromise the texture of the outer shell. My favorite is the creme brulee and the creams are never too sweet. A nice study space, thought their drinks are pretty mediocre. read more

I thought this place was for beard oils!! I love a good eclair and this place did not disappoint. I've been plotting the idea of checking this place out ever since I noticed it on the Door Dash app. The place is spacious and not a lot of people there. The associates working seemed friendly even though it was hard to hear what was being said through the glass and the mask . Luckily for them I knew what I wanted and I got the s'mores and chocolate eclairs both filled with chocolate. Been looking for an opportunity to try this place and it finally came. Clean, well decorated and yet virtually empty. Staff were very pleasant and quick to explain their product, cream puffs. You pick the outside and fill it with one of 4 creams, vanilla, chocolate, green tea and the flavor of the month. This month features mixed berries. Came in a Friday night @ around 8 pm and ordered the s'mores & Oreo with vanilla filling (unfortunately I forgot to take a pic) -- but I was heavily disappointed. This shell was very hard and the filling was the appropriate amount but what threw me off was the smell and taste of these dessert. They tasted exactly like the air of a boba restaurant (if you know what I mean). If you have never had a FRESH cream puff before, look no further! The plaza is very spacious so you will likely not have a problem with finding a parking space. The employees were also very kind and did not hesitate to explain the process of choosing a cream puff. Basically, you choose the top flavor and then the filling. I had the strawberry eclaire with vanilla (can't go wrong with that huh) The strawberry eclaire was like eating those concentrated strawberry yogurt candies with a kick of tartness and the vanilla cream was light and kind of flavorless-maybe I should have chosen a less tart flavor to go with my cream puff? However, I did have a friend who got matcha flavor with chocolate cream and YESSS! I used to live in LA so was so happy to see this franchise make its way to being closeby to me again. I was in the mood for dessert and didn't want the usual fare (cookies, donuts, ice cream, etc), so I was intrigued by cream puffs. The first time, we gave them a try via DoorDash and ordered the honey butter, eclair, and s'mores with vanilla and chocolate fillings. Our favorite was the honey butter. The second time, I decided to drop by the store around 6pm, and they were out of honey butter, so I went with eclair and two strawberry with vanilla and chocolate fillings. As the employee was filling up the shells, I was able to ask about their menu, and she piqued my curiosity to give creme brûlée and green tea matcha a try next time. Am I crazy about them? It's a nice little place & love the vibrant yellow color of the store, it's very welcoming & has a positive vibe. We went about an hour before closing & they still had some cream puffs but not a lot, nonetheless we were still able to get the Honey & Butter Cream Puff with Vanilla filling. The price is a bit expensive for 2 puffs which we paid $9 for.
