I came here for Boba with high expectations. Don't get me wrong only because I had some amazing Boba not too long ago. I got the black milk tea with Boba 100%-normal sugar and I gotta say it just didn't really have a good milk tea flavor. It wasn't terrible but once I been into the Boba it tasted warm as if they had just cooked it. Typically, Boba has cooled down and it's got that hard consistency to chew through this one more melted in your mouth and made my tea warm versus cold. The ice pretty much melted that's how I know they probably just cooked the Boba. I would give them a try again because I know I've had them before but today was just didn't have it. Service was great. They were very quick. The place seemed clean and full of people who just wanted to work on their laptops almost like Starbucks. So that has to say something about their Boba being good and maybe it was just not my day. read more

I've been coming to Yi Cha for years and know that I will always have consistent, flavorful, good quality drinks here. Service is friendly and the ambiance is perfect for long study sessions; the staff never miss with their playlists. They have a great menu selection with a good mix of classic and adventurous flavors. I like that they use real taro, and not powder, for their taro drinks, and that they have good cheese foam on the menu. I'm also very picky about boba texture and find that their boba pearls usually always have the perfect amount of chew to it. My personal favorite drink is their Yi Cha Milk Tea, which is their version of house milk tea that they add a bit of butterfly pea to. It gives the drink such a cute little blue hue. Other favorites are the Cheese Foam Green Tea. I tried the matcha latte with crème brûlée cream at Yicha and it was amazing! The matcha itself tasted high quality!! It was rich, earthy, and full-bodied without being overly bitter. The bobarista said the drinks can lean towards the sweeter side, so I went with 25% sugar which was just right, not too sweet, letting the matcha shine through. The crème brûlée cream added a velvety, slightly creamy touch that made the drink extra indulgent. Bonus points for their rewards system! I got the Yi Cha milk tea ($6.25) and added boba (95 cents) for a total of $7.79. I chose 50% sugar because I was feeling indulgent. The boba was warm and slightly chewy at first sip. Driving to my brothers, this place peaked my interest. So I pulled over and tried it. I am very pleasantly surprised with the quality of my drink. I order the honey kumquat tea with 50% sugar. The tea was refreshing and offered a good balance with tea and kumquat flavor. I actually paused after the first sipped and let out an audible "ahh this is nice" The match late with added crème brûlée with 25% sugar. The cashier said their drinks are on the sweeter side. This adjustment was prefect. The brûlée brought in the right amount of richness to soothe out the matcha. Amazing drinks!! I'm very picky with boba places especially because I usually only get matcha which is easy to mess up. Yi Cha is probably my favorite place to get boba in north Houston, and honestly, I prefer it over the other big chains in Bellaire. - Matcha Creme Brulee (4.7/5): The matcha creme brulee is my absolute favorite. It's definitely not traditional Japanese matcha and has the distinctive South East Asian matcha flavor which is slightly floral. The creme brulee is creamy and adds a subtle sweetness that helps balance out the drink. I also like how they swirl it all around the cup so it's evenly distributed and not all on the bottom. However, there are some chunky or grainy bits of creme brulee that kind of disturb the drinking experience. Overall, this drink is refreshing and delicious. - Matcha latte (3.9/5): Decent matcha latte from a boba shop. I like how they usually put a lot of matcha so it's flavorful. It does, however, somewhat taste like Costco matcha, but I'm not complaining. I just think matcha connoisseurs might not rate it so high, but I personally really enjoy this drink. Absolutely Atrocious Service--Zero Stars If I Could! I really wanted to like this place. I really did, but I have genuinely never experienced such an unwelcoming atmosphere in a coffee and tea shop in my life. Visiting Yi Cha- Tea and Coffee was a masterclass in how not to treat customers, and I am still reeling from the sheer rudeness of the experience. The tone was set immediately by the fact that there were five employees visible behind the counter, yet not a single one offered a smile or even acknowledged our presence cheerfully. They were actively uncheerful, making us feel like an enormous inconvenience just for walking through the door. The most shocking part, however, came when we asked for our drinks in ceramic cups. We were flat-out refused. They are nothing but pure bitches! We were told, with an expression of pure, put-upon exhaustion, that they were only using paper cups I guess because so they wouldn't have to clean up after customers. This level of laziness and disrespect is astounding. Even the simplest item was a disappointment. The supposed "fresh" coffee they provided was clearly watered down, tasting thin and stale. It was a perfect metaphor for the entire experience: completely diluted effort and quality. To the staff of Yi Cha: if you hate your jobs this much, perhaps find new employment. You are so fucking rude, unwelcoming, and clearly don't give a shit to any of the very customers who keep your doors open. I would give this place zero stars if the rating system allowed it. Before I even received my food, I started a review draft and selected 5-stars. I don't think I've ever done that before, but I was that confident in Yi Cha's awesomeness. But as you can see, my review is 4-stars. I ordered the boba ice cream, and just didn't love it like I thought I would. I love the boba pop ice cream more than life itself. But this version was a bit on the bland side. The boba was steaming hot and fresh, but beyond that, the ice cream was kind of forgettable. I also ordered the taro bread, because it was sitting in the counter staring at me. It looked interesting, but it was kind of weird. The taro was really grainy. Granted, I think this is just what taro bread is, and not an indictment of Yi Cha. My wife loved her taro boba tea. I didn't. But it wasn't my order. Despite being a bit let down, I wouldn't hesitate to come back and try this place again when we are in the area. The tenderness of their boba is consistent. While the price of the drinks are a tad bit more expensive compared to other places, I do enjoy going there when convenient. The atmosphere nice. You often see lots of people hanging out with their laptops while enjoying their refreshments. They do offer complimentary wifi. The service is quick. They don't ask if you want any adjustments to the ice or sweetness level, so if you're like me where you prefer less sugar, be sure to ask. They also offer a rewards program. They have the best coffee that tastes like Vietnamese coffee meets mocha. They call it Yi Cha Coffee. Definitely recommend that drink if you like Vietnamese coffee. I do wish they have better fruit teas or fruity drink. I had their kiwi and basil one and also the tropical one. Yi Cha is a great place to get your boba fix! Matchaberry Lava (pictured) wasn't really my cup o' tea, as the strawberry syrup was a little overpowering and made it too syrupy. I've ordered the Matcha Crème Brûlée here before and it is good. The brown sugar boba milk is delicious! The cashiers are very friendly and have great recommendations. The shop itself is also very quaint and clean. I really liked the unique drink carrier, I was able to fit it perfectly in my car cup holders this way.
