With these places it comes down to who you get, as all the free beer and shampoos in the world won't win your business. The worst beard trim I've ever had. i had long, full, beard. What I ended up with was an uneven, straightened mess. When Sammy handed me the mirror to see the results I basically went into shock. I did not recognize the person in the mirror. That guy just was not me. It was so bad that I woke up in the middle of the night and basically shaved off my beard. I wish I hadn't tipped him. I was just so overwhelmed with disappointment and regret I didn't quite know what to do. I will definitely not go there again. But if you do, make sure you specify not only what you want, but what you do not want, or your beard might look like a hatchet job once they're done with you. An extra special to Ken for turning my husband into someone that I could fully love again. After four months without a haircut he was starting to resemble an Asian Albert Einstein but one appointment with Ken completely remedied this hairy situation. My husband is immunocompromised so getting a haircut was something we discussed long and hard before making an appointment. Luckily Bearded GOAT took all the precautions to make us feel comfortable with the experience. Everyone was masked up and they only have a certain amount of stylists / customers working at a time in order to limit the amount of people in the shop. My husband has followed Ken from PR at Partners, Floyds Barbershop to here and I've always been impressed with the results. My husband was never one to fork over the $$$ for a professional haircut before but Ken has shown him the other side -- and he always looks great! Totally overpriced. I had a haircut after years of shaving my head. The barber just buzzed it...no attempt to style it into a decent cut. If I just wanted a buzz, I would have gone to a strip mall shop. They seem to cater and give attention to a younger crowd - I will not go back. Yes, I said experience because Coming here is not just haircut, it really is a great experience. He spent actual time trying to understand what I wanted to do with my hair, had great conversation. I love this barber shop. I don't spend a lot on myself, so this haircut is my monthly treat. And buddy, do they deliver. Appointments always start on time. Chill atmosphere with cool decor, the Beastie Boys hardcover book (!!!!) and cold brew coffee to drink. All the barbers I've had cuts from are real Pros and have such incredible attention to detail and customer service. I've had cuts with Eric, Jon, and Ken, and they're all slightly different but all really good and I'll be quick to recommend them. I've followed Eric from his past two barber shops and the guy is awesome. When he shampoos my hair at the end, he is ever so gentle, it reminds me of when i was a small child and my mother shampooed my hair almost as tenderly as Eric does. I followed him along when he left one barbershop and temporarily worked in various barbershops until he and his partners opened the Bearded Goat Barber. Bearded Goat Barber is a very modern, brightly lit barbershop just one block from Ballston metro station. There's always complimentary cold brew coffee and bottled water in the. It's very clean and spacious. They're recruiting some of the best barbers in the area. The entire team is exceptionally hospitable and welcoming. I asked for a haircut that was just a little bit shorter than I already had but he ended up cutting it like it was a grown out buzz cut. It grew on me a little bit, and he definitely was aiming for it to grow out to look like that, I just got it today so I don't know how it's gonna grow out but just beware if you're gonna ask for a haircut, it's gonna be shorter than what you wanted. read more

I walked in to what was clearly an empty barbershop. There were three employees and no customers at the time. I asked for a simple haircut. The fellow behind the register immediately responded that "we are completely booked for the day" and that the earliest appointment they could book me for was Tuesday. Wow, pretty ridiculous when your barbershop is empty on a Sunday afternoon. To top it off, one of the employees was literally sitting in a chair with a smirk on his face looking at me. What rudeness! If you want to book an appointment for an extremely overpriced haircut given by smug hipsters, this is the place for you... My son got a great haircut there, but the barber wasn't wearing a mask. When I asked one of the employees if everyone there was vaccinated, she said "if they aren't vaccinated, they have to wear a mask." I looked around and saw that 3/4 of the barbers were wearing masks. Please do better. Require your employees to all get vaccinated and wear masks. Our family won't be back until we are sure we will be safe there. read more

Been coming here for about 6 months. Great hair cuts from Erik each time. Really friendly and has great music! I think the people that work here enjoy being there. Perhaps the worst haircut i've ever had. I went to Brendan and showed a reference image of a haircut I received a few months ago. What I got was significantly shorter and very very uneven. The fade work was also terrible... The worst part is I paid $60 for this haircut. Let me start by saying I hate having to change barbers! When I find a good barber I stick with them. When I heard Jon was opening near me I went in and tried it out as my last good barber moved so I have been looking for one. There are so few good barbers and the good ones have limited hours so it just sucks. Alas, I was hooked and now I am on a regular schedule here! First, the cut was amazing! Jon took care to listen to what I wanted and did an awesome job. The wash after the cut is really helpful to get out all of the pesky hair that gets itchy and they style you up so you are ready to go when you walk out. No need to rush home to clean up. Secondly, the atmosphere is really nice with the retro color patterns and the modern lines. It is clean, the coffee is awesome, all of the branded products are really cool and they have hair and beard stuff that guys actually use... not the outdated crap from most barbers. Lastly, the price is a little higher than the fly-by-night barbershops in the strip malls but the value is amazing. I've been in the Arlington area for about 3 years now. I've been searching for a barber and have been to a handful of places. The bearded goat, by far, is the best barber shop I've been to. My whole experience from walking in the door, to checking out at the end was easy, friendly, and smooth. Spud Willis gave me an awesome cut, and I highly recommend him. He took his time and really made sure I got what I want. Price doesn't matter for a good haircut, so don't listen to the negative reviews. Had to give this place a try - or rather make the hubby give it a try! I went with because I wanted to check it out as well. First off it's smells amazing inside and it has such a masculine, clean, city vibe to it. That aside the staff is excellent and my very picky husband was thrilled with his clipper and straight razor cut. His biggest love though were the sinks. He says that is his least favorite part about getting a hair cut. He said it was the most comfortable he had ever been in one of those things. So, apparently that is huge! It's a great price for a full service barber which is saying something here in the city. Everything is expensive! Parking during the day is no big deal. There is street parking as well as a garage right around the corner. Give the Bearded Goat a try! read more

The barber who cut my hair was maybe having an off day and did a pretty rough job on my haircut. When I went to have the haircut fixed, I was treated badly and charged again. I think the reason I was treated poorly was that the barber fixing my botched haircut kept finding problems to fix, from the previous haircut, and fixing them. Because of this the manager I guess assumed I was having the barber redo the entire haircut. I in fact didn't as for anything to be done accept fix one part and make it match the rest. Shortsighted on their part, I've been patronizing Bearded Goat for a while - not worth the headache. I paid, with tip, over $70 for the first one and now am out the cost of the second. I'm a healthcare worker at one of the hospitals in the area. On the first day off I had in 2 weeks, I called to see if there was any availability for a haircut and beard trim. I was told that nothing was available but would be put on a waiting list in case someone cancelled. This was completely understandable with such short notice. Not knowing when my next day off would be, I was able to find arrangements at another establishment for later in the day. I received a call just before noon letting me know that there was a spot open and I could be seen if someone cancelled. "Great," I thought. I bolted from home to the barber shop to get my hair cut and beard trim. En route, I called the other establishment to cancel my appointment. I also paid for parking. When I sat down in the chair, the barber asked me what I'd like and when I told him my hair and beard preferences, he quickly cut me off and said, "oh, I only have time for one or the other." I let him know that I been called and that I was told I could be seen-- no conditions on "one or the other". I told them that I paid for parking and had cancelled another appointment to take this one (which had been filled when I called them back). The barber did not appear concerned with the situation the establishment had created. I was extremely frustrated. I lost the appointment at the other establishment and was out for parking-- all because they communicated poorly. Prior to this, I had been ok with the service at the shop. I had been using them since I moved to the area about 8 months ago. However, I'm not willing to return to an establishment that isn't able to communicate and schedule properly.
