When I first started my record collection, I asked my music-loving co-worker where to go and he immediately recommended Hear Again! Located in downtown Gainesville only a few cobblestoned steps from the legendary Hippodrome Theater, Hear Again has a fantastic location in the heart of the city. You'll usually know when the shop is open based on the standing sign that is propped up during business hours! Upon entrance into the store, you're surrounded by some of the greatest tunes to ever be pressed on their various mediums with more genres that you could even count. Hear Again is so wonderfully organized and arranged, there never seems to be a a CD or vinyl out of alphabetical or genre order - talk about arrangement! The wonderful store owner also keeps a running list online of available vinyls, also available on their Instagram page which is updated weekly with new arrivals or sales. My favorite portion of the store? The used records! I've scored vinyls in prime condition for $5 or even less! One of my favorite details about Hear Again? Their COVID practices! Upon entry, you get your temp checked, hands sprayed with alcohol/sanitizer and you are then provided with gloves. I love it!! I could not believe how much the store has expanded over the years, including an annex two doors down that houses thousands of CDs. The amount of inventory here is almost overwhelming in the best possible way. As a music collector, it honestly felt like I had died and gone to heaven. No matter what genre you enjoy, there is an incredible amount to explore. I was especially excited to find a large selection of leftover Record Store Day titles, including two rare releases that I was thrilled to add to my collection. I also came across many original pressings of 1980s LPs and 12" singles, along with a huge number of CDs in the annex, including several out-of-print titles that are becoming increasingly difficult to find. Everywhere I looked, there were hidden gems waiting to be discovered. Atlantic Sounds is the kind of record store where you could easily spend an entire day -- or several days -- browsing and still not see everything they have to offer. I am so glad to see how much they have grown and expanded since my last visit. It remains an absolute paradise for music lovers and collectors.

I've become a regular around this store so much that I've had the pleasure of meeting other great patrons that love vinyl as much as myself. Hanging out here has become a pleasurable service as much as just going to a bar to have a drink with friends. I've learned a great bit and I'm eager to learn and listen to more. I don't have a lot of vinyls but I would definitely buy some from Steve's if I needed them since the pricing seems fair. They also have great wall banners for sale and plenty of CD's. If you're looking for something specific just ask Steve for help because this store is jam packed full of music. Steve was super friendly and informed me if there was something I specifically wanted he could get it for me. I didn't find anything I wanted on this visit; however, the last two times I was here I purchased a few CDs from his clearance shelf for $1 each without a scratch on them, not bad at all. If you are looking for a new, used, or unique vinyl or just want to burn some time checking out a great record store while shopping in DeLand, then I highly recommend stopping in if you're in the area.

In response to the guy who was upset about Music Matters not holding a record for him on Record…read moreStore Day - I too called Music Matters to request that they hold a Record Store Day (RSD) single for me and then mail it, but they explained to me that their RSD contract stated that they could not hold records, and that they would lose the right to get RSD limited edition records if they did. So, as much as I wanted that single, I completely understood their policy. I know now I have to drive to St. Augustine to wait in line! I want to say something else about Music Matters. In an age where record stores are becoming extinct, and online retail overwhelms, Music Matters is not just a music "shop," it is a cool, friendly place to hang out, with people who are knowledgeable, and care about you finding that one record you have been looking for, or turning you on to new music in a favorite genre that you didn't even know about, something that you cannot experience with a computer (sorry Siri). And where else can you immediately buy the music you were jonesing for? Even Amazon hasn't come up with immediate gratification delivery! Check this store out!

Stopped in here after a disappointing visit to another record store in the area…read more We were only there for a short time but a couple of observations led to my 4 star review. 1) the staff was going through a large amount of records right near the front door. I'm not saying that's a negative, it's actually quite a positive. Even through the 3 of them were going through a big collection, they still stopped to help us. The only reason I didn't give this place 5 stars is because of how I personally shop for records. I'm not what you'd call a crate digger. If you are, then you'll love this place. I know there are many, many crate diggers out there. Just wanted to mention it not being my style in case anyone else wanted to know what to expect. We picked up a couple of records while we were there, so it was a good visit. It helped make up for the other place in town that we stopped first.
