While out of town for work I clearly stay away from the "everyday" restaurants. Did some homework and found out The Macon Historic District is hiding some good eats. The ones I tried were all good (shoutout to Piedmont Brewery & Kitchen as well as the Rookery) but my favorite was Bearfoot Tavern! Staff was on top of the game! Attentive but not constantly on top of you. Good beer selection unfortunately they were not fully stocked at the time of my visit. Now the good stuff! The must try is the Brunch Mornin Pie. A wood fired breakfast pizza with sausage gravy, crumbled tater tots, bacon, spinach, jalapeños, two kinds of cheese topped with a fried egg! All of the flavors went well together and the crust was a perfect canvas. Well done! The New Yorker Pizza was decent. No flavors really jumped out for me, but not bad. He short changed my parents over $20, so he made over a $50 tip. I talked with a hostess up front and she was as sweet as can be telling me that's not what they stand for, but one bad apple can ruin the whole group. Even when my parents asked for a manager, he said he was a manager. He was front of the house manager, but I came to find out the owner was actually on premises and he could have grabbed him. I'd rate brunch 5-stars alone! Unfortunately, there are a few other things that leave room for improvement at Barefoot. The service is average and the atmosphere is about the same. Barefoot is a casual bar/restaurant that features a wide variety of craft beers on tap which my husband often enjoys. While they have a full bar, I've yet to order from the not-so-impressive specialty cocktail menu. We often find ourselves at Barefoot for a quick bite and not for drinks or as a local hang-out. A plus, they do have both indoor and outdoor seating! As for the food... I've had the Black Angus and Wild Mushroom Meatloaf which I'd rate as average. Sounds fancy but I'd recommend opting for a brick oven pizza instead, they never disappoint. Finally, what I started with, BRUNCH. I recently tried the Belgian Waffle Tower which consisted of two perfectly cooked waffles, each layered with whipped cream, strawberries and bacon (I went sin granola crumbles). Guadalupe Pizza: don't waste your money. It was over half crust. The actual pizza that was edible was about 6". I got two to three bites per slice. Really feel like it was a complete waste of money. I could give more detail about the taste if I actually had enough to taste. Pathetic. Angus meat loaf: glorified Salisbury steak. I'm not kidding. Even bigger waste of money. The burger was juicy, albeit not very seasoned. We went here for late night eating after a concert. They were just serving pizza at that point but had several varieties. We had the 3 little piggies which is a meat pizza. Very tasty...good crispy, crust to sauce ratio, quality toppings and lots of them. I also had a beer flight of local beers. They have a great local beer selection...jailhouse, creature comfort, Monday night, and even local Macon beers. Love that you can try a few with a flight. They also have lots of tv's for sports. My co workers and I ordered from here on 02/22/2020. I selected the shrimp tacos for $12.00. My coworkers bought the PBLT with fries (3 orders), a salad with salmon, and a cheeseburger with fries (total of 6 orders). Firstly, the bar tender who took the order was very rude. I told her the meal I wanted to order and she said rudely "I have never heard of that." I informed her I was looking at the menu that said barefoot tavern and she repeated herself again. You are probably ordering from an old menu." As I called for my coworker to come and change the order, she asked me, is that all?" I told her to please wait while my coworker and I find something from the most recent menu. Secondly, when the food arrived (we went to pick it up, no door dash or waitr app) I opened my container and found my meal looking like this! I couldn't believe it! $12 dollars for 6 pieces of shrimp, 3 tortillas and BARELY a half if cup of dried rice! Next, I called the store and asked them what was I suppose to expect when I ordered this because SURELY something was left off! The waitress tells me, "oh its 3 tacos but it's small and if you want more you can order a side." On the menu it doesn't offer a side with it like some off the other meals so I thought the meal would be a lot more than what I received. If my coworker had not payed for it I would have returned it after work for a full refund! I want to also mention my coworkers who ordered the PBLT only had what looked like a smear of pimento cheese on their "pita sandwiches", Yes the "pimento", the featured item on the Pimento BLT was barely there! The cheeseburger and salad with salmon was enjoyed with no complaints. Barefoot Tavern please update your online menu, add more pimento to your PBLT, and either lower your price on your shrimp tacos, add more to them (like a side or something) or forewarn your customers on the portion size! Great place, great atmosphere! We had our dog with us so we sat outside in their covered patio area. You can get there(with a dog) through the back alley... which really isn't as bad as it sounds. We sat down and were greeted right away. Our waitress, Leah, was the best! She was very attentive and made our stay very enjoyable. My wife ordered the Cajun Shrimp Pasta which was delicious! I ordered a burger(I cant remember which one), but it was also delicious! The bear menu was plentiful. There was also a cider on tap for those that dont like beer. Our overall experience was awesome. I have eaten here a handful of times and have always been left disappointed. My last visit had me never ordering food from here again. I ordered the Philly cheesesteak and it was awful. I went here last Sunday for brunch. We wanted to order the bottomless mimosas. The waiter quickly and rudely told us they were out of champagne. I then asked if they were offering any other drink specials in place which he sharply replied no. He said the hostess should have told us before she sat us. Bearfoot Tavern has significantly improved their image from their original location on Cherry Street. The new place is across from the Crazy Bull and has a very elegantly decorated facade. I really liked the oversized handle on the door, making it seem like a regal place to be. They serve food, but we were there for the drinks. The selection isn't extensive, but you will have decent options. I normally don't order ciders, but the pear cider they had was phenomenal.
