    BLUF: OK, but Money Cake in Tangram Food Court is better. Bearin Wheel Pie is the second iteration of the food stall in Landmark Quest Mall (most known for hosting Joe's Steam Rice Rolls) that offers Taiwanese wheel cakes, which are pancake-like batter shells with sweet or savory fillings. Bearin's wheel cakes are about 3-inches in diameter, 2.5 inches of that contains filling, with the remainder serves a flat lip. We tried two of their wheel cakes, which were $4 each (including tax): regular custard and matcha. The fillings were lightly flavored, but comparatively lumpier than that from Money Cake in Tangram Mall. The wheel cakes are made to order. Stated wait times are 10 to 20 minutes but our last order took closer to 30 minutes. One can call ahead to place orders in advance. Logistics: - Cash only. - Cell phone signal seems non-existent in that part of the mall; just walk to the front of the mall.

    A hidden gem located in the Landmark Quest Mall serving traditional Taiwanese wheel pies. I've had this spot bookmarked for the longest time, so was super excited to swing by for a snack. There are a ton of different flavors you can choose from, and I ended up getting the Taro. The owner makes everything to order, so there can be a wait - but totally worth it for how fresh and comforting the wheel pie (also not too sweet + amazing texture). Highly recommend adding Bearin Wheel Pie as a spot on your next Flushing food crawl :)

    I really enjoyed it! The flavor with the peanut powder was fantastic, and I can't stop thinking about it after finishing. I visited around noon on a Wednesday. I heard they only make 10, but when I arrived, it was already pre-made in the fridge, so I can't confirm if that's still the case. The only drawback is that it's a bit pricey and not very large; it costs $10 for this item. Would I go back? Yes!!!!

    THE MILK MOCHI IS SOOOO GOOD. I was craving this throughout my trip in NY. Highly recommend. The milk mochi is nice a stretchy, not overly sweet and smooth. The peanut sugar topping seals the deal. However for $10 it is pricey but would order this every time I come to Flushing. It is in a hole in a wall of shops and I was so happy I was able to find this place. I learned about this through TikTok from a creator named Viveca | NYC. So happy I stumbled upon this place before going. The Oreo wheel pie was okay. I think if it was an Oreo cream rather than pieces of Oreo I would have liked it more. I think I just need to try some other flavors next time! Definitely a grab and go area. Very limited seating shared among a few vendors.

    I cheated on my diet for the cream wheel pie; it's delicious and reminds me of the ones I've had in Taiwan. The woman behind the counter is very friendly. She makes the wheel pies fresh, so you'll need to wait around ten minutes. This is not a restaurant, just a food vendor among several others inside a large building. It's definitely worth the wait and the extra ten minutes on the StairMaster.

    Yummy sweet treats located in one of those stores that have a bunch of different stalls. This one is toward the rear of the store. An older lady mans the stall and makes them to order so be prepared to wait! There's a good amount of filling options to choose from as well. Try to eat it fresh or else it'll get a little soggy if you wait too long! The stall also sells slushes. Make sure you have cash because cash only!

    Experience Taste This place got pretty popular due to social media and I really wanted to try it out because these desserts look really special. I ordered two pies - one with sesame and mochi and the other with taro and egg yolk. There is a pink paper hanging right in front that said it would take 8-10 minutes but I ended up waiting 35 minutes. I really wished the cashier notified me of the wait so that I could visit other places instead of standing there for that long. The worst part was that a lady who came 10 minutes after me somehow got her order of 3 pies before mine (she placed her order at the counter/didn't call ahead). If you decide to come, either call ahead or place your order and come back 30 minutes later - my order was bagged after it got off the stove and it was soggy 2 minutes later so it's better if you came back so the pies can cool off. Also I would recommend the taro one - it has more flavor than the sesame one!

    I saw that Bearin Wheel Pie had something called milk mochi on Tiktok so I decided to swing by on the rare occasion I was out in Flushing. I wasn't really sure what to expect, but the milk mochi ($8) was bland, lumpy, and the weirdest texture ever. It came cold, and because of that, it felt like gelatinized cold milk that barely tasted like anything. I had it again later when it warmed up to room temperature and the milk flavor started peeking out, but this is definitely not something I would purchase again. Their wheel pie batter is a little too crispy and hollow for my preference. I like a slightly breadier texture the way Catmint does it. However, Bearin Wheel Pie does have a good selection of flavors ranging from savory to sweet.

    Been slow at following trends and thought moneycake was just ok for the $$$. This is run by a super nice lady. The double filling is $4.50 compared to $6 and I thought was way tastier.

    Delicious and worth the wait! I'll be back for more. :) I tried the custard and boba combo and it wasn't sweet. The perfect treat for a cold or hot day. ;)

    It's pretty normal. Maybe choosing the cream filling is not the best choice since it's dễ ngán. The place is located in a food market in a small building so there isn't a lot of space. And it takes quite a long time to make one. Cash only.

    The Wheel Pie is a pretty efficient food delivery system. The enclosed "pie crust" itself is a cross between a smooth pancake and waffle like texture of crispy on surface, but light and soft on the inside. The filings can vary from sweet (which in this case is not very "sweet" at all - something I appreciate about most Asian desserts. They don't overload you will sugary sweetness) to savory. I mainly had the sweet ones. I found that the filing was less creamy custardy texture, but rather had a little more substance to them - perhaps more of a starch base? I tried the black sesame and matcha ones. I would have liked those flavors to be more pronounced, but it was a tasty treat nonetheless. They reheat well (Toaster oven set for 250 degrees for 10 min made them crispy and warm) Red Bean, Taro, Matcha, Cream, Oreo and Black Sesame are the usual fillings. They also have special fillings such as Taro with Egg Yolk; Radish with Mushroom; Matcha with Red Bean; Red Bean with Mochi and Corn with Cheese. The price went up $.50 as of August 1st. They also have other treats such as smoothies and "slush". Bearin Wheel Pie is hidden within a subdivided mall (Landmark Quest Mall according to Yelp) , which is common for the area, but it made me wonder how people found these great places prior to sites like Yelp guiding the way.. hmmm..

    PSA: cash only! We stopped by here to try the Wheel Pie -- unfortunately they were just opening up and it took almost 30 minutes to get our pies after ordering. While the lady made our order soon after we placed our order, she also made everyone else's (who ordered after us) all at the same time, so our order was not ready until everybody's was ready. I get that it's a single person running the stand, but it definitely made for a not-great experience waiting around for everyone's order to be ready. There are wheel pies that have the typical sweet fillings (taro, matcha, red bean, etc), but there are also options with savory fillings. We ordered 1 taro and 1 matcha and both fillings were tasty. The wheel pies tasted pretty good, though one of our pieces opened up from the side when we tried to eat it, so just be prepared that it can get messy! All in all, it's a nice shop (inside the same food court as Joe's Steam Roll) and the novelty of the wheel pie which you don't really find in the States is worth a visit, but be prepared for a wait (unless nobody else is around). They also had other dessert options which others talk about which I might want to come back and try.

Even though this vendor sells tacos pequeño (small tacos, 2-3 bites), they are $3-4 each, which is not cheap. For that reason, I can't give them 5 stars. It's quite pricey considering that most full size tacos are selling for about $4.50-5.50 nowadays on the streets, but double in size. With that said, I appreciate the smaller size for me to enjoy more variety every time I stop by. My favorites change from visit to visit, but generally I always get Suadero (roast meat), Campechano (roast meat & sausage), Buche (pork stomach), Cabeza (beef head), and Lengua (beef tongue). I also like the extra weird parts like Cesos (beef brain) and Ojos (beef eye). However, the texture is very mushy and definitely not for everyone. As accompaniments, for every two tacos you order, they also give you a long stem onion that is quite tender and delicious. On the down side, instead of the traditional lime and radish that most places give, Tacos El Borrego offers lemon and cucumbers. I'm not sure why, except maybe they are cheaper options than the normal garnishes. Also, don't forget the flavorful green and red sauces on the table if you are eating there. Otherwise, ask for some to go. I miss the days when our group of friends would get a few tacos late at night after a party or night out drinking. The prices are no longer the same, but the food is still perfect for sobering up while having some laughs on the streets during the warm months. I think back to those days fondly whenever I'm at a taco stand nowadays, and Tacos El Botrego is one of my favorites in NYC.

I had read about Oaxacan tlayudas, large crisp tortillas coated with a layer of mashed black beans and sprinkled with savory toppings, while trip planning, and I was intrigued. I noticed the Sr. San Pablo cart advertising tlayudas when I was at Corona Plaza a few weeks ago, and prioritized a return visit. Since then, I've tried a steak taco and the combination meats tlayuda, and both were delicious. The steak taco had juicy and well-seasoned meat, a flavorful tortilla, and amazing spicy sauce. The tlayuda was large enough for 2-3 people to share. In addition to the large base tortilla and bean spread, the combination variety had chorizo, steak, and seasoned pork (the best) for the meats, stringy Oaxacan cheese, tomato, and avocado. There were red and green salsas and escabeche pickles available for garnishes. I would have liked a little lime to add some sparkle to all of the savory flavors. There are 4 small stools and a covered table next to the cart to sit and eat, but I can't imagine it'd be a fun experience in bad weather. Definitely check this place out.

Instead, walk 10-15 minutes south on Kissena Blvd and you will find a group of street vendors gathering nightly on the sidewalk right in front of Gold City Supermarket. On a beautiful night, you'll find many people camping out on the ledge of the supermarket parking lot, or even putting out picnic blankets, while enjoying various street foods they can find at this great little "food fest". The street vendors are from different regions of China and serves all sorts of yummy goodies. You can find lots of fried items, soup noodles, grilled skewers, marinated meats and veggies, desserts, etc. One of my favorite stalls is the vendor selling hand torn shredded chicken ($25 each), which they dress up in seasoning and spices. They use an older chicken that has a firmer texture that won't fall apart when tearing the meat. The flavor is wonderful and absolutely addictive. They even give you a frequent buyer card that gets you a free chicken when you reached six purchases. The same stall also sells marinated items that are quite good. You are allowed to mix and match as long as they have the same price point. Another stall I would recommend is the stinky tofu stall. There are often more than one, but I like the one with the longest table space only dedicated to this single product, often in the middle of the block. If you have never tried this delicacy, close your nose and give it a go. You may be pleasantly surprised. Other stands that are popular include the BBQ grilled meats over charcoal, where you can get $2-3 skewers of lamb, beef, chicken wings, and whole lot more. Also, if you see the man grilling whole squids, his stuff is quite tasty too. Bottom line, it's a fun evening hanging out with your friends and snacking on various yummy bites. Be brave and try something new. Though there are few English signs, just order what looks good. Find a day with nice weather and check it out soon.
