Chocolate (with Peanuts) Baked Cheese Tart: Take-out
    Harris L.

BLUF: Good for those who like a combination of sweet and savory flavors in one dessert. Hokkaido Cheese Tarts mainly offers variations on one product -- cheese tarts. Hokkaido's tarts have a uniformly hard, thick, dry, slightly crispy crust, with filings that are soft and slightly salty. The Salted Caramel is probably the best fit for a cheese tart. The sharp, salty nature of the cheese filings didn't seem to pair with the other flavors we tried -- Chocolate, Ube, Matcha. Despite inflation raising prices for nearly everything, pricing for Hokkaido cheese tarts has held, starting at $4.25 plus tax for one tart. Discounts may be had for those who order more. For us, Hokkaido's cheese tarts were interesting to try, but once.

These Hokkaido cheese tarts were pretty yummy. The crust was buttery and hard while the inside was gooey and creamy - a wonderful combo. They were not too sweet and each flavor was recognizable through its taste. 6 of them were $23. My favorite was the matcha one!

Open only saturdays and sundays with a plethora of flavors to choose from. I think they've recently added cakes to their menu as well! The cheese tarts are made from Hokkaido milk which is well known for being smooth and creamier than any other kind of milk. I've heard so much about it so I was really excited to give it a try. Unfortunately while the center of the tarts were indeed gooey (when warmed up), the tart itself was hard as shortbread but a lot drier. Only their creme Brûlée egg tart is not made with that hard crust and a flaky crispy delicate pastry. I really wish all the egg tarts were made that way. When I got my tarts they were definitely not warm so the center wasn't even melty as I had expected, though I'm not sure if they just cooled down super fast in the time it took for my friend and I to leave, get some other snacks, and sit down and crack them open. When cool the center was kinda like a lighter pudding/thicker mousse consistency whereas when heated it was like the melty center of a basque cheesecake. I've tried ube, chocolate, salted caramel, and the creme brûlée egg tart and the chocolate is a lovely medium to dark chocolate flavor reminiscent of the Godiva chocolate mousse cheesecake from Cheesecake Factory. It's topped with peanuts if I'm not mistaken. Salted caramel had a caramel center that you'd only find when you bite into it and topped with Frosted Flakes and caramel drizzle. Ube was well ube It's 4 for 12 and I ordered three and dumbly forgot a fourth would've made my total less. I wish the girl at the register had mentioned it to me but she didn't say anything and just rung me up. Can't say I'll be back (unless it's for the tiramisu ice cream but their ice cream machine was never working whenever I had gone in in the past soooo)

Wanted to go for a walk and found that this place is new so why not walk here? Small take out shop for cheese tarts. Remind me of egg tarts. It's right across from Forever 21. Got 6 for $23, which I believe is a bit pricy for their size as they are one the smaller end but then again, I'm also use to chinatown prices for egg tarts. The cream part is soft and flavorful and the crust is hard but not enough to break a tooth or anything. Got all the flavors (original, matcha, strawberry, blueberry, salted caramel, and mango) they had except chocolate. The fruity ones taste very much like candy. Salted caramel, original and matcha were solid. I split each one with my sister and thought we thought they were delicious. I would go back if I had a craving.

I really liked these cheesy egg tarts, with a Japanese flare. Purchased a half dozen in different flavors I really like the Ube flavored cheese tart, as wasn't as dense or heavy and has a subtle Ube taste that I really enjoyed. The Matcha tart was also good, but would prefer more of that green tea flavor. Salted Caramel was a bit messy fell apart after my first bite. Place is small without much place to sit, so its best to purchase and go. It's about $4 per tart- kind of pricey for a dessert snack that could be consumed within a couple of bites. Overall, good tart experience

Hokkaido Cheese Tart makes very creamy and delightful cheese tarts! I ordered salted caramel, matcha, and original. Original was definitely my favorite due to the simplicity of the flavor. The flavor is inspired by Hokkaido dairy and it definitely come through in the tart. The salted caramel was also very good! Not overly sweet, but very messy to eat. The tarts are $4.25 each which is kind of pricey for the size. But it's worth the novelty of the pastry because you can't get anything close to Hokkaido dairy here in America. Their cheese tart is a perfect pick me up!

When there is no parking, I have to go to this garage Anyways, there is a baked cheese tart shop right on the corner after exiting! There are mini baked cheese tarts with different types- ube, hokkaido cream, matcha, cookies n cream, I don't remember the rest. I got hokkaido cream, matcha and chocolate. I was careless with the cute little box it comes in and it toppled over (in photo) but that's on me lol. HOKKAIDO CREAM/CHEESE IS YUMMY. That is all.

We got the ginger milk pudding. Do think it's a bit pricey ($10) since it's an easy dessert to make but I guess it's all the theatrics. They pour the dessert in front of you and put a sand glass on top. Once sand glass is done, so is the dessert and you can even rest a spoon on top. The dessert is very smooth, barely a solid, and its ginger taste is very strong- which I like. Strong ginger but pairs well with the milk and good amount of sugar. It is a bit spicy but I like it this way. They do have a lot of other desserts as well as savory items on the menu. Intrigued by their savory menu and will definitely come back to try them next time.

My son, wife, and friends were also enjoying their sweets. This is a great place. They have seats, but it gets really busy and there is usually a bit of a wait. Yet that is not a bad thing. Lighter flavor but the floral flavor does come out at the end of a bite. Coconut milk jelly: the lightest of the flavor but still sweet and flavorful enough to come through. There's a dusting of graham crackers and strawberry jelly to complement. We also got a hot matcha jasmine latte but it was actually cold.
