Later that night I was telling a friend how much tires had gone up. He told me he just replaces all 4 of his wives tires for $400. I looked up that size on Google. I could have done the job at about $400 nearly anywhere. I drove 20 miles to get ripped off. Never again. Any place else I would have checked prices. The bodyshop quoted me two weeks for their repair, and I added the request for the tires later, so I expected a longer delay until the car would be returned, but it was still done on time, which told me that Bear's is efficient and trustworthy. I would give 6 stars if I could. One of my tires has been losing air pressure pretty quickly and needed either a patch or to be replaced. The mechanic I typically go to (Mira Mesa Auto Techs, check em out) referred me to Bears Tires. So maybe I already was biased towards trusting Bears before actually going in but it turns out Bears is really great too! I called ahead of time to see how busy it was and the staff who answered said max 30 minutes. After going in and waiting for ~10 minutes one of the mechanics came into the waiting room and asked if I knew where the tire tool (wheel lock tool) was. Nope. So I headed back to work, called my husband, found the wheel lock tool (hidden away at the bottom of the glove box, in a little black zipper case), called Bears and they were like "Come on back!" They patched my tire quickly and I was back at work in 20 minutes. And they didn't charge, which caught me off guard entirely, as I had felt bad for wasting their time at the first visit by not knowing where the necessary tool was. Could have been better, I came for the 5 stars ratings but I did not feel that experience. They unfortunately don't do any reservation system so when they tell you it's not too busy and once you arrive there, it can be a whole different situation. I had to wait almost two hours to get new tires replaced. If you have work commitments, this is definitely not a place to get your car needs addressed in a timely manner. I learned that the hard way. I'd stick to somewhere else where they do appointment based. I can't just sit and wait forever especially once you check in, they didn't allow me to leave the premise either else I'd lose my spot in the line. This was my first and probably last visit to Bear's Tires. Looking by all the 5 star reviews they had I thought the service would be great, but this was not the case with my visit. I walked in last Saturday wanting to get my tires mounted and balanced on my wheels. Walked up to the counter and told them that's what I wanted to get done, and that I had brought my own new wheels and tires. Guy there took down my info and said "there's two people in front of me" that's it.. and yet it took them 2 hours to get it done. On top of that I wasn't even given a quote of how much it would cost. In my two hours of waiting they had another customer drive in with a car get service done and cashed out before me. Unreal... Not to mention the guy who mounted my tires looked like he had some difficulty and I saw him constantly asking for help from his coworkers. Maybe his skill/technique was lacking that day? He seemed like a nice guy, but man it was painful to watch him put tires on. Also, whatever mounting paste they put on the tires to install them is a pain in the butt to remove. In the past other tire shops used a mixture of soap and water or something water soluble that after a car wash the residue would just rinse off. NOPE! not with Bear's Tires. I spent a good 3 hours cleaning my new wheels and tires and then having to go back with a degreaser and WD40 in order to get 90% of that gunk off or else it would just flake off all over the place. Was able to get a very good used tire for $44 out the door. I was here as soon as they opened at 8:30am. I took away a star because I feel as though service was extremely slow for a tire change. I was the 2nd person there and I saw that they pulled in another car for perhaps a friend. Either way it took over an hour. Terrible... There is really no way to give a 1-Star on yelp? Long story short, I came in around 8:35am this morning and left a little after 10am with nothing done to my car. Reasoning for my visit is because I had a nail in my rear left tire. As soon as I got to the counter, I told the guy my situation, they jotted down my information, and said "can we get your keys and we will have it right up." In my head, I'm thinking.. wow thats quick... I am in no rush whatsoever too since it's a morning of errands but 30-45 mins passed and I noticed they haven't checked on my car or even pulled it into the shop. 1 1/2 hrs passes and they finally came out to my car and looks at the puncture and tells me... "depending on the angle of the nail puncture, it may or may not be repairable. If it's not repairable we can only offer a brand new tire. I am not going to buy just one brand new tire if all things fail lol. This could have been mentioned when I first arrived so I could've just went on my way to another shop. Terrible service and hardly any seating for their customers.. **Also, to top it off, they have "face mask required" posted all over, yet they allowed service to an individual with no mask and allowed this person to wait right in front? Lol, really. The door literally says if you don't have a mask, stay in your car and give us a call so we can come to you. As much as I don't like wearing my mask just like everyone else, I only do it because it's required to receive the service and there were other customers around, so I'm just being considerate and mindful. Basically, they're allowing people without masks inside and outside of the premises. *WOULD NOT RECOMMEND* read more

Great place to get tires installed! I get all my tires installed here for all my vehicles. I have a fleet of 5 vehicles i bring here every couple of years for tire installation and balance. I appreciate the service quality this establishment provides. They have good techs that work hard not to scratch your expensive rims. I made a point to them to be careful on the machine so my rims wouldn't get damaged. I have had bad luck, other tire shops and even the dealer caused damage to my vehicles rims. I got a flat tire a couple days ago and knew Bears Tires was reliable and inexpensive. I had previously purchased all four of my Nissan's tires from them. I limp into the shop on a donut and ask if they can possibly patch the flat, but if not I'll just need a new tire. 45 minutes later, the gentleman helping me popped into the waiting room and told me we're all set. They welcome walk ins and I was out I if there in less than an hour. They do free balance, rotations and tire patching. there is a yelp $10 off. 9/4/2020 My tire light came on and wouldn't turn off even after I filled all my tires. So I brought it in. My left rear sensor was not working and had to be replaced. I was in and out in less than 30 minutes. BEST CUSTOMER Service Ever. I highly recommend this place to get your tires. Bear's Tires is the ONLY San Diego-based tire shop my family will use from now on. At the risk of sounding overly dramatic, Bear's Tires restored my faith in people and businesses in the automotive sales and repair sectors--this includes used car salespeople, mechanics, and tire shops. Let me explain.... About a year ago, one of my tires started losing air. It was a slow leak, and this was the first set of tires on my car, which had only 15,000 miles on it at the time. At a service appointment at Marvin K. Brown, we asked if they could patch the tire. We received a very detailed, elaborate reason why they could NOT patch the tire. The service professional at Marvin K. Brown claimed that there was a nail very close to the rim and that the nail was placed at an angle, rendering it impossible to remove. He suggested that we might want to replace the tire. He gave a lot of mumbo jumbo explanations and justifications, but that was the gist of it. Replacing the tire seemed silly, since the premium Michelin tires were still relatively new and since the leak was very slow. We decided to just add air to the tire every few weeks, and we did this with no problem until two days ago. Two days ago, we went to add air to the leaky tire because it was at 28 psi and the other 3 tires were at 33 psi. This time, something was not quite right with the valve and air escaped through the valve but could not be pumped in. The tire pressure went down to 22 psi after we tried to add air. Thinking that it might be a faulty air pump and not a faulty tire valve, we drove to the next gas station to pump air in the tire. Unfortunately, the same thing happened, and the tire pressure dropped to an unsafe 17 psi. Yesterday, we removed the tire and put on the spare tire so that we could drive to get a replacement tire. When we removed the leaky tire, we noticed that the nail was NOT near the rim nor was it at an angle! It was on the outside of the tire, smack in the middle of the tread and perfectly perpendicular. It could have and should have been easily patched a year ago, before the 25+ trips to the air pump that may have damaged the tire valve! I drove (without an appointment) to Bear's Tires yesterday, figuring I would need to get a new tire (since the valve was broken and since I had been driving on the tire for a year with a nail in it). Costco typically needs to order tires, so I would have had to wait a few days, and Bear's Tires had great Yelp reviews. When I arrived as a "walk-in," to Bear's Tires, I was greeted by Manny. Manny examined the damaged tire and confirmed that there was only one nail. He said that it was fixable, even with the broken valve. Less than 30 minutes later, Victor had 1) patched the tire; 2) replaced the valve with a new valve; 2) installed the repaired tire; 3) inflated ALL FOUR tires to manufacturer's specifications (35 psi)! I was thrilled, and I whipped out my card to pay and check out. Jose was putting together my invoice, and when he was done, he handed it to me with a zero balance and said, "No charge. This is on me." Thank you, Jose, Victor and Manny, for your amazing customer service and your honesty. We will be buying all of our new tires from Bear's Tires for our 3 vehicles. read more

Turns out my tire could not be patched so they were so kind to change out my spare and I came back when the tire I needed arrived after they ordered it. It's not fancy but all you want is great service and good pricing. I believe Matthew helped me and he was so kind. Gave me the choice between a matching tire and one that was more affordable.
