I decided to stop by this shop a few months ago to get a quote for a tire alignment. Based on their above 4.5 star review on Yelp, I had high expectations, but my experience was the complete opposite. When I walked in, there were two men behind the desk chatting and laughing. As soon as I asked about their pricing for an alignment, the atmosphere shifted instantly. It felt like I had interrupted a private party I wasn't invited to. One of the men rudely snapped that it would be $150 per tire--a price that felt like it was pulled out of thin air just to get rid of me. His attitude made it very clear that my business wasn't wanted, so I promptly left. Seeing that others have had similar encounters of being treated rudely by some of the people working here, confirmed that my experience was not a one-off event. I scheduled an air-bag assisted suspension install with Five Star: Daniel estimated my project, and Tony scheduled my appointment (they were swamped!). I told Jim I would write a review on yelp based on the service I received at Five Star Automotive. I recent got my 2010 Audi A4 serviced at the dealership and they told me that the tires were abnormally worn. They quoted me about $950 for the tires and $200 for an alignment. Flabbergasted by the price, I decided to purchase a new set from tirerack.com. I decided to get them mounted at Five Star Automotive because it had over 50 positive reviews on tire rack and great reviews on yelp. My tires were shipped and received by Five Star the day after my purchase. I called the shop and confirmed that the tires were received and scheduled an appointment to get them mounted the same day. I sat and waited in their lounge and talked to Jim and Tony. Let me just say that they have an interesting relationship to say the least and Jim is hilarious. The job took about two hours and I was eager to get home and beat the traffic. When I got on the freeway, I noticed that the car was still pulling slightly to the right. Once I got home, I looked at the tires and noticed that ALL FOUR of my rims had been scratched. I was FURIOUS at this point. They assured me that they take their time, so things would be done right. This was definitely not the case. I called Tony immediately after and told him about the situation. He told be to go back and he will look at them. Several days had passed and my anger had settled down a bit. I got back to five star and talked with Jim about the situation. They looked at the rims and they inspected their tire mount. The goose neck on the tire mount had worn out and broke while the service technician was working on my car. They assured me that they will repair the rims properly and would refund me back if I was not completely satisfied. I left the car with them for about 6 hours and got a call back to pick up the car. I looked the rim repair and it looked BETTER than before! They did an amazing job and I was very impressed. I wanted to give them 4 stars, but their customer service is above and beyond. I will go back to Five Star for future tire fittings, but I'm definitely going to ask about the condition of their goose neck before I hand them the keys. read more

Not only did they properly diagnose the issue but Jim the service manager used his contacts at GMC to research the warranty for me and get the work done at GMC the next day for free. Caveat Emptor! Buyer Beware! Stay away from this shop, take your business elsewhere. I was looking for a reasonable price for an oil change on my 4 door sedan. They have a huge sign outside that says $9.99. I guess this only applies if you drive a Vespa moped because they quoted me $45!!! And when I balked at that they guy at the front desk sarcastically says, "You have a nice day!" I felt awful for the elderly woman in the waiting room having her car worked on. I can only imagine what they were robbing this poor woman of. The shop was empty with the exception of this lady's car in the bay. There were about 6 technicians hanging out, the all looked like they'd just got out of San Quentin, were talking on their cell phones and smoking cigarettes outside. Very very shady looking! Great shop. Jim and Danny (their Master Technician) are the only ones I let work on my 1966 Ford Mustang. Great job troubleshooting and repairing an old car. Jim and Tony look out for their customers and will call around to find the best deal on repair parts. This is the only place I take both my Mustangs and the rest of my cars. He didn't sound apologetic or anything and I felt like I wasn't welcome there. They also quoted me $69.99 for a 4-wheel alignment and I'm glad I didn't do it. This place is great, I've had them do lots of work on lots of my cars. My food truck would not be on the road without them. They are always friendly and helpful, and their quotes are always honest. I've never had any issues with their repairs. My '68 Cadillac is in the shop right now, getting new tires, a new spare tire and rim, a transmission leak repair, new brakes, a rear axle repair, and they are upgrading my car with a new electronic ignition. Took my car back again, and again Jim and the crew perform at level above all else! I been to them in their old location and am lucky when I moved they ended up near me again. I had shocks/struts replace TWO years ago... and they seemed to have issues. I purchased a Groupon special for oil changes for my son. Each time that he has called to schedule an oil change there's always a problem. The first question is always "Are you using the coupon?" I feel. Like whether I'm using one or not I should be able to get a timely appointment. Today he called to schedule one today and was told the soonest appointment would be Aug 3rd. I called back to ask why & was told they can only honor 4 coupon appointments per day. I will never purchase another Groupon for this place. I'll stick to this company on Midway that has no problem scheduling same day appointments with the oil change coupons. read more

This auto repair shop i will not hesitate to recommend. The technicians are all very experienced and know very well everything about automotive issues and they work amazingly fast! I had my car a/c problem that two other shops failed to diagnose and repair resulting in so much expense on "diagnostic" charges and endless refrigerant fillings, but FIVE STAR AUTO was able to accurately point out the problem.
