Solid donuts. Not too thick and cakey which I like. However, they are pricey and the selection is small.

    Yummy donut case

Yummy donuts - they have a very wide selection of them, all lovingly made fresh everyday. The staff are so nice and pleasant to interact with as you choose your donuts. Great place to get a sweet treat.

    Where's the vanilla filling?!?

Second year in a row of major disappointment with Bearscat Bakehouse Minot. Ordered a Bavarian Cream Donut cake last year for my husband's birthday and ended up with decor on it that was unrecognizable (no photo). Tried again this year, only to cut into the cake at the Birthday Party and find only a smear of vanilla. So embarrassing.... Bearscat PSA: #StopMakingCakes

Donuts were good! Ordered a box for my family, and they were all very different. I am giving it four stars because they were very good, but also not specific to Bearcat. I feel like you could replicate this taste pretty easily at other donut shops.

My partner and I were about to embark on our road trip to Minneapolis but we needed to stop by the base beforehand. We decided to get a box of donuts (or should I say... bearscat?) so we could have a tasty, sweet treat to keep up awake and excited. We arrived fairly late in the day (afternoon) but we arrived about two hours before closing. Perhaps due to the timing of our arrival, they didn't have a lot of their flavors out, but still enough to make a variety box. There was a girl working the counter and she was quite friendly. I loved their Bearscat cake donut, it was a heavenly chocolate flavor but not too cakey! Pro tip: dip it into hot chocolate, just trust me! I did happen to notice they didn't taste as fresh as other homemade donuts I have tried, and I read that they use frozen dough. Regardless, they are still above decent donuts.

We got a coffee, apple fritter, maple bacon bar and chocolate Bavarian donut. You have a choice going through drive-thru or inside. Went inside, customer service is good. Coffee was good and hot. Apple fritter, chocolate Bavarian donut, and maple bacon donut was good. I liked the apple fritter best, not too oily and fresh. For this establishment, Minot has a good place to stop for your taste buds.

    Drive thru menu

I really enjoy going to local places, and we thought we would try Bearscat Bakehouse. I thought it would be a good donut and coffee stop. But I was wrong on bother levels. The menu is limited, which is understandable given a small donut shop. However, it turns out, coffee just comes from a machine - you know - the kind at a gas station? So I became less impressed since half the menu is coffee type drinks. Additionally, the donut selection was slim. I asked if they had any cake donuts, and she said yes - one was their trademark Bearscat so I was super ready. When I opened the box, I was disappointed to not find a cake donut - instead it was a French donut. Which for those who don't know - is like a cake donut but more fried like the other donuts. The person we ordered from had to write down each donut we ordered (only 4, with two being the same) and seemed really confused by everything. She was also annoyed that we didn't already know their specialties or filled donuts. I mean, they aren't on the menu and we are in a drive thru with no visual context of the shop. The plus is that they have a drive thru which is what allows this place to be 2 stars. Just be careful because it is narrow. I imagine it's not great during the winter. Also, we were really confused that there is a random location in Oregon? The rest made sense regionally. But how do you get Oregon from North Dakota area??

The best donuts I've ever had, no lie. My favorite place to get a donut, even if 1$ does seem pricey for a single donut it's so worth it

You absolutely cannot show up an hour before close and expect a full case, or even that day's lunch offer, (which I never order anyway.) Personally, I love that for 2 reasons: less food waste & it motivates you to get there before they run out. With that out of the way, on to the "good stuff" & I do mean that both literally & figuratively. I'll note they are listed as French pastries, this is important, as it sets an expectation comparatively to, say, the local donut shop/ the other "bread (pastry) shop" - &, they are very different styles, indeed. Humble brag moment, International traveler here & I've had the pleasure of some amazing pastries. These guys do fit the French-style that they're boasting about. They made a solid almond croissant & have some tasty savory rotations, as well as sweet. Their crepes are my favorite eat-out breakfast item in town. They offer both sweet & savory options, another bonus, as I'm a savory gal. In short, i probably don't go here as often as I should

We had a flaky pastry with cheese and egg - excellent and not too heavy! We also had their last caramel cream filled crumpet - also excellent and it is filled so plan how you eat it. Everything else looked so good, including their bakery bread, that I wanted one of each but was pretty sure that would not have worked traveling. The place was nothing special (yet) but it was clean and had cute tables and chairs as well as counter seating for when it gets busier. It also had parking around the building AND a drive through window (for those familiar with the bakery choices or just wanting a beverage). I was not in on the initial encounter with the counter person but my husband wasn't thrilled with the interaction. Not sure which side of the counter the breakdown occurred but it is true that she didn't smile or seem to want to be there and was a bit curt when asked to warm our egg pastry. The manager stepped in immediately to make sure our pastry was warmed in an oven for a minute. (They, THANKFULLY don't use microwaves which was fine by me.) It was perfect. If ever I'm in Minot, I'll make a point of coming here with a much bigger appetite!

Imagine my surprise, no, shock, when he replied "you know where I work" when I sent him a happy birthday message & asked if he'd like me to drop off cookies / cupcakes like the old school days. As his mom, I knew immediately that was a "yes" in code. I also knew that I was unprepared & had a 2hr lunch to make it happen or break his wee little heart after 17yrs of being told no by him. I wasn't ABOUT to let that happen. I grabbed my keys & darted to cookies to for you, with a 1 block loop, I was even able to snag a spot directly in front of the store. I went in, explained that I'm a terrible mother or maybe I have a terrible kid. Either way, I need to deliver birthday cookies/cupcakes/memories & be back at work in 87min. Without visible judgment passed & with a nod of understanding, I was presented 2 ready made options at $40ea. I went with the gold print 7 cookie + candy bouquet - (vs the multicolored print) to match the gold foil 3 & 0 balloons (the balloons were apparently NOT an approved item & did not pass the embarrassment test) that I stopped for en route & tied to the basket.
