As if that wasn't enough, when the government shutdown was happening, they offered completely free grab & go breakfast bags. If you needed to eat, you could just pick up a pre-made bag. No need to order it, or ask... just pick it up from the designated area - no questions asked. Buying a full dozen? They gave you a token to pass to someone of your choice for redemption of a dozen at no additional cost. I ordered donuts 24hr in advance and when went to pick up my order had to have substitutes because not all of them were available anymore. When I contacted the manager to ask why it was listed as available if that was not the case I was rudely informed that they are all available 24hrs but obviously that is not the case. I asked why was I not contacted about the change to my order and she said that they don't call people first thing in the morning however, if they knew I had ordered something that they were out of why not make them for the order? read more

My partner and I were about to embark on our road trip to Minneapolis but we needed to stop by the base beforehand. We decided to get a box of donuts (or should I say... bearscat?) so we could have a tasty, sweet treat to keep up awake and excited. We arrived fairly late in the day (afternoon) but we arrived about two hours before closing. Perhaps due to the timing of our arrival, they didn't have a lot of their flavors out, but still enough to make a variety box. There was a girl working the counter and she was quite friendly. I loved their Bearscat cake donut, it was a heavenly chocolate flavor but not too cakey! Pro tip: dip it into hot chocolate, just trust me! I really enjoy going to local places, and we thought we would try Bearscat Bakehouse. I thought it would be a good donut and coffee stop. But I was wrong on bother levels. The menu is limited, which is understandable given a small donut shop. However, it turns out, coffee just comes from a machine - you know - the kind at a gas station? So I became less impressed since half the menu is coffee type drinks. Additionally, the donut selection was slim. I asked if they had any cake donuts, and she said yes - one was their trademark Bearscat so I was super ready. When I opened the box, I was disappointed to not find a cake donut - instead it was a French donut. Which for those who don't know - is like a cake donut but more fried like the other donuts. The person we ordered from had to write down each donut we ordered (only 4, with two being the same) and seemed really confused by everything. She was also annoyed that we didn't already know their specialties or filled donuts. I mean, they aren't on the menu and we are in a drive thru with no visual context of the shop. The plus is that they have a drive thru which is what allows this place to be 2 stars. Just be careful because it is narrow. I imagine it's not great during the winter. Also, we were really confused that there is a random location in Oregon? The rest made sense regionally. But how do you get Oregon from North Dakota area?? read more

Very happy with the quality and freshness of the donuts we got today (first visit). Good ingredients, cooking was consistent. Friendly service. The place was clean and professional looking - sometimes those traits are not found at donut shops. We'll definitely stop there again and look for their other stores as we travel. The only thing we found off-putting was the name, Bearscat Bakehouse. I don't care if that's what cowboys called donuts. Best donuts in Minot. Not much else to say, they don't serve anything else, there's no dining area to speak of and they do a brisk business primarily in the mornings. Note: They only make a set amount for the day and when they sell out, they close. If you want to be sure you get a variety to pick from you will need to plan an early morning visit. They are often sold out and closed by early afternoon. Also: they do sell a variety pack at Cash Wise grocery store, but your selection may be limited and while they are still good, they are not as good as buying them fresh from the bakery direct. read more

I'm just visiting Minot and heard about this place on the Iocal news. Who can resist freshly made donuts? Anyways, I made a last minute stop here a few days ago with my grandma in the early afternoon to see what their selection was. They had about 10 or 12 different varieties at the time as it seems some have sold out since the morning so it's probably best to come early. What was left was still very good though. We ended up getting their most popular, which was a maple bacon bar, a few plain maple, striped chocolate, old fashion and also what I think was a raspberry jelly filled donut. Everything was really tasty and fresh. I loved the chewy texture and it was hard not to eat more than one in a single day. We ended up eating them over three days actually and they tasted just fine on the 3rd day without suffering from dryness. The staff was also very pleasant with assisting with recommendations. The family and I road tripped in from Phoenix, Az to visit our college athlete at Minot State. The girls were craving a donut for breakfast and we didn't see any standard chain bakery in town. It was just our luck that Bearscat Bakehouse was newly opened and just across from the campus. The donuts were hot and fresh and tasted oh so good. I can see this business taking off! My family and I were picking an assortment of specialty donuts and my father was a little disappointed that they were sold out of their blueberry donuts. From out of town and just happened to stop in here on a Tuesday afternoon. They had a nice selection of classic and fun donuts. Nothing overly trendy or anything, but lots to choose from. Both the raised and cake varieties were had good flavor a classic donut texture. We tried a half dozen donuts or so and were happy with all the ones we sampled.
