    Philly Cheesesteak and onion rings
    Ed H.

We stopped in for lunch and sat creekside. We enjoyed the view and the covered porch provided shelter from the thunderstorm. Our waitress was great and suggested we make sure to come back during dinner to enjoy their full menu. We had the chicken tenders and Philly cheesesteak. I was disappointed with the chicken tenders, they reminded of frozen grocery store chicken. However, the Cheesesteak and onion rings were delicious. This will be on our "eat there again " list of local restaurants.

Stumbled upon BearWaters Brewing Company after visiting the nearby Cherokee Casino. Unassuming from the front until I realized it sits on a running creek in the back. Unfortunately, there were no empty tables outside but we were seated at a table in a small glassed area that separated the inside from the outside. Greeted promptly by a friendly server who took a drink order. I tried the pineapple cider and my companion had a foothills Carolina blond beer. Both good. Huge menu, with everything from pizza, Thai, steaks and sandwiches. Separate kitchens so you may not have all entrees served at the same time. We took our server's suggestion of Thai choices. I had the Pad Thai Noodles which were very good. Companion had Pad Kaphrao with beef. Even better than mine! Huge portions, which after, realized we could have shared an entree and had an appetizer. Will definitely return to try something else on the vast menu.

    Unbelievable "chilli dog".

Food was good, and the service was friendly and fast. We had the chilli dogs and beer cheese. We couldn't finish them they were so large. Very happy to know the fries are cooked in Tallow too. And of course you can't beat the sound of the creek for ambience as you relax with your meals

If you're visiting Maggie Valley or passing through. This is the restaurant you should be going to. Don't sleep on this... The service here was absolutely top-notch! Barely walked in the door, and the staff was waiting to see us. The restaurant was bustling with business and I didn't stop the staff from being attentive, friendly and expeditious with our service. The menu was vast and ranging! Multiple kitchens producing many high-quality food items with wafts of scents sure to tantalize. Beautiful artworks on the inside in a spacious comfortable restaurant. Beautiful outdoor seating by the river. So close you could almost reach out and grab a rock right out of the cold luscious waters.

Great place to sit and relax by the creek and enjoy some good food and a beer or cocktail. Stopped in with my son after an hour long walk at Lake Junaluska. We both enjoyed a beer and each ordered a pizza. They have a pizza oven so the pizzas are great. I had the margarita flatbread and my son had the Appalachian pizza. I live in Waynesville and always enjoy going here. They have inside and outside seating !! Staff is very attentive and friendly. Highly recommend!!

We stopped in for a beer and to check the place out. The ambiance is very nice, the service was on top of everything and since we only snacked on fries they were pretty good. All in all it was a nice time, recommended and we'd go back for dinner. A very nice first visit.

Three stars for poor service. 4.5 stars for the food. The burger was good, the trout dip a little salty but good, the beer very good. The service was slow, forgetful, slow, and non-existent. And, they forget one of the 3 orders. How the hell do you forget 33% of what you wrote down on your little pad?!?? How. Wait I know, don't smoke the lords lettuce between tables. Your pin prick pupils gave you away. Juss sayn... This is not rocket surgery folks. This Maggie valley in the winter, give service and be happy people are here having fun. Half this town is closed for the season. I'm trying.

The space itself is genuinely grand, well-decorated, comfortable seating, a nice billiards room, and (maybe the highest compliment you can pay a pub) no old-bar smell or locals that make you feel out of place. The bathrooms were clean. The whole place was clean. For a neighborhood spot built around long conversations, it delivers. The drinks are the reason to come. The Riesling on the menu was good, and the winter bourbon (infused with apple), actually tasted spirited. What I appreciated most: no snootiness. Some Scottish and Irish pubs get precious about sticking to the house whisky program and gently disapprove if you order a cocktail or wine. Not here. They let you drink what you want to drink. Service was friendly and checked in at a good cadence. One note: the food came out way too fast. Appetizers hit the table, and the mains arrived about a minute later; we barely got into the fried cheese curds or tandoori fries before everything else was competing for space. The tandoor twist on the fries was a fun surprise, but generally the food read as average pub food. The salmon was dry (lesson learned: order it medium rare next time). The mashed potatoes on the shepherd's pie were the real highlight. 3.5 Stars. Credit where it's due: the menu is wide and actually vegan- and vegetarian-friendly, which is rarer than it should be in a pub, and there is a general playfulness in the atmosphere. What would push it higher: food that matches the level of the space, the excellent service, and the drinks. Pace out the courses, the salmon needs help, and strengthen the dishes a notch. We'll go back, just not for the salmon. The room, the drinks, and the staff all brought their A-game. The kitchen brought a B-game.

For example, I love the meatball over polenta appetizer but there is such a small amount of polenta. And for the price, it would be nice to be have a little more pasta served with the entrees. I've never gotten a doggie bag here because the portions are small and after spending over $100 for 2, it would be nice to have a little bit of leftovers. That said, food is delicious and obviously all homemade. Cocktail selection is very unique, hip and good. Service is excellent and the servers really know their stuff! Service

We also tried the mussels, mushroom fettuccine and a rabbit dish that I'm totally forgetting the name of. The rabbit dish was amazing but it had too much salt. The mushroom fettuccine on the other hand was lacking something, it didn't have that umami flavor to it. However, both were really good selections and you could tell that the pasta was handmade. As for the mussels they were good, but I probably wouldn't order them again. Our server was wonderful and the inside of Ilda is super cute! I would definitely recommend this restaurant to friends, but I think you need to make a reservation in advance. Also - give yourself some time to find parking ahead of time - they don't have a designated lot.

They have an impressive variety of drinks -- their drink menu is actually a full binder, with each page in a sheet protector. For our appetizer, we ordered the Chef's Table Signature Goat Cheese Risotto Balls -- absolutely amazing! The flavor was spot-on, and the portion was generous (three pieces, each just a bit smaller than a tennis ball). For entrées, my boyfriend ordered the Veal Schnitzel -- two tender pieces with a flavorful sauce that really tied the dish together. I had the Prime Delmonico Ribeye (12 oz) cooked medium-rare, and it was perfect: tender, juicy, and not too fatty. I asked to substitute the potatoes and vegetables with pasta, and they were happy to accommodate. We finished with the strawberry gelato, which was light, refreshing, and came with three scoops for $8 -- a great way to end the meal. Our server, Shane, was excellent -- friendly, attentive, and very knowledgeable about the menu. He checked in regularly without being intrusive and made the experience even better. Prices are very reasonable, especially given the quality and portion sizes. Ambiance: Cozy and intimate, so reservations are definitely recommended. Since the restaurant is small and fills up quickly, it can get a little loud when it is packed. There's limited space to wait inside, so I'd suggest adding a patio heater for guests waiting outdoors -- especially on cooler nights. Once inside, the temperature is comfortable and well controlled. We parked in the nearby public lot and took a short walk over. Overall, a wonderful dining experience. We're giving this place a solid 5 stars and will definitely be back the next time we're in Waynesville!
