Beatrix is a Chicago staple and has multiple vocations around the city. I've never visited this location before today but it was a fabulous option for lunch. Here's the skinny: Dedicated gluten free menu and fryers Menu is sooo good it was very difficult to pick! We decided on splitting the Miso corn soup (incredible) and some Brussels spouts topped with pickled Fresnos and peanuts. Absolutely to die for and got me hype for fall produce. I got the gluten free roasted chicken sandwich which luckily came with fries and my sister got the shrimp dish. I had originally planned to bal out and get down gluten free chocolate cake and a coffee for dessert but I was just too full! There's a seriously delectable coffee and pastry menu to end your meal with or even to just drop in coffee shop style. Our server was so kind! Great service and the vibe or the restaurant was not too loud or overstimulating- no issue having a nice conversation over lunch. We met with come people from work there for a quick bite. The place is a little busy and crowded - they also have a take away making it a hybrid of take-out and sit-down. Worked well for our purpose but bit the most relaxing vibe We tried 2 kinds of appetizers, loved the aqua chile !! For main dish I ordered a steak - asked for rare+ and it came well well done (My friend had ordered medium which made it) The second time they managed to bring it medium (and it took very long and needed reminders !). Maybe our server wasn't the most focused guy? I had asked for mashed potatoes as the reviews of their fries aren't great (and they looked very lightly fried!). Not our best visit, sadly. Table/ambiance great. Server started off great, attentive, sweet. Cocktails/mocktails lovely. Food, just average, oddly. Strip steak chimichurri was short on chimi & texture; was more like a sirloin, and more medium than med-rare. Fries were just...nothing. Not super hot, crispy, fresh or flavorful. Ordered Brussels sprouts to make up for it but they were over-charred & under-sauced, unlike usual. Crusted whitefish was apparently just so-so; looked great but not a lot of flavor. Was better with my lemon aioli that I didn't need for the fries. Green goddess salad was apparently wonderful though. Sadly, after someone dropped the food off, sever didn't come back to check on us or our food, and when our (expected) 4th person arrived, took 7 minutes before we could even find her & wave her down to get the order taken so she had to sit there watching us eat. Dessert menu was underwhelming so we didn't. Not horrible, just underwhelming. Note: They're adding that "surcharge" now but we asked to have it removed (as you can.) Great food! I got the Chile lime shrimp which was divine! I was close enough to lunch time that I was still able to try the juice. The dragon fruit juice was great. Good mix of ginger, coconut, and fruit juices. They were good about allergies. I'm thankful. Service was spectacular! Didn't love the dessert options so I didn't try any. When I walked in I was so impressed. It's such a cute coffee bar / social gathering place. We came for a business dinner and we were seated in time. It took time for the waiter to come over to get our drink orders, which I can understand, but after that I felt like he was very absent. A couple of us were able to flag him down to get another drink. Food arrived and many of us had steak however we did not have a steak knife. We had to wave the waiter down for steak knives. Food was good, I had strip steak and it was cooked to order, I wasn't a fan of fries with steak but the fries were good. read more

I stopped by for lunch this week and had the Ahi Tuna Poke bowl. For $24, I expected a bit more but it arrived cold, including the rice, which was also a bit hard to chew. The dish came with maybe 6-7 small pieces of tuna and an interesting side of granola that just didn't add to the flavor profile for me. The staff was very accommodating and it wasn't that busy, I decided to order a Blueberry Basil Shake-Up mocktail which was very refreshing and delicious. For lunch I tried the hot honey Brussel sprouts as an appetizer and the hot honey chicken sandwich. The Brussel sprouts were good and the sandwich was really nice, only small thing is that the fries weren't too crispy but the sandwich and appetizer that I had was very delicious. Let's start by saying the staff and service here is excellent and amazing. Happy hour is also a wonderful deal here in he Loop. Now, this is why this is the worst Lettuce concept yet. The foods absolutely terrible and gerbil food. There is absolutely nothing but kennebec fries and tired brussel sprouts for small bites. The rest is garbage kitchen hack scraps like whipped feta, chicken meatballs (NOBODY IN CHICAGO WANTS A STUPID CHICKEN MEATBALL). Don't come to Beatrix for food - just go to the salad bar and take it back to your office because chefs here can't do anything you can't find in the salad bar. Maybe not their fault. No damn hot plate snacks or real proteins other than fake meat and mushroom rice. Just terrible food choices for a place trying to draw Loop workers happy hours. The burger is good - not Monk's or Small Cheval good - but that is the only damn thing on this menu to film your gut. The quinoa burger is not cutting it, l. Add some damn real food! read more

Visiting Chicago for the week we were looking for gluten-free restaurants and found that Beatrix loop has a gluten-free menu, which is always great to hear, as traveling with celiac can sometimes be tricky. We ended up coming back 5-6 more times during our weeklong stay, as between the good vibes, the amazing food, and the wonderful warm service, it was almost not worth going anywhere else! Service: Nicholas is the man! Super nice, very personable, and when we mentioned it was our first time in the city he had all kinds of helpful insider suggestions that we really appreciate appreciated. He is a gem. Everyone else was super warm and welcoming and helpful, by our fifth time there we basically felt like regulars! Food: The hot honey brussels sprouts were EPIC, never had hot honey before, but so glad we tried it. They make a solid burger, a very good Caesar salad, and a DELICIOUS breakfast avocado toast that is large and very hearty, especially when you add an egg. My husband loves steak and really enjoyed their steak selections from the gluten-free menu very much including the kebabs. On top of all this, they make an iced vanilla latte that rivals even our favorite spots back home in Cali. And we learned that Beatrix makes their own kombucha, which is very tasty. I love to go here before an opera show. Healthy options that do not get you bloated before a play. I have been to Beatrix approximately 20 times since they first opened in river north. Unfortunately, this location is always low on servers. I't is definitely a more eclectic environment than the other nearby options. 5/5 for food and 2.5/5 for service. It is almost impossible to get a second drink during happy hour so I recommend asking for two at a time! The margaritas are perfect with no sugar added! read more

Nicholas was the most amazing server this Friday afternoon and turned a particularly tough day into a great one! His positive energy, knowledge of the menu, and decisiveness helped me have the best post work meal ever! His service was phenomenal he checked in the perfect amount !! Good place for a happy hour if you work in the loop! $7 cocktails, $6 wine, $5 beer - can't go wrong with that. I enjoyed the margaritas; they were alcohol forward and hit the spot. I ended up sticking around for dinner, and ordered the whipped feta & miso glazed salmon. The whipped feta was phenomenal - the perfect blend of flavors! the honey was nice for a touch of sweetness and I appreciated the nuts for the crunch. I would definitely recommend ordering this as a starter! The miso glaze on the salmon was a bit much, resulting in the dish being too salty. Unfortunately it was hard to eat, and I didn't enjoy it much. The vegetables were cooked perfectly, but the saltiness of the fish ruined the taste of the veggies for me as well. He asked if it was an allergy or a sensitivity and I told him an allergy to which he replied "oh, sorry" and took the plate and walked away. This was probably my third time in Beatrix Loop, and each time has been great. During some of my past visits, the items that have really stood out to me has been the pastries. This time, I made sure to try was the breakfast items. I got the Breakfast that included Eggs, Chicken Sausage , and Hash Browns. Everything was great and I also asked for a side of Sriracha Aioli. Our waitor was super chill, for business people always on a run, he gave out a vibe that makes things slowed down, just what I needed having this meeting with a big client. I ordered buffalo wing chicken meatball and Ahi Tuna Poke Bowl. The food came quickly, meatball was dry and poke bowl, while the tuna was fresh, the whole thing was just uninspiring. Enjoyed a really nice lunch with colleagues at this convenient downtown location. Casual, relaxed, coffee shop vibe with surprisingly good food. We started with an order of kennebec fries, which were amazingly crispy and light, despite not being very oily. The sprinkling of peppers and lemon on top was reminiscent of Rhode Island style calamari. Look out Idaho...these Maine potatoes made some killer fries! The Enlightened Caesar salad was creamy with nice salinity from the capers. Topped with chicken or another protein, it is well sized for a light but satisfying lunch. Service was friendly and attentive, although the kitchen was a little slow to deliver food. Perhaps it was due to converting from breakfast to lunch, but if you're short on time during the business day, this might not be your best option. read more

Everything went wrong on our visit. We had a reservation but there was no table available so we were directed to find a seat in the bar which was crowded. It was like the old Seinfeld episode where his car reservation wasn't honored. We also didn't get our OpenTable points since they didn't seat us in the dining room. The wait service was terrible. It was extremely slow and inattentive. The food was not hot when it was finally brought out. This is now the second time we had an unpleasant pre-theater experience. They offer a 'theater menu' which is a lovely idea. Comes with an app, main and desert (limited options for each). It is a lot of food. If you are headed to the theater after, no great place to stash leftovers...so we share. Except, they try to make it into an issue EVERY TIME! Oh you can't share...why not? You have to have a theater ticket to order it so how do you know I even have one? What if I don't? My dining companion can't order it? Oh, you can but then you need a main as well. Wait what? I can't come in and just have an app while my friend eats their theater menu? Or a drink? Every time the manager comes and says it's a misunderstanding and we are all good. But why make it into an issue???? Made for an unpleasant experience and set the mood off to a negative start. The food is decent and atmosphere is nice, but honestly, either don't offer the pre theater menu or stop being unpleasant about it. Every time it makes me feel dirty. Why?!! Also the waiter last time (who was extremely rude and condescending) tried to discourage us off the bat by saying 'it's a lot of food'. We know!!!! That's why we want to share. Great spot to grab lunch, an after work cocktail or evening bite to eat before heading home and I've done all of the above. They have a nice cocktail happy hour Mon-Fri from 3-6pm that include cocktails like margaritas, old fashion and moscow mules for $7 and wines, like Rose, Pinot, Prosecco for $6. Their Kennebec fries and brussel sprouts are delicious. I love their Kennebec fries that come with lemon slices and peppers and their honey brussel sprouts with fresno peppers and crushed peanuts so so good! Those are my go to's in the evening when I'm at the bar and I recently tried their green chili and chicken enchiladas and talk about delicious with a capital D! The green chili sauce that these enchiladas sit in is something special, it has mouth watering flavor that will make you want to order more and they garnish and top it with avocado/tomatoes/onions/ green peppers and it's all blended and combined making up a delicious $20 dish. The only reason for a star reduction is service can be spotty, and not consistent. I may go in and immediately noticed, offered water and a menu or there may be times I'm flagging a server down asking if I can order, other than that I enjoy Beatrix Loop for that after work wind down and the prices make it even better. read more

Came for the prix fixe meal before seeing Wicked! It was a great deal and the portions were HUGE, maybe a little too huge. We tried each of the starters and they were all delicious, but the hot honey brussels sprouts were a standout. For my main I got the braised beef pappardelle, which was on the heavier side but flavorful nonetheless. The chocolate cake was phenomenal. A friend and I were going to the Cadillac Theater for a musical and since we both enjoy LEYE restaurants, we decided to try this new addition to the family. The restaurant's location is a little confusing. I was dropped on at 155 W Wacker, I was only able to find the Beatrix Market which was al ready closed for the evening. Beatrix - Loop is actually on the other side of the first floor. My friend had the same problem. Luckily, the building's security team was able to guide us. I'm sure we're not the only ones that had this same issue. Once we entered the restaurant, we were able to locate couple of spots at the bar. The bar area was quite steady. At night, the restaurant only serves in the bar area and on the patio. The decor is like the other Beatrix restaurants. Granted, the menu is certainly more limited than the other Beatrix. The restaurant offers some great Happy Hour Specials. We opted to have couple glasses of wine and both of us, order the Prime Burgers. Within a few minutes, the meals were delivered to us. Of course, the burgers were done perfectly. Great location for Happy Hour for nearby businesses and for attendees to nearby theater goers that are looking for something quick read more

My first time at this location, and I won't hurry back. I've had very good dining experiences at two other Beatrix restaurants, but not this time. Service was pleasant but slow: in fairness, the place was pretty busy, but I mean service was REALLLLLLY slow. To the point that our water ran out and we were plotting how to steal some from the next table slow. I had two glasses of wine, which were good, and the chicken bebe, which is my Beatrix go-to and I have had many times, and tonight it was good but not at all as good as it usually is. We stopped in to Beatrix on N Wacker to have Breakfast on a Friday morning at 9. We were the only ones in the dine in area at that hour and the service was wonderful. I had an egg-white omelette that was so full of veggies I almost couldn't finish. My wife had a ham and cheese croissant that was a perfect blend of pastry and crispy cheese on the outside and more ham and cheese inside. The dining area was classy and we could see out to the street without the noise of the city. Our coffee drinks and Bloody Mary were also well made. read more
