I came here for lunch while I was at design days. I was surprised that we were able to get seated pretty quickly despite it being super packed and no reservation. We sat outside and it did take a bit longer for us to order and get the check but that was understandable. I got the dragonfruit juice which was good but there was much juice in the glass for $8. The chili and lime shrimp was really tasty as well but I finished all the shrimp and felt like I wanted more. My husband brought me here during our visit to Chicago, and overall it was a great experience. I'm giving 4 stars mainly due to the service. The hostess greeted us right away and got us seated quickly. The ambiance was really cool and lively for dinner time, but not overly crowded or overwhelming. It did take about 20 minutes for our server to come to the table, and unfortunately, they weren't very helpful or knowledgeable about the menu. We ended up ordering what sounded good on our own. After placing our order, we realized the appetizers were supposed to be half off during happy hour. We had to ask another server to find ours, and about 10 minutes later they confirmed we would receive the discounted pricing. That said, the food was amazing. Needing a very short notice reservation in the west loop, I had very few options. Almost everything was booked. Beatrix had room for us though, so Beatrix it was. I expected to give it a 3-star review because I'm generally not a huge fan of lettuce entertain you restaurants. But surprisingly, we all really liked our food. I also liked the price points. At roughly $30/person, it seemed more appropriately priced for my kids compared to other options in the west loop. We started with the hot honey Brussels sprouts and the jalapeño cornbread and both were great choices. I ordered the salmon which had a honey mustard glaze and sat on farro and sweet potatoes. It was really good. We ended it by sharing the caramel pie. I loved the depth of the caramel. Everyone at the table loved their food as much as I did. My daughter got an iced honey lavender latte to go. It was 7° outside. She's insane. But I took a sip and it was something I'd order on a warmer day. We had a nice brunch at Beatrix earlier this week. It was pretty busy when we arrived, but we ended up getting a table in about 15 minutes. I've been here a few times and the food is consistently good. I've done both brunch and lunch. Their pastries are amazing and after 8pm, they only cost $2. My latest visit was for restaurant week. I really wanted to try their caramel pie (spoiler: it was heavenly and I will be ordering it again and again). We had the chicken meatballs, jalapeño cornbread, prime cheeseburger, ginger chicken crunch salad, oh my caramel pie, and tall dark and handsome cake. All the food was a 10 out of 10. My only disappointment is that the ginger chicken crunch salad only mentioned having a citrus sesame dressing but the whole dish had sesame seeds all throughout it. The chicken was also cooked with sesame. Sesame is a common allergy so it should have been more clear how the dish was made and that you can't remove the sesame. So I was unable to eat that dish. The avocado smash toast with poke was absolutely divine! The server recommended that I get eggs on the side because getting both toppings would be too much and she was totally right. Even though it was Father's Day, we were able to get a reservation 45 minutes in advance, and our table was ready early. The waiting area with the café was so comfortable that we got caught up talking over tea and didn't notice our text that we got a table at first! Go-to happy hour & late cafe spot. Restaurant is separated into two parts--dine in & cafe. Both sides are spacious. The food is pretty average but they have a good happy hour menu. Cocktails are decent (especially in the summer). Where they shine is the cafe! Coffee & treats are always delectable. One true negative is that they went up on prices twice within a year or two. I ordered a bounty of pastries and cookies to-go. I asked the employee for suggestions. I received GREAT ones! What a treat!!! Included in my selection was an Angel Muffin Vanilla, Honey Butter Cinnamon Roll, Sadies Crunch Cake, Banana Bread and a Lemon Burst Cookie. I have to first write that each item is extremely generous in size! The Angel Muffin Vanilla was incredible! The texture was light, airy and tender. It was like cotton candy without the stickiness. The vanilla flavor shined through. The Lemon Burst cookie had beautiful notes of a fresh lemon. It is a lemon lover's dream. The Banana Bread did not have nuts. It only had a moist banana flavor. Beatrix allowed the true banana flavor. Sadies Crunch Cake was filled with layers of cinnamon and crunchy pecans. My favorite by far was the Honey Butter Cinnamon Roll! The aroma of tantalizing cinnamon was so tempting that I forgot to snap a photo! This Cinnamon Roll has got to be the absolute best cinnamon roll I have ever tasted! Not only was the cinnamon a delight, but the roll itself was tender and moist. The frosting was an added bonus. It was the perfect bite. Beatrix is the place to enjoy pastries and more! Came for the iced banana bread latte and was not disappointed! It was by far one of the most satisfying banana flavored lattes I've had but it's super unique in that it's kind of creamy almost like a smoothie. The banana milk has an oatmeal base so it's dairy free by default. I got it with 2 shots of espresso and that was perfect. It's quite large so I'd even consider it as a meal replacement . It was so good I think I drank it too fast so definitely recommend taking your time with it! This was my first visit to Beatrix - Fulton Market. I have been to the others. The Fulton market location is was a bit confusing as to know which side is the market vs the bakery/cafe/bar vs restaurant. My daughter and I came on a Wednesday during the week. It took a few minutes to order as the workers behind the bar were preoccupied with other things. When we finally ordered, we got the s'mores and monster cookies, the lemon glazed angel muffin, a strawberry milk and the Dubai chocolate matcha. It took some time as well to get out order. The bakery items were great as well as the strawberry milk. However my Dubai chocolate matcha tasted like banana milk and was very off putting. I had requested oat milk. We were well on the way to our car as we were nearing an expired meter - otherwise would have turned around to bring the drink to the attention of the staff. Overall everything was fine, but slow and the issue with my drink. I would not get the extra crafted drinks again in the future. read more

I had breakfast here twice during my week in Chicago for work and it was just okay, but the closest option. The steak chimichurri was pretty good for a breakfast dish, though a little small, and you can't go wrong w an egg dish. There is quite a bit of seating and service that is very helpful throughout your meal. The inside is decorated very nicely as well. The down sides I would say, are the coffee could be stronger. I didn't feel that caffeinated after I left even having a cold brew. I also prefer a stronger flavor. Their turkey bacon was not good. it was so hard to chew. I didn't even finish it. They could benefit from a slightly larger menu in the morning, although there are options for anybody with dietary restrictions. THE HAPPY HOUR Stopped by Beatrix at Fulton Market for happy hour on a Monday around 5pm, and this place delivered across the board. First off, a $12 happy hour burger and fries? You really can't beat that, especially for the quality. The food was amazing, the burger was cooked perfectly, and the fries hit that ideal fry need! The margaritas were bomb and definitely worth ordering (maybe more than one). I didn't catch the bartender's name, but she was on point friendly, quick, and clearly knew what she was doing even as it started to get busy. Ambiance, service, food, and drinks were all dialed in. Met up with my boy who moved from NYC to Chicago, and he said this is one of his favorite happy hour spots. After this visit, I can definitely see why.
