I already drunken noodles and the pot stickers. The noodles were super sweet. The vegetables were cooked great and the noodles were cooked well. I'm writing this review because the noodles were super sweet and I like sugar but this was too much. My biggest concern was that they were only two stalks of broccoli about six slices of carrots and a little bit of red pepper. So I don't feel like it was worth the $14. Beau Thai is a great Thai Restaurant located on Northwest 21st. I had a GrubHub gift card so I ordered takeout yellow curry and sticky rice through that platform. I didn't realize the curry already came with jasmine rice so I ended it up having two containers of rice. I ordered it hot spice level. For me, it was a medium. The curry was delicious. I was happy with the amount of potato, carrots, and pork in it. Both types of rice were good. I'll be back here for more Thai dishes soon. read more

Pretty average Portland Thai food, and would have gotten 4 stars if it weren't for all the meat being extremely over-cooked. Ordered pad se ew w/ pork, pad Thai w/ prawns, and BBQ pork Thai fried rice. The pork and prawns were basically leather. BBQ pork was fine but it's pretty hard to mess up a pre-cooked loaf of meat that just gets sliced and tossed into the stir fry. The apples in the rice were cubed rather than sliced... seemed like an odd choice; regardless, they added a nice flavor. The pad Thai came with a side of peanut sauce which was a nice surprise. I had ordered an extra side of it since I was so used to never getting it for free. Also ordered a Thai iced tea which was almost entirely condensed milk, but still good. I guess if I worked downtown, I'd get the fried rice here once in a while, but the food quality is not worth paying delivery fees. One edit I had to make: they're open later that most other places in downtown Portland which is a big plus. I found this restaurant on Grubhub. I normally don't order through there because I'm certain the business owners are not receiving their fair share. But Grubhub doesn't give you the option to filter by distance. So I didn't realize and I went down a rabbit hole of looking at the menu and yelp reviews and I was too committed before I realized the distance. I am so glad I didn't give up on this order! I opted for a few different things, which was a delight. There was a combo that came with soup and rice, I also grabbed crab rangoons and an order of Rad Nar noodles. Everything was delicious! My one thing that could have made everything better, there needs to be a way to ventilate the crispy items so they don't get soggy from condensation. It wasn't a huge deal, I just popped those items in the oven for a few minutes but having that would maintain crispiness and really made this perfect. I look forward to ordering again! read more

I ordered a panang curry chicken dish with brown rice via Grub Hub. I chose Beau Thai because they delivered later than other restaurants. I loved that brown rice was an option, but disappointed that they also sent white rice-such a waste!. I selected spice level of medium. Because of being able to mix it with the brown rice as well as having the Thai iced tea to drink, the spice level worked for me. I enjoyed it. I'll order from them again in the future. read more

Tired after a late night, I decided to order for delivery from here. The food arrived quickly after calling the restaurant to confirm they received the order via yelp's eat24 system. Instead of taking up to an hour like the email stated, I received my food within 30 minutes. Here's what I ordered: Pot stickers - Very crispy and full, yum! Egg rolls - Not bad. These were a bit chewy, but this is possibly due to the fact the egg rolls were delivered. I have had crispier egg rolls before from other delivery places. Chicken noodle soup - A bit bland. I bought this because it's cheap and needed to meet a minimum order. The noodles barely fit inside the container given, and I used the paper takeout containers as placemats. Tom yum soup - I ordered medium spice, and this was SO SPICY!!! I am no stranger to Thai food and have ordered from other Thai places before, so I can handle spice. However, this was so spicy, I couldn't taste the actual food, and I have never been a fan of this in any cuisine. There is a way to make food spicy but enjoyable. Went back and forth if it was worth writing a review for this place, but I think so. I ordered from this place once from Uber eats and I thought it really yummy Pad See Ewe so when I walked past it tonight after a movie, I was really excited to grab some food. Instead I was met with disrespect. Before going inside while looking at the menu I saw staff at the front counter. I looked over the menu for a few, and decided to order. When we went inside there were staff to be found. My gf and I stood in the restaurant for about good 10 minutes waiting. We could hear the staff talking in the back. We continued to wait and talk. Finally I said loudly "hello. Hello" twice. One woman came out, looked at me turned around and said something in Thai to a younger woman. I am assuming she told her to handle my order. The younger woman came up to the counter and asked what I wanted. Didn't apologize for the wait. Now, this is when things get messed up. I'm ordering my food and the woman pretends that she doesn't understand me. I find that hard to believe since the place is located in NW Portland, where it doesn't seem people are shifting the way they speak to place orders. After she "heard" me the second time, I proceed to ask her "did you all hear us back there? We were standing here for a while." She then proceeded to pretend that she could not understand me (twice!), but when I told her to forget it she said "ok," and was going to continue my order. I informed her that I wanted to cancel my order. She said "ok," Like she could careless about me wanting to place my order. It was rude I couldn't believe it. The part that gets me is as I was heading out, a man was talking to her (very fast, I might add and I'm sure you can guess what race he was not) in perfect English and she seemed to understand him just fine. It is incredibly disappointing and disheartening that black folks can't order food in Portland without having to deal with micro aggressions and anti-blackness. And I will say this, due to the other reviews perhaps they are just shitty with customer service, but it just hit me wrong that she seemed to understand the other dude with no issues, but was "struggling" to hear me ask for Pad Ginger, and that they let us stand there for 10-minutes. read more

I love this place, and I am grateful I live near it. I mostly eat their curries and fried rice dishes, but there is so much variety on their menu that I'm excited to explore. The dishes I would like to highlight are the CURRY FRIED RICE and CRISPY PORK FRIED RICE. Curry FR is a very high fidelity dish that maintains everything one loves about a curry, it is spicy and aromatic but it also is a solid fried rice. Crispy Pork fried rice is my guilty pleasure and they are very generous with the serving of pork they give you. I cannot emphasize that enough and perhaps its one of the best parts of this place. This review is from a dine-in experience we had here. Very slow dine-in service. only 3 tables were here, we were the second table and the first table had already been served. Waited about 15 minutes for the order to be taken, then another 30 minutes for our appetizer to arrive. Food arrived about 2 minutes after the appetizer. Meanwhile takeout was flying out of here, delivery people coming and going all the time. The kitchen process is clearly focused on the take-out, not dine in crowd. Food was served warm and sufficient quantities. Good price, but not particularly good Thai food. The chicken had clearly been cooked in a large batch earlier (dry and not seasoned for my dish, Thai chicken basil). The veggies in this dish (peas & carrots in particular) seemed to have come from a frozen mixed veggies bag and thrown in sort of last minute. My wife's Pad Thai was acceptable at best. The environment is old and dingy, which is fine, but table and floor was kinda sticky. The music was loud and obnoxious, not even Thai cultural. I tried to give this place another chance. I ordered different dish from last time. My honey BBQ chicken was burn. The chef covered that by peeling off the chicken skin. :( Disappointing. Plus, the restaurant staff is not helpful and not flexible. There are many open tables in the restaurant, but the server push all their guests in one side and all tables are pretty close! i can reach my arms out and touch other table. I asked to change table so me and my friend can feel comfortable and have our conversation (because we can hear other people talking and loudly). We ordered the Pad Kee Mov and the Drunken noodles (see photo), both with tofu. They are essentially stir-fried flat rice noodles. You do get to choose the spice level. We asked for them to make it hot and hot it was! But not the keep-gulping-down-water kind of hotness but just plain tasty hotness! Also liked the texture of the rice noodles. The only thing mild on our table was the Sake! Perhaps, a little too diluted... Anyway, the place has a nice ambiance, clean and tidy. Service was prompt and friendly. Average... which is weird in Portland. We were there for lunch and got the Pad Thai and the Pad Se ew. Both items were pretty spicy at a 3 or medium spice but not impossible to eat. I was really looking for the sweet and salty blend in the Pad Se Ew and also for that wonderful chargrilled flavor that you normally have. It was very very salty. Limited veggies and the chicken was extremely dry for that kind of saucy dish. Service was friendly, but poor. There were only 3 tables at lunch, and a few people waited for a bit and left because the host was no where to be seen. We will try Beau Thai in a few months again and see if anything has changed. read more

I was staying downtown and I went here a few months back. They took my order to go - a nice order, $20+. The waitress delivered it to the kitchen, then came back and made a point of telling me that they should not have taken the order because they were going to close in 10 minutes. (They were open for lunch, then they close for a few hours, and reopen for dinner.) She said, "Okay, we'll cook it for you, but we really shouldn't." The door was unlocked and the open sign was on. Apparently they told me this to make me feel bad or something. That's stupid. Either take the order, smile, and say thank you, or don't take it. The Tom Kha was different than any other Tom Kha I've previously had, but it wasn't bad - I would try it again!
