Lovingly packed peanut curry for TSA approval

Omg omg omg. Go to this place! It is AMAZING! The owner is the nicest human being. Full of energy and smiles. She is a dynamo. She runs it all herself. And the restaurant is in a beautiful old Victorian home. Gorgeous!! And be warned- a 1 star spicy is equivalent of 3.5 or 4 in most places. So darned delicious! Run, do not walk, to Lemongrass. She even lovingly packed our curry to go so TSA wouldn't take it from us at the airport. She is an absolute gem and you should patronize her business ASAP! BE WARNED - cash or local check only. But totally worth the hassle of finding your greenbacks because this is a business worth supporting! She has been here 28 years (as of 2024) and should stay forever. Love love love

I wish I lived in Portland because if I did, I would eat at Lemongrass Thai Restaurant all the time. This is the best Thai food I have ever tasted! The food is so fresh and flavorful and the meat is cooked PERFECTLY which is a rare experience for me at other Thai restaurants. All you have to do is come here once and you will be convinced!

Hole in the wall with fantastic food. Cash only and no alcohol, but you won't miss it. The owner is lovely.

Personalized service in a rustic home. Delicious food especially the Pad Thai and papaya salad. Cozy space.

This place has the best Thai food in Portland! I've been eating with this family since they had the Bangkok kitchen back in the 80s!

5 star food with excellent service - very welcoming and knows how to upsell lol…read more Food Orderd: 1. Fried Chicken Roti Combo - holy fried chicken crispy, combo comes with 1x leg and 1x thigh cut into two pieces. Curry was delicious and balance, excellent when dipped with the crispy roti or fried chicken. Pickled veggies were a great pairing and sweet and sour added another dimension. 2. Pad Thai - glistening noodles served inside an egg omelet. Very solid pad thai - sweet, sour, salty. Don't forget to add the fresh shrimp, these were cooked perfectly and plump. I recommend the restaurant should take the shrimp tail shell off for us. 3. Thai Basil Lemonade - solid lemonade, NEED more basil flavor. Overall, I'd come here again to eat and try other items as well. I'll give it a 5 star for now but more 4.5.

I'll start by saying this place is definitely not big so come with the expectation that you might have to wait for a table. There's only about 8-10 tables in the place and it's definitely geared towards smaller groups. Regardless we ordered at the front and then were able to find a seat. Wound up ordering the combo to try and get a taste of everything. The portions were solid and everything was super tasty. The chicken is perfectly breaded and delicious. It's a bit of a messy meal so just come with that in mind. Have a bunch of different options that also looked tasty. Will have to come back and try again. Service was fine. They were kind and cleared the table. Water is self serve at front of the restaurant and they clearly do a fair amount of takeout. Cool local spot to definitely check out.

I always order the rice combo platter with minced pork and Chinese sausage, it also comes with a lot of rice and egg and bbq pork - then add the crispy pork belly for that crunch! The runny egg yolk and spicy minced pork tie everything together into one incredibly savory, comfort meal. I paired it with a side of soup and a drink, which was so satisfying! This time we sat outside, and it was the perfect spot, as it was a beautiful sunny day - we were able to people watch just off Hawthorne Boulevard. They also have indoor seating if you prefer. The food comes out fairly quickly and you bust your own tables when done. If you're looking for a hearty, homie meal that's packed with flavor and gives you plenty for your money, that you will have plenty of leftovers to share, this is the place!

Disappointing experience eating here. The menu is extremely misleading. Beware that 2 of the 4…read more"meatless" items CONTAIN PORK. This is FALSE ADVERTISEMENT and completely wrong. I understand they do not say "vegan" as the other two items do, but they are definitely not "meatless". I originally wanted to order the #20 Ba-Mhee Tofu. I asked the employee if the bone broth was made from pork, and he said yes. I then proceeded to order the #22 Tofu Curry Noodle. He did not think to tell me that this item was also made of pork. Unfortunately, I knew the moment I took a bite that this was pork broth. Not only this, but the broth was overly sweet compared to any other khao soi I've had in my life. The egg noodles were all stuck together. I did enjoy the tofu, they were firmer in texture. My friend ordered the the tom yum and said it also didn't taste like tom yum, and she has been to Thailand before. We both liked the Thai tea, it wasn't too sweet and only $3. They give the side spices/peppers without you having to ask. There is a clean bathroom for customers. You are expected to bus your own table. Would not recommend.
