Craving Pad Kee Mao, I headed to E-Side Thai since I was in this part of town for a doctor's appointment. Wow! The meal was delicious! Cooked fresh to order and served piping hot, the wide rice noodles were perfectly cooked and flavored. The chicken moist. And the broccoli and peppers crisp but tender. It totally hit the spot and I had leftovers for lunch the next day! They also have Pad Woon Sen, which is a stir fry dish with very thin, vermicelli noodles made from bean threads. It's one of my favorite dishes, often called glass noodles, and not many Thai places in Portland serve it anymore so I was thrilled to see it on the menu. Veggies include carrots, onions, scallions and tomatoes with egg and the noodles, it's a satisfying and filling dish. Others in line ordered the crab puffs and Panang curry and since they were sitting next to me at the communal picnic tables, I had food envy! Next time I'm definitely going to try the curry! Service is friendly and efficient. Prices a bit on the high side for Thai from a food truck, but since I got two meals out of it, it was worth the $12. E-Side Thai is a popular cart located in The Bite on Belmont, a hub of many fabulous carts making food decisions difficult. I know, a 1% problem! But still a problem! E-Side is my go-to Thai cart in Portland. After bouncing around to a couple different ones around town, I am SO glad I found them. I have tried several things on the menu and they never disappoint! Pad Se Ew is my favorite bc their's has so much flavor. Garlic? Yes please! We have also enjoyed their Drunken Noodles, Pad Thai, and fried rices. Another fave is the Prince curry special they always run. I sub the rice noodles for rice, so good! Also recommend the Thai tea! The workers there are so sweet too. read more

We were looking for a different restaurant in the area and saw this area with food trucks while driving by. When we got to where the restaurant was supposed to be, we couldn't find it so went back instead to the food trucks. I'm glad we did because we had some of the most delicious food I've had in awhile. I got the yellow curry with vegetables and it came with white rice and the melon drink. I went with a mild curry because most places their mild can be hotter. In this case, I could have dialed up the heat. My coworker got the pad thai with chicken and egg rolls. The melon drink was so delicious. I think that was my favorite part of the meal! Hands down some of the best Thai food in the neighborhood. Portions are large, food is delicious and fresh, and the staff are super friendly and kind. I'm a fan of the noodle dishes, but you really can't go wrong with anything here. If you're in a soup mood, I definitely recommend the Tom Kha. This place is worth a visit! This food cart has pretty authentic thai food. I will have to go back and try out different dishes to give a full review. The food quality and quantity can compare pretty closely with the thai restaurant inside H-mart. However I still think the other restaurant is still better in flavor and quantity and the cost is identical. The other restaurant offers free tea. Since I love drunken noodle dish so that was the first dish I tried. The serving size was good for $8. The flavor was almost there. It was definitely lack of any basil flavor as I didn't any basil. Instead they used brocolli which I didn't care for with that dish. I also ordered chicken which was okay. I would like to try tofu next time. Another complain I have with this food cart was that she charged 25 cents for using credit card. It was not much but I wish she had a warning sign about the additional charge like the neighboring mac & cheese stand. So for this reason and no basil, I gave it a 4 stars. I eat here literally every week. This place is incredibly consistent and by far some of the most flavorful Thai food in Portland hands down. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu but my go too is the pumpkin curry. I don't have any pics for this review because after taking my first bite I could not stop. Incredibly unprofessional and completely screwed my order. I ordered hot mussaman curry and Thai iced tea with coconut milk. The woman who served me was very distracted laughing and being unprofession with her coworker in the middle of my order, forcing me to repeat myself when I should not have had to. They had me waiting for my food for 30 minutes with hardly any customers. The curry was not spicy, very bland, and the veggies/tofu in the container were twice the amount of liquid in the curry itself. And they put cream in the tea when I specified the entire meal should be vegan. Complete waste of money and time. read more

The pad kee mao ($7) was the best pad kee mao I've had at a food cart. This is the first Thai food cart I encountered where the food actually came out like I had ordered it from a restaurant with the difference being the wait time was significantly shorter. I've had some unfortunate experiences at Thai food carts around Portland where the pad kee mao was just prepped wrong or was lacking ingredients. Here, at E-Side Thai Cuisine, my entire dish was cooked to perfection from the wide rice noodles to the sauteed red & green bell peppers, onions, broccoli, & mushrooms to the fried tofu. The serving was generous enough to allow for two meals so instead of stuffing myself silly I saved the rest for the next day. The prices are a little higher than I've seen elsewhere but I rather pay that extra dollar or two for quality cooking. Check this cart out if you're in the mood for Thai food or have never had Thai food. Waiting outside in the cold, rain, &/or wind won't be so bad once the very nice owner hands over a hot plate of savory noodles & veggies to you. Then grab a draft beer at the cart next door and hang out in the Scout Beer Garden while your food cooks. When it's ready, eat it with beer in the covered beer tent. Life is good! read more

Oh so close to 5. We ordered the chicken yellow curry. He asked "mild, medium or spicy?" "Spicy" we said. "American or thai spicy?" He asked. "Thai" we quipped back. And yes this dish met the call, burning good flavor. Our only pseudo, kept it from 5 star land complaint, was the chicken....it was sort of dry and compared to the chicken from the Namu dish it fell short. The potatoes were the best bite of the dish. Their menu on the cart says "all items are gluten free", being doubtful I also checked their website and every item except for the Crab Puffs was individually marked gluten free. Now I'm thrilled so I drive across town for lunch. Before I ordered I asked, to clarify for the third time, if the two things I decided to order were gluten free. The lady had no idea so she asked her co-worker who then checked two things in the freezer and said they both had wheat...then WHY in the world are the marked gluten free in multiple places?! I get it, being gluten free is trendy to some but for others it's a damn medical necessity and this level of false advertising could literally land someone in the hospital. Insanity. read more

Great food cart with a pretty large menu! Really affordable and the food truck court is pretty comfortable to hang out and socialize. My only complaint is it took a while for the food to come out, but I ordered something they probably don't serve too often so prep probably took a little longer. I have been coming to this gem on Belmont since I first came to Portland 3 years ago. On rainy days, long days, and just plain ANY day; having E Side Thais Pad See Ew could make my day! Seriously, the generous portions, perfect peppery sauce with plenty of veggies has made this my favorite place for my favorite dish time and time again. When I thought they had closed down, I was devastated in a real "first-world-problems"kind of way. I toted my boyfriend all over SE Portland in search of something like my beloved Pad See Ew in vain and was met with disappointment after disappointment of bland, soggy noodles that never measured up to E Side Thai's. Finally, after bringing it up in random conversations as if speaking of a long lost love; one of my coworkers dropped on me that they'd just MOVED ACROSS THE STREET. All is right in life again. All I can say is, reunited, and it feels so good read more

I stopped by last night to satisfy my curry craving. I ordered the chicken green curry. The curry itself wasn't bad. It definitely had the spice level that I asked for. With that being said, the rice was barely cooked, and turned to powder when I bit down on it. Even leaving the rice soaking in the curry overnight then reheating didn't soften it up.
