There was no pressure to buy at any point during me reviewing different cars and I was able to take one overnight to get a better feel for it. I ended up with a 2014 Hyundai Elantra for a great price. I signed my papers with confidence knowing that I made a great decision on the car and was in the company of a knowledgable salesman. I've since then had a sunroof installed and my oil changed. If there is ever any question about my car or services needed, I am glad to know that the employees at Joseph Airport Hyundai are here to genuinely help. I am however taking off a star for their website. A) The "chat" popping up is very annoying after you "X" out of it the first time. B) Scheduling/Rescheduling an appointment is not as smooth as I would expect it to be. I needed to reschedule my appointment and it would not accept the confirmation number from my email nor my email address. I ended up having to call to get a reschedule. Other than the last piece, keep up the good/honest work!

I came into this dealership today genuinely trying to find a solution to my current vehicle…read moresituation, and the experience was extremely disappointing. The sales agent I dealt with was CK. First, let me make something clear: my credit was not the problem. I have good credit, and I had already been pre-approved. The issue was the trade-in and the condition/history of the vehicle I currently have. I understand that a vehicle with certain issues can make a deal more difficult. What I don't appreciate is advertising one thing to get customers through the door and then presenting them with something completely different once they arrive. The dealership was advertising an "Upside Down & Payoff Sales Event" and specifically stated things along the lines of "We need your trade-in," "we'll do whatever it takes to get it," and that if a trade deal was made, they would terminate your existing loan. Based on that advertising, I went there expecting them to at least evaluate my vehicle and see what they could do. Instead, after I got there, I was essentially told, "We're not taking this trade. Give it back to the bank and let them sell it at auction." CK then suggested financing me into another vehicle while my existing loan was not being paid off. That would potentially leave me dealing with the consequences of surrendering/repossessing my current vehicle while taking on another car loan. That is NOT what I understood the advertised "payoff" event to mean. What made the conversation even more concerning was CK telling me that he does this "all the time with people" and that people "usually get it removed from their credit" after doing this. I was not comfortable taking that kind of advice when the consequences of surrendering a vehicle and leaving an existing loan unpaid can be significant. I had to step back and start questioning everything because the proposed "solution" didn't make sense for me financially. I even called my brother and spoke with other salespeople afterward because I wanted to make sure I wasn't misunderstanding what I was being told. And I want to say this plainly: I am a Black woman, I was there by myself with my child, but that does not mean I am uninformed or desperate enough to accept a bad deal. I know how to ask questions. I know when something doesn't add up. Being frustrated with my current vehicle does not mean I'm going to let someone pressure me into making a decision that could potentially put me in an even worse financial position. If the dealership doesn't want to take a particular trade because of its condition or history, that's their decision. Just be upfront about that. Don't advertise that you "need trades," promise to "do whatever it takes," and promote a payoff event, only to tell customers after they arrive that their trade isn't being accepted and their best option is to give the vehicle back to the bank. I came in expecting transparency and an actual attempt to work with me. Instead, I left feeling like the priority was getting me into another sale rather than finding a legitimate solution to my situation. If you're considering doing business here, read every document, get everything in writing, ask exactly what happens to your existing loan, and don't let anyone pressure you into surrendering a vehicle just to get another deal done. I walked in looking for help. I walked out realizing I needed to protect myself. Never again.

It was my favorite car I've owned. I truly believed I was investing in a strong, reliable powertrain backed by a dealership that stood by its customers. Unfortunately, I couldn't have been more wrong. Just 2,000 miles after the warranty expired, the engine developed a loud knocking noise. Smedley's diagnosed it as a catastrophic engine failure but said I'd need to pay $2,000 for a teardown to confirm if it could be rebuilt for around $6,000 or if the engine needed replacement for $12,000. Faced with that situation--$2,000 just to find out I might owe $12,000 more--I had no real choice. I was under stress and financial pressure, so I traded it under duress and took a major loss, leaving me upside down on the next vehicle. Even after that, I tried multiple times over the next couple of years to work with Smedley's and Chevrolet to see if there was any help or goodwill assistance available. I was told the "next owner" would have to get it diagnosed, even though Smedley's had already done that. That made absolutely no sense. When I finally checked the Carfax report, I was shocked to find they had simply done a "tune-up" on the truck and put it right back up for sale. To add insult to injury, I later got a text from one of their salespeople offering me a "manufacturer discount" on an electric vehicle. I've never felt so cheated by a dealership in my life. My entire family (extended w/GM Family Discount)--who have bought from Smedley's for decades--no longer trust them and now take their business elsewhere. It's sad to see how far they've fallen from the honest reputation they once had.

We keep an eye on him best we can and he now has agreed to give up driving as he get lost and cannot find his way home. He stopped (by himself)in at this dealership when we were unaware and the salesperson convinced him to buy an $80,000 Tahoe. Now I get it, there job is to sell cars. Problem is it was very clear Dad was not of his right mind. When they went out for a test drive, the salesperson took him to a bar for drinks!! They got him to sign the paperwork which my dad didn't even know his own address, phone number or any of the critical loan information. Most of it was incorrect. They had to notice he couldn't find his way back to the dealership on the test drive. Once I found out, I contacted the dealership and they were very uncooperative and unwilling to fix the mistake. I even offered to take a loss just to get dad out of this new car payment of $1200/month as his SSA is only &1580/month... I ended us calling the bank and they requested the medical evidence of his dementia so I sent the Cleveland Clinic diagnosis from 2019. The bank contacted the dealership and the dealership was still very unwilling to work with me. Even the owner -Joey Smedley was nothing but a swindler. They basically took Dads 2018 Silverado as trade in and gave him pennies for it. They took the Tahoe back but we lost over $6000 PLUS they kept his Silverado and would not return it. We ended up losing a ton of $$. Some of this is just due to Dads illness and I can understand we had to take a loss. But they took advantage of an elderly old man and I would never go to this dealership because of this. Shame on you Smedley!

I stopped looking for a new van one day and had to practically beg someone to help me out. The guy was not very informative or helpful and more worried about telling me his life story. I left that day with very little information. I then decided to email because they had what i was looking for and give them another chance. I was dealing with a guy named Jim Rothwell. We emailed back and forth for a couple days and came up with a deal on a certain vehicle. My husband and I headed there on a Saturday. Didn't tell the guy we were coming till we got about halfway there but he was able to set an appt time for us at 1:00. When we arrived he was with another customer which was fine. We were checking out the van we had been dealing on all week and he finally made it over to us. He proceeded to tell me that it wasnt the exact van we had talked about but that one was at another local dealer and he could get it for us. If we wanted to test drive that one while we waited that would be fine. It was pretty much the same van but just a couple more options and more expensive of course. We took it for a test drive and gone for about 20 mins. When we arrived back we didn't see the other van. We went inside at waited for about 45 mins. In the meantime he was selling another vehicle. He either needed to let someone else help us or something. That should have been our first red flag. After waiting that whole time he walked us over to his desk and told us that the van we originally wanted had sold. But this was available for more money. How convenient. He shot us a price that was more than we agreed on and I told him that wasn't acceptable. He started talking about a different trim that we talked about which wasn't true and making stuff up. They had checked out our old van for a trade in so I told him he was done wasting our time And give me my keys back. He went to get keys and of course talk to his manager. At this point I'm furious and just want to leave. He comes back out with another offer and all he did was finagle numbers to make it look good. we got our keys and left. Figuring out the numbers he was charging us $3000 more than what we agreed on. The experience was terrible but it gets better when a couple days later he text me to say the offer was still available. I responded with our terrible experience I wouldn't buy from them if they dropped the price $5000. He came back with GOOD LUCK. I responded with I didn't feel like anything about your offer was legit. His reply was we are begging you and take your entitlement elsewhere best of luck. I replied with wow that's great customer service and he replied with YOUR NOT A CUSTOMER. I can't believe that a salesman talks to people like that And by the way his name was Jim Rothwell I would not recommend this place to anyone
