I have just moved into the neighborhood, I was looking for propane for my grill. I was referred to this place by an attendant at a local station that ran out of propane. A young man filled the tank, gave a slip, and directed me to go inside to pay. Once I got inside, I asked the young lady that I was humbled by using the honor system. Because I could've simply taken off. The young lady said: well, we trust people, but some people do leave without paying and what can you do. This place must frequented by more customers. Staff is insensitive to a person with a severe hearing disability. Also had ti bring faulty sprinkler back and again had problems getting my debit from Arrowhead to go through, both times. A guy said when they finally figured it out, "Arrowhead Bank has crazy problems with their cards." When I questioned if all people have a problem, he said "Yeah." I think the problem is with the checkout system at the store. I will shop elsewhere. read more

Love this place! It close to home and packed with stuff that you wouldn't find at Home Depot or Lowe's. Very organized store. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. My husband went to get some parts to set up the outdoor sink that we bought at Costco. The gentleman helping my husband spent the time to show him how to arrange the parts and hoses. As others have mentioned, this place carries just about everything you'll ever need for any project, ever. It's much more convenient than driving through the mess of traffic to get to the local Home Depot as well. My favorite part about going to Do It Best is how friendly and knowledgeable the staff are. They never talk down to you and genuinely are wanting to help you get your project done right. Also, the last time I was there they had a friendly cat in the store that I got to pet while shopping. From time-to-time one might have the good fortune to be the benefactor of customer service that eclipses all previous merchant/customer interactions. Yesterday, I had such an experience at the Beaumont Home Center on 6th Street here in Beaumont. My search was for a simple nut threaded with "compression threads", except the thread requirement was that they be through-and-through. The nut was to be for securing a faucet to a kitchen counter top. Alas, such a nut is only available as a component of a kitchen faucet kit. That was the costly problem-solution, buy a complete faucet kit, until Mary of Beaumont Home Center asked me the question " are you finding everything?" As if with magic powers manifested in Mary's nimble fingers a very adequate solution emerged into fruition. Within ten minutes a four dollar remedy was ready to take home. read more

This place has everything you need for quick home improvement repairs, everyone is always so helpful to get you in and out the door with exactly what you were looking for. I use them for my propane and propane, accessories, home air-conditioning filters, miscellaneous nuts and bolts, and today was some fuel line. I know I already wrote a review, but this last visit couldn't go unmentioned. I was building a decorative shelf (my first time ever building something like this from scratch) and I went in armed with my little shopping list and a gaggle of kids in tow! I was able to find most of what I needed on my own, but when it came to the lumber I needed a little help. Dale came to the rescue! He saw me in front of the entrance to the lumber yard looking a little lost and even though it looked like he was about to take his break, took the time to help me out. I told him what I needed and he took my list while I went and got a few more items and took care of the rest for me. Not only did he get me the most cost efficient lumber, cut it down to size, make sure I got the right screws, he carried everything out to my car! You definitely don't get that kind of service at Lowes or The Home Depot! The best part of this whole experience was how he treated me. There have been other times when I have gone to hardware stores and have been treated poorly because I was some dumb girl who had no business being there. I'm pretty handy and generally have a good idea of what I'm doing, but with it being my first time doing something like this, I was bound to be a little clueless and have some questions. Not once did he ever make me feel like I was a dumb girl who didn't belong, even when I wrote down the wrong part number for some screws! Haha! He was so patient and kind and that really goes a long way. Thank you Dale for helping out a clueless mom! Haha! Oh, and just in case you were wondering... the shelf turned out great! read more

Tom, the owner is just as rude as his under educated employees. How do you own a business, and refuse to identify yourself when asked. I asked if I was speaking with the owner, and all he continued to say was "this is Tom"...thank you Tom, WHO ARE YOU?!?! Your customer service rep is less than helpful. No one in this store knows what products they carry. They come up as ACE Hardware, they are NOT!! This is by far the worst hardware store I have been to. Do not waste your time trying to support this local business, just head on over to Home Depot, and get what you need for less. read more

It's is so refreshing to call or walk into a home improvement store and have employees not only answer ENTHUSIASTICALLY (on the first ring) but go above and beyond with their service. Communication between departments and even walked us from section to section. Not just answering questions but the gentleman that's helped us the last few times we've visited, educated us on the products he's personally used and what worked and didn't. "No silly questions" HELPFUL. Easy to work with. I don't think I'll ever go back to Home Depot or lowes, if I can avoid it. This place is amazing. Especially as a first time homebuyer and beginner to all things DIY. As long as you aren't getting anything obscure (they wanted $10.99 for a kitchenaid spatula that i be seen at the dollar store) Screws, tools, glass, screens, mulch, are all comparable price to the larger chain stores. I went in for a battery for my car remotes and the clerk replaced the battery for free for me while I shopped (of course I paid for the batteries) and he showed me how to replace the battery on my other remote. I am a small Beaumont, CA General Contractor, and my first choice is the Do It. Yes, I pay more across the board, but this hardware store has everything I need 99 times out of 100. There's always someone to point me to the correct aisle, as opposed to the orange giant employees guessing where stuff might be. Whatever I spend in price difference is more than made up by how much time I save not having to go on an Easter egg hunt. It's in and out. The only time you'll catch me at the big box store is if it's late and the Do It is closed, or that 1 time out of 100 that they don't stock what I need. I also don't have to cross under the freeway to get there. When my wife goes in, they treat her with respect, and they always load for the ladies. One of the only places in town to get your propane refilled without a big inspection of the tank; if it looks good they fill it up. Reminds me of the good old days when all we had was hardware stores. Also, their lumber is far superior to the big box guys. I don't have to dig through a stack to find something straight. They store it all inside. And if you want it cut, they know how to read a tape measure down to 1/16" without thinking. Every single employee knows the store and their regular customers. I was in the other day, and this young cashier knows who I am and what I do, but doesn't know my name off the top of her head. When she saw my last name, she recognized it. Ever had a big box employee like that? I even get calls from homeowners saying someone from the Do It recommended me. And if an employee doesn't have the answer, they call someone else who does; no BS. Best hardware store in this neck of the woods hands down. Take it from a guy that knows his hardware stores. I LOVE the convenience of a smaller store. Dont get me wrong, I love HD too but I can go to do it best and be in and out and there is never a shortage of associates ready and willing to help, even when they are swamped. I have gone there for simple every day items and I've made special orders. I even built a murphy bed and bought my plywood from do it best and for a small cut fee they made a whole page worth of cuts for me. My wife and I require a leaf blower that also vacuums the leaves and grinds them into mulch! I telephonically contacted the Ace Hardware on 6th Street and Stacy assisted me very professionally and informed me of the various leaf blowers and their capacities. Once I decided on the model I desired she offered to complete the credit card transaction and offered to have it delivered to my car for pickup so I would not have to be exposed due to the pandemic issue! Once I arrived the order was immediately placed into my car by a very professional and polite employee! Stacy and Ace Hardware provided very professional, thoughtful and courteous service! We needed wood pellets for pellet stoves that we use for kitty litter. We usually get them at Home Depot. Home Depot's website and a phone call determined that they had them. When we got there the pellets were no where to be found. Most of the employees had no idea what we were talking about and kept showing us apple wood pellets like you would use in a smoker for much more money. Finally, one person there said to try the Do It Best and even gave us directions. We walked in to Do It Best and were immediately greeted by Mary who asked what we needed. We told her wood pellets. We paid for 12 bags and drove around back to have them loaded in our car. There was still room in the car so we added 4 more. Pellets from this store are kept inside while the ones from Home Depot are. They get wet and turn to sawdust and are useless. From now on we will always get our pellets at Do It Best. I had a bad experience at the Home Depot in Beaumont where an associate was very rude to me so I decided to try Do it Best Hardware for the first time. Their prices are higher and their shelving space seems more cramped but it had a better vibe. The people were nice and offered to help and the store wasn't jam packed with customers which made shopping much more pleasurable. If i need a few small things, I prefer coming here. It's definitely a better way to shop if you don't mind the higher prices. read more

I am super impressed with the folks at Ace Hardware...I mean Do it Best Hardware. I live in Sundance and it's super great not to have to brave the traffic across the freeway. Most of the prices are a tad higher than Home Depot but it's worth the buck and a half not to have to go to the big box store. Recently I needed 20 16ft boards delivered. For a cool $20, they brought them to my house and even unloaded them. Best $20 ever spent. There will always be something you need to go to HD for because they have a much bigger selection but hey...where else will they load the bags of concrete for you without having to ask.
