Ace has went downhill I come here for all my hardware needs it is a little more expensive, but they usually have what I need and most of the staff is pretty knowledgeable but this last year the staff has changed drastically. The people that are working there don't seem to know what the products are so now I have to shop at Lowe's or Home Depot, which I would rather support the small business man. read more

I gave them three stars because this place is a hit and miss sometimes sometimes you can go and get very good service and the staff working are very helpful but other times you go they can be extremely unhelpful or no one really available for questions. They typically have what I need at the store when it's not available at places like Home Depot so they have a pretty decent selection. I LOVE this place. No matter what I need they seem to have it and they'll walk you right over to it. They know their stuff and are always willing to discuss it with you. I had a small project that turned into a major ordeal and I was given some amazing info that turned it back into a small simple project. The only downside is their hours. If I could give this place negative star I would. I went there looking for double stick staple and a stud finder. Walked in saw a guy behind the counter with a black managers vest on and I said hi c... that's all I got out and he cut me off and held out his hand in a stop motion and said "I'm here but I'm not here". I came in to see if they had the old fashioned Christmas lights, replacement bulbs. The people were so nice, friendly, and helpful. Not only did the wonderful lady show me exactly where they were, but when I cleared the rack, she asked if I wanted her to check if they had anymore. I did, she did, and they did. Now I am good to go, to replace all my faded and burnt out bulbs for Christmas. I really love the older type of Hardware stores. They are awesome! read more

Everything is more expensive here compared to your local home depot store pretty much double the price. Also I had some keys done by Jason and he acted like I was going to steal them and followed me all the way to the cashier. My ac broke down , watched you tube, looks like needs capacitor replacement. Not sure what size, old one corroded, can't read anything. Went to Home Depot , showed them the ac model year, this girl said, just google it. Not willing to help at all. Went to Ace Hardware, this guy said show me the model year, because the old part is corroded. Went to his computer, came back and said he was able to get right part number and they have it on stock. He said not 100% sure, but that is what the computer says. I bought it anyway because I live 20 miles away.. it was the right part, This guy saved my day don't know his name , hope he reads this review because my house was 100 degrees when I got home. They have terrible communication skills, they act as if they don't want to be at work. The girl who wears Alot of blush kept rushing around as if she didn't truly want to help me. She over complicated my question about "WHAT IS THE LONGEST SCREW THAT FOTS ON MY DRILL THAT DOESN'T REQUIRE EXTRA ACCESSORIES". I feel like me being black made her and her manager use less than a normal amount of people skills and human decency. As I said they have terrible communication, after I got my.itema they never said "so and so can help you" etc .... They all acted as if they wanted to turn me away because of race. And staging arguments instead of answering questions so that onlookers would assume the black girl is being unruly, instead of a worker with extreme rosy cheeks is intimidated and can't just slow down and do her job- without tryna beef with someone equally as pretty as her but black. Also, like I said about being checked out. Older Caucasian manager completely undermined me like I wasn't waiting on line for him to check me out. He stormed off after talking to a white girl. I'm tired of being a paying customer, and being painted as a villain. Like the whole store was creeping me out with how appropriate they thought their attitude was and their at work. The part that makes it even more unacceptable to me is that I actually have a head neck injury, and I told her I was kind of confused before she turned around and fast walk back to the register. But it's like even if I didn't have a head injury that's still very rude and inappropriate and she should clarify so that she doesn't have to run around like a chicken with her head cut off. I went there on the morning of April 31 2023 looking for fittings for a new kitchen water faucet and the guy who I asked (not the owner) was inpatient and not understanding what I needed even though I had pictures and the old pieces to show him what I needed. Home Depot when it works, you can't beat the prices. The problem is Home Depot often does not work and you can waste a huge amount of time there, the level of knowledge varies, and often at night there is no knowledgeable person there. So you get to wait. So your trip for a $3 part, takes an hour. Pretty expensive trip. Not to mention some of other problems that can occur with larger orders - I have learned a lot more about Home Depots systems than I should need to. The people are very friendly and try to help when you get help, but your time does have a cost. Ace Hardware you can get in and out within minutes with the right part. You are greeted at the door and asked what you need. Prices are not that much higher than Home Depot usually, but the time you save is huge. And for getting knowledgeable help, Ace can't be beat. There are also some specialty parts, that Home Depot just does not carry. I am helping out with maintenance on an apartment building, and Ace has saved me so much time and helped me out with so many emergencies from plumbing, to hardware, to window frames, tools, etc. The quality of their products is great, and their special order process is painless. read more
