I was down at his SoWa studio two days later ready to go, and sat down with him. He showed me some samples, and talked about what I needed from the headshot. The experience was a smooth and accommodating one with a perfect final result. Darren is my hero! I had a last-minute headshot emergency, and needed a session and final photo within a 48-hour period. Darren was the first (and last) person I reached out to. He squeezed me in the next day, allowed me to look through the proofs on-site, and sent the final copy and proofs that evening. In addition to Darren being incredibly helpful and considerate of my time-crunch, the session and final product were amazing. I had a really great experience with Darren - really talented photographer, fun to work with, and very reasonably priced (you get a retouched image and an entire online gallery for about $200). We did an outdoor shoot, and he did a great job on making the photos walk the line between "professional" and "fun." I really liked that Darren's portfolio was a little different than traditional (boring) headshots. I hate getting my photo taken, but Darren made the process as easy and painless as possible. Darren is FABULOUS!!! I contacted him to get professional head shots taken for work. He was very prompt and accommodating in getting me scheduled quickly, but that was just the beginning of how great he was. I brought a few outfits to the appointment and he helped me pick out the best combinations. I will admit that when he was first posing me, it felt a little awkward, but as soon as he showed me the pics on his camera, I was blown away! I've never looked forward to seeking out services by "Googleing" a business and hoping that my research skills would lead me towards the best choice possible. I would much prefer a friend or family member to refer me to someone. Unfortunately in the case of searching for a talented, convenient & reasonably priced headshot photographer, the people I knew were not able to advise on who to go to. I did get one recommendation for a photographer who looked to be pretty talented but obscenely overpriced. So, I took a few weeks to periodically type in key words in Google hoping I would find someone and just when i was about to give up and beg my brother who is a photographer himself, just not one who specializes in creative headshots, I suddenly stumbled upon the Boston Creative Headshots web site. Five Stars are not enough for this photographer or his resultant product. In short, if you want or need headshots for business, for the web, or to showcase your talent, RUN (don't walk) to Darren at Boston Creative Headshots. You won't/can't find a more talented, creative photographer who will give you such a great job at a competitive price. From my very first inquiry (responded to quickly and informatively), through several communications to clarify and schedule the booking, Darren was responsive, informative, flexible, and friendly. I was initially worried about choosing a photographer. My manager is a photographer in his own right (I would grade him on the pro end of ameteur). He has a critical eye, and told me in no uncertain terms that a great headshot was a critical requirement. But how to judge? Well, having a consistent 5 stars on Yelp (which Darren has) was a start. His engaging, friendly and professional manner sealed the deal. No BS, no "upsell; he gave me only what I wanted/ needed. On to the shoot. He has a great studio conveniently located in the SoWa Art & Design District of Boston, right on Harrison Avenue. (If you need it, he also comes on site). He validates parking in his buildings garage. Once in his studio, he listened carefully to what I was looking for. He coached me through the entire shoot, showing me intermediate shots to make sure that we were on track. He suggested various poses, and was receptive to my own suggestions. The shoot was actually enjoyable, and so was Darren. Now the most important: results! Darren promised that an online album would be available for selecting from within 48 hours (already fast). Not 24 hours later, I received a link to a password protected site containing almost ALL the shots that he took for me to choose from. And hence created the problem. Yes, some pictures were better than others. But ANY of them would make a great headshot. I brought them to my "picky" photographer manager, and he also had a hard time picking out the "best", because so many were so good. We finally settled on one. It's now back to Darren for final retouching. I will make an addendum to this review after retouching is complete. But, in the meantime, your search is over. You will thak yourself (and me) after you get your wonderful pictures back. read more

We had an urgent need for my wife to get a headshot for a job application and with her schedule, we were left with zero options to go the corporate route (Target, Sears, Olan Mills, etc.). After searching for a few professional photographers, I found some that were flexible in schedule, but the prices were too high for what we needed. My next thought was, "How hard could this be?". I bought a tripod for our standard digital camera and after about 5 minutes of test shots of random things in our apartment, I started googling for a photographer again. Darren is a great guy. He has great technology. One complaint is that he didn't really advise me well regarding what I should wear. When I came to his studio he had an all white background. Some of the shots were good shots, but not without a bit of direction on my part. Some were just plain off and made me look really weird. I think he is talented, but needs to perhaps spend more time on customer service. Don't get me wrong I did get a great shot..but I needed to provide input.
