Daniela photographed our wedding in rural Vermont, and took our engagement photos in and around the Boston Public Library. Daniela was, HANDS DOWN, the best vendor decision I made for my entire wedding. Not only is she tremendously talented, she is the sweetest soul you will ever meet. From start to finish, we were so pleased with her services. We opted to take advantage of Daniela's complimentary engagement session. We met out by Beavertail Lighthouse (apparently one of her favorite spots around town). This was really the first time that my husband and I had taken pictures of this nature so, of course, we were just a little anxious going into it all. Daniela made everything SO easy, fun, and relaxed. The very next day she sent over a few sneak peak pics from the engagement session. The photos were STUNNING. It made me even more excited to have her as my photographer! On the day of the wedding Daniela showed up and we just had a brief conversation about any of the pictures I specifically wanted. I also gave her a list of my "need to have" pics. She made sure that all of these were taken. Further, we did all of our family/wedding party pics BEFORE the ceremony, which was probably the greatest idea ever. My wedding party was actually able to enjoy cocktail hour while my husband and I snagged just a few more shots we wanted. I would also like to note that it can sometimes be difficult herding a large group of people and also fitting them into one picture with a cohesive look. This woman is made of magic. Daniela was my one and only choice for a photographer at our intimate, city hall wedding and small reception. I plan to shout her work from rooftops for the rest of my life. Rarely have I felt an experience more authentically captured in images than when I look at Daniela's photos of our wedding. They feel like us -- which is such an impossible thing to articulate, but Daniela was able to intuit and execute flawlessly. They are full of whimsy and affection and those human moments that make any event memorable. We got married in the Boston area in the middle of February 2015 (yes, The Blizzard of 2015, BETWEEN two massive blizzards -- seriously, who does that...!). This means there were patches of ice, piles of dirty snow, and, oh, about 8 degrees Fahrenheit with which to work with on the day of our wedding. Daniela was an absolute professional and used the very harsh weather conditions to create magical, fairy-tale like images that feel unique and that reflect our experience in Boston. She did all this without ever complaining about frostbite or any hint of crankiness, which is more than can be said for me or the groom. :) Her flexibility is unparalleled for a wedding photographer. We took photos everywhere from the subway to city hall, from a windy bridge to a basement bookstore, and she guided us through the process with such ease and kindness. Having her in the wedding made me calmer and her infectiously positive attitude was such a ray of sunshine through the, um, blizzard. What I most love about how the photos is that we look like the most glowing versions of ourselves. (Read: no extreme Photoshop, no cookie-cutter wedding portraits, no looking at these in two decades and wondering whether we ever really looked this way). When we shared these with our friends, everyone said "I thought I knew which one my favorite was, and then I clicked on and found another." I am starting to think Daniela is made of magic and wouldn't even know how to produce a bad photograph... For those for whom affordability is an issue, as it was for us as well: Look no further. I really appreciated how understanding and honest Daniela was about some of the constraints my husband and I were working with, and how she was dedicated to producing the high-quality images we dreamed of without breaking the bank. I don't know where to start! I luckily found Daniela online after an extensive search for a local wedding photographer that was affordable but talented. We met at a coffee shop and hit it off immediately. She wanted to know all about our wedding and took extensive notes. In the time up until the wedding, she was always prompt getting back to me if I had a question. On the big day, she was perfectly on time and showed up ready to go. She took really creative photos (lots of candids, but also posed shots that were not your run of the mill stand and smile) and was open to any suggestions our group had. If there were a six-star rating, I'd assign that: the lovely Daniela was a ray of sunshine who came beaming through Craigslist and into our wedding day (and the months before). Before I begin, this review is woefully late and I cannot apologise enough for that. After coming across Daniela Dawson Photography on Craigslist, my then-fiance and I decided we liked her style best, and reached out to her. We all met up at a coffee shop in downtown Boston, and we were immediately charmed by her sunny self. What better than a photographer who is about as excited as you are about your upcoming wedding?! (^_^) We met with no other photographers; after meeting Daniela, we didn't need to. First, we had a civil ceremony in March of 2014, on a snowy, magical, Monday morning. Daniela was present at Cambridge City Hall to photograph the very small ceremony of my husband, myself, and the City Clerk. Lots of tears were shed. Afterwards, she took photos of us all throughout that beautiful building -- and was kind enough to price the entire session as an engagement shoot. It gets better. Our church wedding was in May, and there was a bit of chaos with its planning what with venues and times being changed in the final weeks, but Daniela was patient with us through it all. We had a traditional ceremony the day before the wedding, and Daniela hauled herself all the way to Sharon, MA, to photograph the lively affair; thank you SO much, Daniela, for putting up with that long drive and my *very* tardy extended family!!! On the actual day itself, Daniela was like a wonderful presence floating around, taking photos, and sprinkling fairy dust at the same time. Everything went as planned...until one of my false eyelashes began to peel off after the ceremony. (O_O) What would I have done without Daniela, who drove one of the groomsmen to Walgreens to buy some eyelash glue, then reattached it so expertly just before the reception? It is touches like these that are so rare in an event that has as many moving parts as a wedding, things that one cannot put a price on. Daniela somehow comfortably straddles the line between paid professional and friend you feel like you've always known. :-) During my speech at the reception, I made sure to thank her by name -- because I can only imagine how exhausting it must be to be on one's feet all day, trying to capture as many precious moments as possible amidst partying people, yet make it all look so effortless. I don't know how one learns that skill, but Daniela has mastered it. When the final product was ready, Daniela provided us with both a flash drive of the raw images (my husband likes to tinker on Lightroom) and a CD of the edited images...and being the above-and-beyond person she is, she drove all the way to our apartment to hand them to me in person. The photos still take our breath away to this day, almost a whole year later, and I know they will continue to well into the future. Daniela, you are a delightful human being and a gifted, professional photographer. We first reached out to Daniela in 2019, and from the first email she was the perfect mix of professional and relatable. Where do I begin??? First, Daniela is the cutest freaking thing in the east - which doesn't necessarily mean she's a good photographer, but it's a twofer - because she is a great photographer!! I had a wonderful experience with Daniela when she took photos of my rehearsal dinner a few months ago. The quality of the photos is excellent. There are great candid photos and creative shots. She captured a lot of nice moments in conversation between our guests. She was lovely to work with, non-obtrusive at the event, and very easy to get in touch with throughout the process. My fiance and I were looking to get engagement pictures done in Boston where we got engaged, but we did not know any photographers in the area. After doing some online research, I found Daniela. After reaching out to her via Facebook, she had an extremely fast response and gave me her email for easier communication. She provided me with a detailed powerpoint on her services, an easy to read contract, and answered all of my additional questions. She was also able to recommend a fabulous salon, ZenaRose in Boston that provided us with hair and makeup as well as a place to change outfits (they even stayed open later than their normal hours for us so we had a place to keep our belongings, how awesome?). On the day of the photos, Daniela was kind enough to meet us at the Salon where we were getting ready which made meeting very easy and convenient for us. She listened to our requests of where we wanted our pictures and was very accommodating to poses we wanted during the shoot. While on this photo session we even toured many parts of Boston which made the experience enjoyable. We even did a few pictures while enjoying ice cream in a cute shop in Beacon Hills. I would also like to add how kind Daniela was, we realized at the end of the shoot that we forgot a prop we had brought and she let us go back and take a few more pictures so that we could still get the shot we wanted. There was no feeling of being rushed or that we were on a time crunch. No matter the pose she made us feel extremely comfortable and complimented us throughout, allowing us to feel confident in front of a camera. I cannot recommend Daniela enough! I cannot recommend Daniela enough!!! Everything about the experience of working with her far surpassed my expectations!! Daniela shot our engagement photos on Martha's Vineyard. First off, it can be a bit of a pain to get there (having to drive down to the Cape, take a ferry, then figuring out how to get around the island). We were supposed to pick her up once she got off the ferry on the island, but the day before the photo session our car broke down and had to be taken to the shop. When we told Daniela about this she was super sympathetic and did not seem bothered at all by having to take public transportation to meet us where we wanted the photos taken. On top of that, it had been threatening to rain all week. Daniela was in contact with me the week prior, talking with me about adjusting times to meet if it was a cloudy day to get the best light and looking at my revised pinterest board for rainy-day photo ideas. On the day of our shoot she came early so we were able to get the most sunlight we could! While the sun held up for the most part, when we went to the beach we got stuck in a wind storm that came out of nowhere. Because my hair was blowing everywhere and both me and my fiance were freezing, I wasn't expecting to get really any good pictures out of that location. Furthermore, we are not used to having our pictures taken, so I felt like we might come across as awkward in a lot of the photos. So despite Daniela saying that she ended up taking about 450 shots (yep, that's right, wow), I was hoping to come away with maybe a few good shots and that's it. When she sent me the finished images, I was blown away. They literally had me smiling ear to ear. I LOVE almost every single photo. It was amazing how she captured all the colors perfectly, made the most of the sunlight we did have, and used the dark clouds to create what I think are really dramatic pictures. I have never felt more beautiful, ever, and everyone I have shown the pictures to comments upon how Daniela was able to capture my fiance and I being so natural together. Additionally, working with Daniela was probably the best value I will get for anything wedding related! Her rates are extremely reasonable (though I am guessing they will go up soon since word is spreading about how great she is!). Finally, she is just a nice person! When I was caught in the wind without a hair elastic she gave me hers! Not an extra one she had... the one that was holding her own hair! Seriously, just book her now, she is amazing! read more
