It is truly the jack of all trades of a business, operating not only as a restaurant, but also a store for all your charcuterie needs and a space offering a diverse array of educational, fun, and unique classes. The staff there is truly into their craft and provide the best time for all their services. I finally got to try their sandwiches after years of coming for their charcuteries and various classes (all of which you truly cannot go wrong with), and they were to die for. We split their classic grilled cheese and the TBB and they were both nothing short of phenomenal. The grilled cheese comes with tomato soup which was delicious, and you're able to choose a side for all their sandwich options (we chose arugula salad, which was perfectly lemony). My one and only suggestion would be to offer a toasted option for the TBB sandwich, but it was also truly great as is - I would definitely get both again! We stopped in at about 8pm on a Saturday. The restaurant portion was hopping, with many people dining and chatting, but the cheese counter was our destination. We had great help from Emily as we made selections. Beautiful Rind has a fine variety that included several domestic and import cheeses I hadn't seen before. I would've loved to have gotten some of the soft rind cheeses available, but alas, I was traveling the next day and needed more durable cheeses! Coming to Beautiful Rind was by far the best experience I've had so far in Chicago. We did a cheese tasting class on a Saturday evening. It was in a private classroom with about 15 other people, so it was the perfect environment to learn about cheeses. Our instructor Anna was the smartest person I have even met. The cheeses they picked for us were unbelievable (and they filled us up really fast). We ended up buying one of the cheeses from the class in their store, and it was even better the second time. As part of my Christmas gift last year, my son gave me a Beautiful Rind gift card experience, since we both love cheese. We waited for nice weather to travel to the city from the NW burbs and went today. We ordered about 6 different cheeses and several meats which came with fresh and crispy French bead cut to size. These all came beautifully presented on a long wooden board with a delicious variety of sauces and pickled vegetables to accompany both the cheeses and meats. This was all well and patiently explained by our server, Abigail. But the peace de resistance was our first course - the flaming cheese with a cherry sauce that was to die for. It was much better than the typical saganaki. That alone made the trip worthwhile. All-in-all, it was a memorable experience and delicious lunch to share with my son. Give it a try! We love this place so much that we come back often. On this occasion we celebrated with starters of chips and pretzels, which were scrumptious with the cheese and mustard dips. For our main, we did a cheese and meat selection of 5. The standouts were the Red Rock blue cheese cheddar and the prosciutto. It was so good that we took home extras after our meal. Great wine options and perfect cheese pairings. The staff members were very competent on the menu and helped us order some options. We arrived for Happy Hour, which is a killer deal btw, and enjoyed finishing up some work while drinking wine. On our visit we ordered the chef selection of cheese and spreads and had the most delectable sweet potato spread and manchego cheese. Every bite was perfect and I'm not joking. We also ordered the french fries which were very tasty and some bread. Two glasses of orange wine later and we were having a BLAST. Can't wait to go back. We ordered a cheese plate from here during the Covid lockdown and were pretty impressed. When I signed up for a secret Santa type of exchange, I put a gift card for BR on my wishlist. The person who got me did one better and got me a ticket for a two hour tasting with a cheese monger. For my birthday, my husband got himself a seat and we went together. We went on a Friday during the workday, so we slept in and got a late start. We wondered if we'd have enough cheese, which in hindsight is funny. We got a cocktail before the tasting. I got a nonalcoholic spritz and my husband a glass of wine. We had five courses with two different cheeses each and some accompaniments. We learned all about the cheese making process, something we knew nothing about despite loving stuff. We also learned a lot about what made each style unique and the artisans who made those specific cheese. By the end, I could barely finish the last course and husband barely finished. We had a great time, we were served ample cheese and charcuterie, and learned a little something to boot! An intimate setting, great teacher/host, and fantastic cheese. I ordered delivery from them for a remote event. Overall, it was a positive experience. I went with the build your own cheese and charcuterie board. I got three cheeses that each came with a spread and two meats that also came with a pairing. They also added a baguette. I got the Toscano Salami, Proscuitto San Daniele, Brillat Savarin, Colston Basset Shropshire, Farmstead Manchego, and a pack of Olina's Wafer Crackers. The sides were cranberry spread, chocolate ganache, yam spread, pickled fennel, and malort tomatoes. My only complaint is that the chocolate ganache was starting to get moldy. Everything else tasted fresh, and I will definitely order from them again, but if it happens again, then it's a pretty big red flag in terms of quality. read more

My first time ever doing a wine and cheese pairing, and I cannot think of a better place to have done it than Beautiful Rind! This little wine and cheese shop in Logan Square is the perfect spot to grab all things charcuterie to take home, or to enjoy in store! The decor simple and welcoming, with lots of natural lights, archways, and gorgeous built in wooden wine shelves. Our pairing/tasting was lead by Randall, who is absolutely incredible! His knowledge and excitement definitely rubbed off on all of us, and I was truly in awe by all the interesting tidbits he was able to share with us along the way. We received three different types of wine (white, rose, and a pino), four gourmet cheeses, mini pickles, olives, fresh made jam, and, delicious bread. We followed Randall's lead cheese by cheese, and learned about the origin, the process of making the cheese, and what wine it should be paired with it! Randall also gave us a few tips on how to get the most flavors out of our cheese and wine pairing which I really enjoyed. In total, the pairing class was about 45 minutes and made for the perfect group activity. I wholeheartedly recommend it for anyone -- wine and cheese experts and newbies alike! I was recently in town with my work team and we were set up with a trip to this awesome little specialty cheese shop! Aside from the dining room and shop itself, they have a private room where they host classes, which is what our group was lucky enough to experience. The overall atmosphere is quite enjoyable with plenty of natural light, a beautiful wall of wine that sits inside a curved archway, and lots of spread out seating for those who come to dine on snack, sandwiches, salads and sweets. Do I love wine and cheese? Absolutely. Do I know a lot about wine and cheese? Absolutely not. This workshop was entertaining, engaging, and taught us all plenty of fun facts we wouldn't of otherwise known. When we arrived, the table was wonderful set with ten spots that included a board of four gourmet cheeses, small pickles, tasty olives, and a fresh made jam. In front of the boards sat three different poured wines (a fourth to be added later on), and a few baskets of crackers. The owner Randall, who was delightful and friendly, walked us around the board from cheese to cheese, teaching us their origin, explaining the process they were made, and helping us understand which wine paired best and why. There wasn't a bite or a sip that I did not enjoy! I can't say I'll have many returns, as I live out of state, however if I lived locally I would no doubt stop in for five-star cheeses and wines on the regular. I recently got together with my work team in Chicago after not seeing them for several years. Aside from dinners around the city, I wanted to do an activity together that would be fun, engaging, and that included great food and wine. I was so excited when I stumbled across Beautiful Rind's Yelp page, and called them right away. When Cara answered the phone, she explained a little more about how their wine and cheese classes work. It sounded like an incredible experience right off the bat, and I secured a time and date for my team to take part in a class. Our Ubers were running behind thanks to the lovely Chicago traffic, and when I called to let them know we were late they were wonderfully accommodating. Upon arrival, I could not believe how beautiful this space was. Think of all the wine and cheese you could ever want and add an incredible amount of natural light. Everyone was so friendly and directed us to their tasting room, where the table was already set up with everything we would be trying. The owner did the tasting himself and he was incredibly knowledgeable about all things wine and cheese. With a great deal of thought and patience, he took us through one cheese and one wine at a time, explaining how they were made and why they went well together. Needless to say we loved every single cheese and wine that we tried, and made great use of the fresh bread that was paired alongside of everything. We got to ask questions, and learn more about cheese than we ever thought possible. We did this class as a before dinner activity, and it was such a fun and spirited way to start the evening. I cannot sing the praises for this local business enough. The staff is so professional and accommodating, and I am so grateful that they helped me figure out a great way to spend an hour with my team. I'm no wine and cheese snob. However I've done some wine and cheese pairings in my day. It's always a reliable activity where you eat well, drink well, and hopefully learn something. On a recent work trip to Chicago, Beautiful Rind and owner Randall, delivered one of the finest wine and cheese experiences I've ever participated in. He's extremely knowledgeable and passionate about wine, cheese and his wonderful operation. Also, an additional kudos to him for herding our group of loud (probably too talkative and interruptive at times) coworkers who were looking to party after a few days of conferencing! Beautiful Rind is a full service wine and cheese shop. If there was a place like this in my neighborhood, I can easily see myself popping in every weekend to get a recommendation on a new, must-try bottle of wine. Or even a few suggestions on what cheeses I should by for an impromptu get together at my house. All the employees here are A1. As far as the wine and cheese pairing, the mise en place was chef's kiss. The cheeses, the wines, the heavenly accoutrements, etc. All taking place in a private room with gorgeous natural lighting and a flat screen television with notes about everything being discussed during the class. The attention to detail was stellar, and obviously all the pairings were fantastic. One cheese, I believe a white cheddar of sorts, was unanimously one of the best we've ever had. I probably won't pop in here too often, living in Denver and all. However I had to jump on here and give Randall/Beautiful Rind the well-earned 5-star praise. Until we meet again! read more

I attended a wine and cheese pairing at Beautiful Rind and left wondering why there aren't more boutique cheese stores that offer up these events. I wouldn't consider myself a wine and cheese connoisseur, as my usual wine and cheese pairings consist of standard brie, sometimes a gouda, or a stilton, paired with fairly inexpensive wine that I impulse purchased at the liquor store largely based off of label art. All of that aside, I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to not only learn more about different varieties of cheeses and how to pair them, but to sample some cheeses that I might have passed by while shopping at Whole Foods. The goat cheese in particular was incredible, and it is made fresh just outside of the city. If I lived nearby I'd be here all the time trying out new cheeses and leaning on the expertise of the staff to help me select an excellent wine to accompany it. read more

It's ok. I've been here a couple times to pick up some delicious delicious cheeses. Though the first time I visited, I asked about mimolette and they said they didn't have any even though there was a whole wheel of it there... maybe there's a reason but it wouldn't have even as weird as saying they didn't have it. They have a nice selection of wines and accompaniments for charcuterie. Some really good chocolate. They sell Divina products like sour cherry spread, fig spread, and so on, which is so good. I haven't eaten in, just stopped to get a few cheeses. They did have one of my favorites, red leicester, which is why I stopped in a couple weeks ago and the place was hopping. They aren't able to do tastings at the moment, which I assume is a pandemic precaution (rightly so). read more

Stopped in here for the first time today. They have a large selection of cheeses (and chocolate!) plus charcuterie to purchase to take home. I had a cheese tray, and ordered a couple meats to eat in the restaurant. The amount of cheese and meat that you get is so much more than I've gotten at any other place. And each cheese and meat has it's own side sauce or accompaniment that they make in-house that really accentuates each cheese. There is also a decent wine and beer list as well. Great find in Logan Square. My friend loves this spot. It is her go to cheese vendor. She also lives above it so that makes it easy. She developed a great relationship with this cheese store as it opened during the Pandemic. Fast forward...they are doing a dog benefit for her pup which was mauled in a nearby community. Anyway...I just love that they banned together to support her and others in the community. The owners are so friendly and kind. I was unable to do the live cheese tasting as I have company coming in town. However the virtual cheese tasting was so informative and I felt like I was in the shop. I was able to pick up cheese tasting the afternoon before. During the event, the owner went over the history of each cheese. It was so much fun. I really wish that I was there enjoying all of the banter and wine. Take aways...try this cheese shop. They have a good variety. They have awesome wine. They are darn good people!!! Fyi...I am a frugal person and usually just buy the cheese on sale. I was proven wrong tonight. So worth getting cheese from people who know cheese. I loved 3 of 4 of the cheeses today. We had such a great experience attending the French wine and cheese pairing at this cozy shop! The servings were generous and Randall and his staff were incredibly knowledgable. We left learning more about both the wine and cheese from a science perspective and had fun along the way. At the end of class, some of the wine and cheese we tasted was also available for purchase. After having a great time at our class, we also recently ordered a cheese board and some wine. Although there was an issue when it came to the person delivering what we ordered, they were not associated with the shop. Beautiful Rind, even though the delivery service were at fault, hand delivered a new board themselves. It was so kind and it did not go unnoticed. We got a ton of compliments on how tasty the board was and all our friends asked where it was from. Our favorite part was how all of the jams and items to pair with the cheese were also labeled. The board wasn't just well laid out and delicious but functional. A really lovely spot for cheese lovers. My sister and I came for a light dinner and it was perfect. We picked 3 cheeses and 2 meats, along with the bread cheese (which might have been my favorite of the night - so season with brandy and cherries! Yummm). The pairings with each cheese and meat are so spot on and unique in flavor. We split a bottle of wine (which are all really affordable) and they charge a $5 cooking fee. Otherwise you can do wine by the glass, but it definitely saves you money to get a bottle. Wait staff if knowledgeable and friendly. My one note would be that it would be nice for some music on to create less of a "store" atmosphere. I need to remember to come back and get cheeseboards for my work and personal events. Visited for the first time during covid on a Saturday afternoon. This place is in a developing area of Logan Square and it is quite an exciting place to be. They have outdoor dining as well as indoor dining and are observing social distancing. Inside you can select cheeses and meats that you can eat there as well as sandwiches or you can also buy all of the products and take them home. They also sell every possible accoutrement you could think of to accompany a great charcuterie experience. The place is very clean hip and trendy. The cheesemonger was able to offer a lot of insight on the cheese options that would meet our taste preference (the goat cheese was amazing and the alpine - which was super strong , but also amazing). We got 3 cheeses and a meat and that would have been plenty for a light dinner for two people. But we have no self control - so we also got the racclete (worth the price) and the bologna and brick (which the cheese was like fondue cheese and could have gone without.
